We are going to be building ourselves a full drive track in this episode but
we're kicking things off with a fresh slab going down to get our
new shed knocked up. This is somewhere we can store some
cars so we can finally get some space back.
Friday, good morning. The boys have done a killer job on the slab. We've let it
set for a week so it's all cured. We actually got a bit of rain during the
week which is good so it's time to put the shed up. The boys
christened it for me the other day while I was away
so that's been done. We have some lovely black marks on here so
this is a six bay shed so the plan with this is just for storage. Now that the XC
is done the car like that can't be left outside
so the XC, the drift cars don't have windows,
the patrol when it's all looking flash, we've got the Chevy to go in there,
brother's got a tunner, just all the cars that we don't want to leave outside will
end up in here. So the whole shed's been sitting here for
about 12 months probably so yeah we're finally
getting into it and once that's up start working on the
rest of the property, get this fourby track in
and the place would be getting near done.
Righto, shed update. We had a little drama so
the knee plates that they sent us were the wrong ones so we can't put up the
roof beams, purlins. You can tell I'm a
bloody construction worker. So we started putting
up the back walls, put up the side walls but we're just waiting on getting those
new plates so we can finish off the roof. So
we've got to move on, today we've hired a dozer and we're going to start
flattening the paddock. We're going to leave the shed for a little bit,
the weather's about to piss this week but we have one day window where we can
start flattening this paddock so we've hired a dozer and stage one of building
this fourby track is just getting everything flattened
and looking mint so that's what we're on to today.
But before we can do anything we've got to clear the place of the car yard that
we have so most of it's pushed back there, we're
slowly getting rid of stuff. The poor Pajero,
this is a Holden with no door. This does run
ish but it just needs a bit of bit of love and a bit of battery so we're just
gonna, I have no idea where we're going. Anyway
so that's the paddock we're going to flatten.
Since we can't do any work on the shed because we're waiting on those knee
plates we're going to start flattening the paddock which is
the first mission before we can build a fourby track. So I've got three acres
down there and it's covered in like bloody weeds and seeds and shit. So we're
going to get a bulldozer and flatten it. Three days later.
So this is a bulldozer, I think. I asked the guy and he says it takes
diesel, I wasn't sure. There's an on button. So I'm not driving it
of course. Mitch thinks he can drive it which I
believed him but then we're going to get someone who
actually drives dozers so I'm going to have Alex run around, he does it for work
up in the mines. But the plan is to flatten this paddock
it's the first phase of doing this track. So we're
going to let the soil settle, then we'll seed it, get some
sheep in here and then we'll get some smaller equipment, bobcats and diggers
and excavators to make some tracks and stuff. So
call me whistling diesel. Maybe if you google it.
Yay somebody knows what they're doing. I'm here, I've arrived.
So Alex sometimes does this stuff for work. So if you look here, I asked him, it
takes diesel. But we've got three acres down here,
we're going to flatten and then build a little forward track
somewhere up there. Sound good? Let's do it.
It's been a long day of me drinking beers and Alec and Mitch doing the work. But
behind me is a way better looking bit of land. So
we're almost done, the sun's going down but we've pretty much got most of it
done in a day. Big shout out to Alec who's helped us
out with the bulldozer. But the plan is now is to pretty much
let this settle for a month or so. We're going to get a drone sprayed,
everything killed. Let it settle, bit of rain, whatever, let
it do its thing. And then we'll come back through with a
bobcat and a little excavator and start digging out a bit of a track.
I want to dig out the dam a bit, make a little pad down there for camping. But
yeah it's pretty much the first phase of
fixing up this property. Oh we're about to push the tree over.
Get rid of it. This thing just hammers for everything.
That was really exciting. Okay guys so this video has been obviously
months and weeks and a whole lot of time doing all of this but we're at the point
where it's been probably I'd say two or
three months since the bulldozer came through.
The other day we got a little bobcat and did a little bit more cleaning up. So
today we're going to get some few people around and start sort of cutting some
little tracks in. There's a couple of hills that we can drive.
We managed to find a little track through the trees. Might get Mitch running
through some little sections that we found
and what hills we're going to use. But today is all about figuring out some
different lines then we can start working on making it a bit more
challenging. So let's see what we've come up with so far.
Actually what I do want to do with this tree
is string up a flying fox from here all the way down across the dam
up to that tree there. So the pad that was
cut out with the bulldozer has been cleaned up and extended.
We've made a little landing here. As you can see
patrol set up. You can set your cars up. Backing onto the dam. We're about to get a
little excavator in. Dig this out. Clean up the silt. Make a
bit of a dam wall and extend this to come out here so you
can actually swim in it. Well actually what I want to do
get a little red arc solar panel, car battery,
solar powered aeration pump fountain and then a few fish and then we'll be able
to swim in because it'll be nice and clean.
A little bit of water would come through this section and that would make that
bit of a muddy hill. So you come through a bit stuck in the mud
run up there. So that's one little course if you want to get your car wet and dirty.
Okay so here we've got B&W bump and then we work our way up to Mead Mother Hill.
This is where we've cut in some little wombat holes
to make it a bit of a challenge heading up. Then we head into the trees and bush
section. This is actually super steep as you can see but it's a
bit of a windy u-bolt kind of shape and it goes uphill. Pretty cool.
So this all began because in front of me was a heap of scrub and I wanted to just
clean it out to just maintain the property.
I want to make this all grass all beautiful grass
but as we push through here we found this little slab.
This is a concrete slab and there was a heap of old farm equipment
which may have been used back in the 70s. Look
all rusty. Didn't even know it was here. View of the valley there. So I'm thinking
through here some bloody fairy lights, a little hot
tub. Can be the be the love shack. Oh my god.
So today our beautiful selection of vehicles is the Cape York Pajero
and that's kind of it. We'll see if we can get the Vitara running.
My patrol currently has no shocks in the back because we're fixing some stuff.
So we're gonna run around in this. Alrighty guys so we are about to go for
a wheel but the car, the way it's painted currently, I lost my
sponsorship with All 4 Adventure and Explore Life.
That was free advertising there baby. But we picked up a new sponsor which is
Red Bull. So we're gonna get the cans out, put the
new livery on. We need a Red Bull helmet.
All right so Red Bull just literally rang me and said look we're not gonna be
able to do the deal till next month so we're not going to do Red Bull just yet.
We also had no red paint so we're just going black on one side
and building a board on the other. No no no I've got a blue can.
What would you like your vehicle to say? Well Red Bull.
No maybe like building a board. Give me wing. Michael what would you like to
written on the side of your car? I would like um yeah say this is Michael's
car.
Well I think it says this is Michael's car so I guess it is um my car but it's
not for legal reasons.
So I wrote what was on the other side just in a different word
and it says this is not Sam's. Which is not. So if anyone asks it's not mine.
It's not mine. So this old girl she died on us. Oh got it.
Oh so it charges. No it doesn't even start.
Yeah but when it starts does it charge? It doesn't start at all.
Look at the sparky. Look at the sparky. I found it. Yeah she's 6am blowing.
Yeah you wouldn't know that unless you were sitting there. Pull it out Sparky.
Oh I'm stronger than you look. That's the wrong one. It's a 60. Yeah we'll get the
other one out. Look. Oh there we go. 50. Now it's apart. We can just put.
So the way to fix a fuse you just drop power on it. Oh my god.
It's melting. Go. No I smell burning. I smell like it burnt the
wiring loom.
This is yeah this is actually my daily. Since I sold the Mustang
I got myself. Actually this was Kagan's old car so shout out.
If you don't have jumper leads the other way to do it is
like this. Go. The Vitara.
She sounds barked. Don't let it turn off. She sounds barked. Don't stop recording.
Okay.
I don't know. Couldn't tell you. Oh me pineapple.
That's a swift one. How'd the Vitara go? This way though see.
Yeah good. Yeah good. It's got a flat tire. It's got a flat. It's got a short. It does
have a flat. It's got a short. You melt it all. I didn't bring the jimny down.
I'm not bringing the jimny down. You gotta bring the jimny down. Why not?
Because. Okay so as I test the tensile strength of my awning
to give the crew a little bit more shade as we enjoy the day
uh the boys want to start going forward driving so I guess we rip straight into
it. So no one's successfully done the BMW
bump yet. But I built it up now. It built it up but
it gets hung up. You got to really send it to the point where it jumps and
the cross member clears that side of the body. The scary
part about sending it is there's like a drop off length. Yeah this is this is
quite the drop off down here. Oh that is so not fast.
Dude you went so slow.
Oh
Dude that was about to roll. Let's go. Where are you going? Let's go to the new
fall driving track. The new. In the trees. In the trees. We haven't
named this one yet. It's called the Bridget track.
Can't see because of the sun. No one's sitting in front of me.
That easy. That's a good little track.
That close. So when the boys have the chainsaw out
getting rid of some scrub no one's able to get up it yet so we're going to try
to come down it and see how we go with that. Evil
evil. She's flexing. That's some angle aye.
Holy. That is so much fun. So steep. Now take him low.
This is not fast enough. This is what we have to deal with every
day. Get him. Can you send us the footage and your
dinos for our reel? A car and a fare. I love tricy. They're
taking us to a car and a fare.
Woo. Yeah. Can you clap? Does he love it? Does he love it? He froths it.
He froths it. Like what a rig. Does he love it? He loves it.
Right not many people know we actually have like the worst neighbours you could
ever get. Like they will literally complain when
the dog barks. Well not when the dog barks because fair enough I'd complain too.
They complain we're mowing our grass for excessive revving of engines like every
single day. They're blacklisted from council because they've complained so
much they're not allowed to anymore. And he said he's going to call the
car and fare so. Oh I see him he's on the move.
That was good. That was pretty easy. How does it feel being a hoon?
Oh no comment. How does it feel annoying your neighbours?
Um pretty good.
This hill is actually pretty gnarly. Like there's a hole there.
I don't know if you can tell. Look how high they are.
And you start from down here. You have to get there very quickly.
Unfortunately say it's not going to make it.
Yeah. So does Andrew get the best driver award?
You didn't. I drove first go. Okay well we're still waiting for
someone to get over the BMW successfully. Maybe that's Zach's turn.
Try and get over the beamer. You just need to do it.
You need to get over the BMW. Zach's going to get over the BMW.
All right this is the only obstacle unconquered today.
So just having a feel for it. You need to hop that shit.
You need to hop that. Also I need a thumbnail of it like that.
Ended up in the hole. That's how you do it.
None of this soft drive up gently. No no. The two best drivers are in this car.
Now you can do it the other way because you flatten that side.
Ow!
That is literally the only lights on the dash. A door has popped open.
I'm selling my patrol. I'm buying a patch.
No one needs big four inch 37s. They need one of these.
All right we thought we were done but a little corner of the dam we're going to
try and get across. It's fairly shallow but she's a mudrunner.
So just just this little corner here the dogs have been running through and it's
not that deep. So we're going to try this bit. Actually I
think I got it wrong. They're just going straight for the middle.
I don't think it's deep because a lot of bits coming up.
Here we go. I can hear him coming. Look at the speed on the thing.
Oh my god. Oh my god. That was a let down. That's where it lives. He's like it's
stalled.
Is that your car mate? Nah it's not my car. It says so.
I'm Nicholas. Oh we're taking on water. We're taking on water. It's coming
through the doors.
Do it again. It's still there. We're all good.
Got no boost. The amount is still coming out the back. The turbo's not there.
Turn it off. If it's just on a turbo and we don't run it low on oil we
could save the motor and just put a new turbo in.
So that is what my drift car just did. If it's blown a turbo it's just leaking oil
out of the turbo. See that? That's cooked piston wings.
The snorkel's off. You've blown the intake.
I don't know what I've done. I've blown the welds off the intake.
No she's no power now. That's mass everywhere. It's coming out the back.
It's pissing out the back. Maybe her leg's out of bed. That's what I'm thinking.
Her leg could be out of bed. We've been discussing whether to blow it up or not
and the ultimatum is whether we destroy the engine
or try and save it. So it's piercing oil. The turbo's still spinning so it's not
that. So it's blown something, cracked a block and
we've decided we're going to give it one minute on a limi. If the motor doesn't
seize and explode after a minute and it's still surviving
we're going to keep it and try and repair it.
I mean that's if it survives that with no oil.
Dude that's a testament. If it survives it's going to Cape York.
All right so who's got their phone? Put your phone on. All right I got one minute.
Timer. Ready? I don't know if I want to be that close.
Start the timer.
It lasted 15 seconds. It's 15 seconds. All right. Try to start it. Try to start it.
Give it another go. Oh no. She seized.
She's done. Thanks for watching guys. You've seen this pad
do everything but I think it's this is the final straw.
So I guess we're gonna have to hire another Kubota and pull it up the hill
because uh it's. No I think it's gonna end up in the
valley. Yeah it'll probably become the padge bump.
BMW bump. Padge bump. Michael. Cut to the great times of the
pageant Cape York. Oh montage. Montage. Beautiful montage.
See you later guys. Pageant Cape York.
No way.
