When it comes to electricity, there are a lot of hidden dangers to look out for throughout your home.
Let's start in the bathroom. Be very careful when using anything that's plugged in near the tub, shower, or sink.
Water and electricity can be a deadly combination.
Any outlet near a faucet should be a GFCI outlet.
That's a ground-fault circuit interrupter outlet with a reset button that helps you avoid getting shocked.
The bedroom is oftentimes a go-to place for rest and relaxation.
But remember, charging phones, notebooks, or laptops in bed is a bad idea.
They could get too hot and burn you or cause a fire.
Mmm-mmm. I smell something good cooking in the kitchen.
Make sure to check the cords on all of your appliances. Don't use any appliance if the cord is over the crack.
A damaged cord could overheat or give you a shock.
And don't forget to use a GFCI outlet near the sink.
The living room is usually a popular gathering spot in any home.
Do not plug too many things into an outlet all at one time.
It can make the outlet too hot and potentially cause a fire.
Also, never run an electrical cord under a rug anywhere in your home.
Even though electricity does amazing things for us, like power our homes, computers, and appliances,
it can also be a very dangerous hazard.
So remember, when at home, always be careful and think safety first.
At Rock Energy Cooperative, that's exactly what we do.
