Welcome back to my channel guys
So I have been attempting to decorate for fall for the better part of a month now
And I really found myself struggling with like really not wanting to spend a lot on fall decor
Kind of trying to use what I have and also a huge lack of inspiration. I feel like I wasn't inspired to
To decorate in like such a big way and then I realized what I love most about this season is more than just the decor
It's the coziness and comfort that the season brings the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting cooler
So it makes me want to like grab a book and curl up with a blanket next to the fire
It's also a season of togetherness with all of the family holidays just weeks away
So really for me this time of year is creating an atmosphere in our home
That feels like a warm hug where each detail reflects the beauty that the season has to offer. So in today's video
I'm excited to share eight ways to create a cozy home this season for fall and winter
That speaks to all of your senses not just the pretty decor to look at
So this time of year is really going to have fun with our decor. I feel like it's less practical
It's more creative now when it comes to fall decor, which we're gonna do today
I feel like less is more you don't need a lot of elements to
Really make it feel more cozy and more like fall holiday for Christmas. I think the opposite. I think more is more
I'm a more is more kind of decorator at the Christmas time, which I will be decorating for Christmas later on in the year
But since it's less practical and more creative
I like to pick an area in my house where I can decorate for the season. That's kind of out of the way
So we have our entryway and formal living room with this beautiful fireplace mantle
And so I always like to decorate in here because it's the first room that you see when you walk into our house
And it is out of the way. It's not a space that we do a lot of things in but it's a space
Put together and perfect so I want to do a really fun
Mantle scape if you will and I have some inspiration. Here's my inspiration board for this fall
I did really like the direction that I was kind of starting to go and it was more of this like
whimsical autumn and I tend to go this direction every year because I like my decor to feel like a little bit wild and a
Little bit more messy and less put together or creative. I have some elements that I've thrifted and a few new
Floral stems that I've picked up that we can kind of mix in a tip is to swap your lighter
Florals to something more warmer more darker because it's gonna make the rooms feel cozier
I loved these because they had a little bit more of a wild look to them
You know messy without being too much
And on my inspiration board I had a lot of this color it's like a mauve peach
It's a very interesting color I just I loved it. I loved it with the like the warmer olive green
Mix in some dries that I had before
Kind of give some height
So that's a thrift store trying to get some inspiration and I found the top of a birdhouse. I paid $3.99 for
This top. I don't know who would have bought it
But me it kind of went with my whimsical theme
So I want to put it and snuggle it into kind of like a full scape here
I have some little bird nests. We have a few pumpkins. I have like this garland that we can kind of do
I don't know if it's gonna be too bright for the theme. I want to go with but worth a shot
And dark red so good for fall and winter. It usually always is in some way
particularly
Dark with a little bit of purple undertone. It's really in so I ordered some new paper candles
We'll bring this colored more
Elements. I also think it needs to be warmed up and I have these that are more of like a deep dark purple
And we can add in a few pumpkins kind of bringing down the green
Into a green pumpkin making a little collection of things here be a lighter colored one over here
Okay, one more creative element. I think I want to make the bird
House look more like a birdhouse like that
They're actually making a nest in it and I know I have nests on each side
but I have some moss and I think maybe putting a few pieces of even this is kind of messy a few pieces of
Moss around will add that more like whimsical forest autumn that I wanted
Guys I love this. It looks just like
Inspiration. I don't know why I couldn't do this sooner. I look so good
When decorating for the seasons one of the easiest things that you can do to change over from season to season
Without spending a lot of money. It's just having different pillowcases for your pillows
So the pillow covers and these I had for spring and I love and I have some ones that I used last year for fall
Always had a hard time storing the inserts if I had a lot of pillows with inserts
So I just started getting the covers reusing the insert and then this is much easier to pack away every season
Having more things in a room to me always makes it feel more cozy. This spot has always been missing something
I've been waiting to find the perfect coat rack for here for the entryways still haven't found one
But for now, I felt like adding a mirror here is
Perfect because there's not another mirror in this space and it's on your way out
You can check make sure you don't have anything in your teeth before you walk out. That would be nice
So I think I'm gonna hang it right over the chair
Live more a light and this really speaks to like the sense of sight so opting for more candlelight
Lamps over overhead lighting because overhead lighting can feel very harsh and less cozy
Warm lamplight can light up a space in a very calming cozy way can also speak to your sense of smell
I have been burning my autumn candle for my candle line on door. Absolutely. Love it. It's limited edition
It fills the room. It smells so good like a crisp morning
Walking through an apple orchard with a dash of cinnamon and vanilla if you're looking for a candle, I'll leave it linked below
I feel like this is the season where we should always opt to like romanticize life and do more with candlelight or lower light
Like light candles while you're eating or light candles while you read or you're doing crafts
You can't have a cozy home without warm candlelight. I feel
If you want your whole home to smell
Amazing you have to try out a simmer pot this season
you can brew one for yourself or like the morning before friends and family come over if you want to just like
Infuse your home with so much scent you have to try this. It's so easy today
We're gonna simmer my favorite one to make for fall which has apples pears
Cinnamon sticks star anise some sprinkle of cinnamon and I'm gonna throw in a vanilla bean, which I didn't do last year
But I'm gonna try that this year to see if it gives a little bit of a sweetness
I love to do a more spicy version for fall
But I'm gonna put in one of my favorite
Recipes for a simmer pot for winter if you're gonna be doing it around the holiday time definitely try it on it has cranberries in it
We're gonna put everything in the pot first and then fill it with water
Simmer pots also add like a touch of humidity to the air which helps with the dryness
That happens during the winter months
one tip that I have for you is that you could also do it in a crock pot if you have a crock pot instead of
Having it on an open flame like this because you kind of have to monitor it because the water will evaporate over time
So you want to keep adding water to it if it's evaporating too quickly
So doing it in a crock pot you kind of don't have to watch it
And I usually let this go for a few hours like two to three hours
Maybe actually save the ingredients and put them in the fridge in a container
Because I can keep using the ingredients until their scent is gone after the ingredients have lost their scent
I like to dry them out and then we can use them for so many things we can string them up for garlands
At the holidays, we can put them on the mantle, you know, swag them or on the tree
We could dry them out and put use them as potpourri maybe in a bowl somewhere and put some essential oils on them
So there's so many things that you can do with these and it makes your home smell. So good a
Cute idea that I came up with is to create a cozy essentials bundle either for yourself or for family and friends that are
going to come visit you during the holiday season and it's essentially a
Collection of products in a basket in a room in your room in a guest bedroom
That can help your guests or you get cozy this season
You can add something for them to read like a magazine or a book a novel that you really love
Some cozy socks are essential and I got a big pack of these from Costco and they're super soft
Add in a candle for sure and some matches so that they can light it in their room and also some room and linen spray
So that they can spritz their linen or you can spritz their linen before they come over to stay with you
It'll keep all of the essentials close by in your room
but it'll also be a really
thoughtful thing to add to a guest bedroom if I went over to a friend's or family members house and they had this in the
Guest bedroom for us to enjoy it. That would be amazing. I'll be like, oh my gosh, that's so thoughtful
They may also think it's a gift. So be ready to part with it if they happen to take it home with them
Embrace layers and textures you're gonna need a ton of blankets put them on everything
Put them on the back of couches put it on your chairs
put them on a ladder and definitely having a blanket ladder in a room that you spend a lot of time in and
Family kind of comes in and out of and they can see blankets
definitely going to add to the cozy vibe because you're gonna see the blanket visually and want to take one off and cuddle up
definitely a collector of
Chunky cozy neutral throws and I love to bring them all out at this time of year in addition to throw blankets
Also rugs if you don't have a rug down in every room in your home this time of year and your floors are
hardwood or tile
Definitely losing a cozy factor by not having one. We have no carpet in our entire house
So we depend a lot on rugs also need cozy socks because walking on something cold or being cold is not giving cozy vibes
It's not giving the coziness that we want this season. I have someone
There's nothing quite as cozy as baking something seasonal either with seasonal ingredients or just inspired by the season
So every year for as long as I can remember my mom has made something called monkey bread why it's called monkey bread
Not sure. Sometimes we called it pull-apart bread because you kind of pull it. It's not the prettiest looking dessert, but it is
So good, and I think about it every year and I have never attempted to make it myself
So I asked her for her recipe
So I've gathered all the ingredients that we need and it's a pretty simple
Straightforward recipe which I'll leave the recipe card on the screen and it's just a great dessert
If you love something sweet like cinnamon sugar with lots of butter, you're gonna love this recipe
I hope I can make it as well as my mom does every year
But if I make it too, well, she's probably gonna want me to make it every year
We'll see we are going to preheat the oven to 350 grease the pan. I just always have this Pam butter
spray
So easy, we're gonna take our biscuits and quarter them so that they're smaller shapes
That's what makes the pull apart. It's like you're pulling apart these little pieces from the whole
Dessert itself to probably make your dough from scratch, but we've always used biscuit dough and it's come out
So well in a small saucepan, we're gonna melt the butter. This is 3 fourths of a cup of butter
I'm gonna reserve a little bit of the butter to dip the dough in we're gonna mix in the brown sugar
We're gonna make our cinnamon sugar shaker bags the sugar and the cinnamon just down in a paper bag
So that we can coat the biscuit dough
My great-grandmother and I used to make doughnuts out of biscuits to use a thimble to cut the hole out of the center
And she's always let me shake and make the holes up and she would do the frying
Bringing back memories. I'm gonna ball up one of the doughs just kind of dip it in
butter
And drop it into the bag this way the cinnamon and sugar will kind of already stick to the biscuits without the butter
But I think this way is a little better. It gets it to really like
Candy and caramelized. So I'm gonna shake about eight ten eight at a time. There's not so many in there that they can get really coated
For a little bit of our sugar salt in the bottom. We're gonna make a roll of the biscuit dough on the bottom
And then we're gonna sprinkle in the pecans of our sauce and keep alternating the rows like that until we put them on
Gonna bake 35 minutes. Oh
It smells so good cool for about 10 minutes before we take it out and flip it over
Smells so good smells like my mom's
This cannot stay in the house
We're gonna have to start giving it away to friends and family because if this stays in the house
We're gonna eat it all coming to this spot to read to Cade. I wish I had more time to read my own books
I've had one on my Kindle that I've been reading for a while and I also have some books that I want to read this
Fall and winter just to catch up and have and read all the books that I've been holding on to
But it got me thinking the perfect thing to make in your house
This season is a reading nook or a creativity nook. I have this spot
It's perfect in our house to do that because there's no technology in here
There's no TV and there's beautiful sunlight that comes in. It's very calming in this room
So find a spot in your house find your favorite chair and push your chair into that spot
It could be like by a window
Essentials for your reading nook or creativity nook would definitely be a cozy chair and a blanket definitely need to be comfortable
Also push it into a spot that feels warm and cozy have a floor lamp
I love this floor lamp in here because it offers light in a spot that naturally wouldn't have any light at all
Also a table so that you can put your glass of water or hot cocoa or coffee down just creating a dedicated
Really cozy spot in your house so that you can read you can paint
I want to get back to painting in my paint journal
You can journal anything that you can do to really calm and settle your mind
So find the best spot in your house for it
When I wake up I come to YouTube on my TV and I play one of these fall jazz
playlists
That's that either fall leaves or Halloween or rain. It's super calming
It's an amazing way to like get the day started and it puts a pretty visual on the TV
So I have been playing these for years. I love it
I even play it when while I work just as background music background sound it helps me to work better
Also creating a playlist for the fall season is a great way to have like a cozy
Playlist ready to go on your phone when you want to get cozy at home
so I hope you guys
Enjoyed this video and it gave you some ideas on how you can cozy up your home for fall or winter and just the season
In general whenever you're watching this video
I can't believe it took me a whole month to finally get to decorating for fall, but I needed that inspiration
I needed to get going and have the right pieces
So you can really see how a few florals and a few items that I even got from the thrift store can make a really
pretty
Display for your home and definitely for me and decorate with more creativity than practicality because why not?
Why why don't we just have fun with the season? So I will see you guys very soon for another video
We are going to be working on our patio makeover and I have some really exciting makeovers coming in this season
Bye guys, don't do what I did. I burned the first batch of sugar. I
Let it boil for too long. Don't do that
I'm never gonna spit out these words, but it's just so cute
