Golden Retrievers are an energetic breed. They need daily outdoor exercise to stay healthy.
But the real question is, how much exercise does a Golden Retriever need?
We will find out in this video of Retriever Care.
Golden Retrievers were bred to be working dogs, and that's why they are so active and energetic.
So if you are stuck at home with barely anything to do and just some occasional walks,
there will be consequences. The Goldie will most likely develop
some behavioral issues like excessive barking and unnecessary chewing. In the worst case,
the dog may even become aggressive. Well, don't blame them. They need
to get their energy out somewhere, right? Apart from that, gaining all those calories
and not exercising will also lead to obesity. Daily exercise will not only help avoid all
these problems in your Golden Retriever, but it will also keep your dog healthy, fit, and happy.
Over the top, exercising your dog will keep you healthy too.
But how much exercise do they need? Well, there isn't a right answer to this question.
Every Goldie has a different need for exercise. Some dogs are more active and outgoing,
while some are lazy and prefer to stay indoors. However, most Golden Retrievers need at least
one hour of exercise every single day to stay healthy and fit.
Now, this doesn't mean you need to take your dog out for a run for an hour.
Take your dog out for a walk in the morning. Then maybe play with him inside the house.
Then maybe take them to the park. And then a long walk before going to bed.
For Golden Retrievers, you need to give them mental exercise along with the physical one,
for which you can train them or teach them new tricks. You can even get some food puzzle toys
to keep their mind engaged. As I said before, every Golden Retriever has different exercise
needs. My Simba here is a little more on the lazy spectrum. He doesn't like to run,
but he loves to go out on walks and chill in the park. What I'm saying is, take out at least one
hour a day to do some activity with your dog. Keep their mind as well as their body engaged,
and your Golden Retriever will live a long and happy life.
