Dzień dobry (Hello) Jestem Ken z Japonii (I'm Ken from Japan)
I talked about this topic from a Japanese perspective. It is not necessarily correct, but I hope you would accept it as a Japanese opinion! If you want to know something about Poland and Japan, let me know in the comments☺️
Dziękuję (Thank you) Miłego dnia (Have a nice day)!!

Hello, I'm Ken from Japan. (Polish)
Recently, I've been uploading videos about traveling around
various cities in Poland and eating food.
This time, I want to talk from a Japanese perspective for the first time in a while!
Those who have been watching me for a long time have noticed that
I got my hair cut
That long hair changed because I admired a person in a K-drama
I showed a Korean actor
And I'm here
Nice to meet you!
This time, I would like to talk about
"Which do you want to live, Poland and Japan?" from a Japanese perspective
I have to leave Poland soon
There's less a month left
It's been about a year now
I've come to understand Poland to a certain extent
So with my experiences,
I would like to think about which is better to live in
By talking about this, people who are thinking about living in Japan or Poland in the future
Also other countries
"I didn't notice, I have to think about it"
Like this, you might notice something so please watch until the end!
I would like to talk about it immediately,
but in advance, I have thought about several items that are important when it comes to "living".
First, I would like to mention...
1. Living expenses
The cost of living is of course important, right?
Depending on whether the cost of living is high or low, what you can do is limited.
This is a bit of a challenge
I've been saying "I came to Poland because it's cheap" or
"Prices are cheap, so it's good"
but I'll correct it a bit...
What I really realized is that
it depends on the stuff
From my experiences,
Food
Food in the supermarket
It is a bit cheaper in Poland
Also...
Housing
Airbnb or hostels where I live,
They are definitely cheaper in Poland
On the contrary, what I think "it's expensive in Poland" is
Eating out
It's quite expensive
I have hardly eaten out so far
I cooked for myself to save as much money as possible
But I thought I wanted to travel mainly once again
So, I sometimes eat out at the same time
But I think it's expensive
Honestly, it's not that different from Japan
No, it may be a bit more expensive than Japan
You might think prices in Japan are expensive
The biggest factor that seems to be expensive is...
Rent / Accommodation fee
Definitely.
Airbnb and hostels aren't very popular in Japan,
so if you want to stay overnight, you'll end up staying in a hotel
,which costs about 22 euro even if it's cheap, right?
Also, taxis are expensive
As I said before, Japan doesn't have Uber, Bolt, and so on
They are called "Car share service"?
That kind of thing isn't popular
Overall, it's cheaper in Poland
If you don't eat out, you'll be able to save money
And, if you come to Europe, you want to go to other countries, right?
I learned that it's much cheaper to fly by plane in Europe
than by bus or train
For example, when you go from Poland to London, it takes only about 22 euro
It's the same price as a night bus that takes 8 hours from my hometown to Tokyo
Even though domestic transportation costs that much, crossing the border from Japan costs a lot of money
So I think public transportation is cheaper in Europe
Next,
2. Climate
This is also a difficult part,
but I talked about it in this video before, "The difference between the climate in Poland and Japan"
The good point of Polish climate is that it's relatively cool
And, there're less natural disasters
On the other hand, the bad point is
Winter. Winter is long...
The weather is dark all the time
and the sun only comes out for about 5 hours
so many people get depressed
The good point of Japanese climate is four seasons
You can see the cherry blossoms in spring, and you can go swimming during a hot summer,
you can see autumn leaves in autumn, and you can see snow in winter
These beautiful seasons
The bad point is
Summer is too hot
That is a problem
There are times when it really gets up to 40 degrees
so I feel like dying, No I'm going to die
Also, there are a lot of natural disasters
typhoons, earthquakes,
heavy rain.
Recently, there have been disasters in the upper part of Japan (Tohoku)
It does rain occasionally in Poland
but it's less than in Japan, and even if it does fall, it's mostly light, spattering rain
It depends, I can't choose😅
I honestly don't like both
I love four seasons in Japan, but I'm afraid of natural disasters,
but Poland's gloomy winter is already traumatic
I want to choose a different country as for climate
Next...
3. Diversity
It's definitely Poland here
Europe is easier to cross the borders so there're different kinds of people
If you are a foreigner, you can live without racism
Japan is an island country, so I think it can't be helped
but it is gradually changing, but it's still...
"Oh, foreigners"
It's not blatantly visible bullying or discrimination
Atmosphere. It's something like that
Foreigners often say when Japanese people
sit on a train, they sit with a little space between them
I feel that there is still a wall between Japanese and foreigners,
so if I were to live as a foreigner, I would think Poland is easier to live in
Next,
4. Language
It's Poland
In Poland, there are many young people who can speak English
so even if I live here, I don't have to worry about it
I wish I could speak Polish many times
But you can live if you speak English
On the other hand, in Japan,
if you can't speak Japanese,
you won't be able to live
There's no exaggeration
If you go to restaurant
and there're some young staffs, most of them can't speak English
"I can't speak English" is different for you guys and us
No words come out when it comes to "I can't speak English" for Japanese
Not at all.
That's why I think it's difficult to find a job if you can't speak Japanese
It would be nice if you could become an English teacher (but I think there are plenty of job openings in Japan)
In that case, Poland is better (but I think there are plenty of job openings in Japan)
Next, food
Well...
I'll choose Japan because I am Japanese
But I've never thought Polish food is bad
I've thought I missed Japanese food
And when I cook for myself, I use Japanese seasonings,
so I've got confused like "How can I season it?"
But I can adjust to here if I want to
It depends, I can't compare them
But honestly I'll choose Japanese food
which is healthier than Polish food which is basically oily
Next, safety
Both are good
Recently, I've been thinking that Poland is better
People say that Japan is safe,
but if you go to Tokyo or Osaka, you'll see strange drunkards
Also...
Mr. Shinzo Abe passed away,
and I don't know when or what will happen to Japan
(On the other hand,) Poland is much safer than I expected
I'm embodying now
I've been here alone for one year...
but I'm embodying the fact that I can spend a year alone
This is a draw
Next, entertainment
I'm sorry for this, but...
I think it is Japan
Of course, people in Poland have spent a lot of time in Poland,
so there are people who say, "I'm having enough fun in Poland. It's enough."
But looking at it objectively,
I think there are a lot of things to do as entertainment in Japan
This is one of the things that makes me miss Japan
For example, when Polish people have free time,
they probably go to clubs and pubs, and drink alcohol
play and chat with friends and family in the park
and go shopping, etc
Maybe, it's like that
In Japan, the biggest ones to do are
Disney Land and USJ (Universal Studio Japan)
There're a lot of amusement parks
Also, game arcades are everywhere,
karaoke, clubs and pubs are of course in Japan
At least you can do things that can be done in Poland in Japan
I don't mean I chose Japan because I am Japanese
I think it is objectively
Next~
8. Working
As for working,
I don't know much about it because I'm not working here
but I think it's Poland
As you all know, Japan is famous for workaholics and overworking,
so people can't leave the office on time
for the minimum of 8 hours, for the average of 10 hours
People think "I don't want to work" at night
On the other hand, in Poland,
the average is 8 hours, maybe
I've heard it's 8 hours or less
So, around 16 p.m.,
some people come to shopping mall normally
this scene is unimaginable in Japan
At 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon, the shopping mall is empty
That's really strange for me
I'd say...
Having lived here, I felt that people prioritize their family and friends over working
The environment in Poland is good
Also, this is related to the language
You can have the chance to use English in working in Poland
So, I think Poland is better
Of course, Japan is serious about working,
there are many companies that can be proud of the world, such as Toyota.
but the pressure is still being applied to the present age
Honestly, there aren't many Japanese people who are satisfied with their work,
most of them are compromising their work for the sake of their family
This is strange
To be honest, Japan is a more developed country than Poland
but from my point of view, Polish people look happier
As I said earlier, even if there is not so much entertainment, just talking with friends or family in the park,
just going to a restaurant or bar, drinking and getting drunk and having a party like this
What is happiness?
I've come to think about it after I came here
Next,
9. Atmosphere
This is what I want to say the most
I don't really like the atmosphere in Japan and I like the atmosphere in Poland
You know...
This is really abstruct,
It's hard to put it into words
but I always say "Poland is peaceful"
It means "freedom" with a positive word
It's "easygoing" with a negative word
They live their life like that
What people do is also free
I think it's a really open country
but Japan, it is really closed
If you do something different from others,
people will think, "This guy is weird, I don't understand what he's doing"
Maybe, people around me also think
"What is this guy doing?" against my gap year situation
Anyway, the comments on TikTok are also terrible
Let's say your TikTok goes viral
There are at least haters in Poland
but it's based on your video content
And they say "I don't like this part so I think ~"
It has some reasons
But Japanese haters say "I don't like you, f**k off" without any reasons
They are terrible
Japanese tend to insult the person who succeeds, who challenges him, who is pursuing his dream
People love "normal"
Fairness is given to everyone in Japan
but at the same time, people want "normal"
The Japanese who have been abroad say that the most,
Japan is closed and difficult to live in, I don't like the atmosphere
The atmosphere
We have to take action with it
We have to read the room all the time
Also, when you go to Japan, you can feel it
People won't say anything,
but you will think what is correct or wrong with the atmosphere
Lastly,
10. Healthcare
I don't know this
I don't think it's bad either
I have been in Polish hospital only once...
My phone died.
I'm sorry, I just ran out of battery
Anyway, I don't know about healthcare
neither education
because I haven't experienced them
Like that!
I talked about 9 or 10 items
Here is conclusion
When it comes to living, which do I choose Poland or Japan
I...
won't choose, I can't choose.
I'm sorry, it's a very cunning answer
But if I continue to live in Poland, I feel something is missing
If I am in Japan, I don't like the atmosphere
Both are not the best
After leaving the country, I can see the good and bad things about that country
So after I left Japan and came to Poland, I could see both good and bad things about Japan
Objectively I could see them
I'm in Poland right now, but if I leave Poland and go to a different country,
I might think "Poland was a really nice country..."
At the moment I don't feel like living in both countries permanently
All right, if you think that
this part of the country is easy to live in, or this part is difficult to live in
please write it in the comments section
That's all!
Thank you for your watching. Have a nice day (Polish)
