Trying ALL Drugstore ALLURE WINNERS 2023..

Hi friends, I hope you're doing well.
Guess what time it is?
It's time for the Allure Best of Beauty series, which I do every year on my channel.
I think it was like 2017 or 2018 when I first started doing this series, and at the time
I searched YouTube and nobody had done this before, so I have kept it up.
You guys always love it.
So basically this is where I sit down and try out a full face of the Allure Best of
Beauty award winners.
I feel like the Allure awards for some reason hold just a different weight in the beauty
industry.
Any product that gets that special Allure stamp of approval we all know and recognize.
So over the past several years I have divvied up this series into drugstore products and
high-end products.
Last year I also did the Reader's Choice Awards, which I'm going to be doing again this year
because that's a fun one to do as well.
We're kicking it off with drugstore or affordable products.
A lot of the stuff I had tried before, but a lot of the stuff I haven't.
So first of all, some hair care that won an award that I actually have in my shower.
I just grabbed these.
I've been using this for so long and this specific one in this scent won an award.
So this is the Salter Shampoo and Conditioner, the Moisture Bound specifically.
This smells so good.
I washed my hair with this today, but I wanted to throw it in here because I do enjoy it
so much.
Salter is like a really good brand.
I have really enjoyed so many of their products.
Another product from Salter that won an award is the Fragrance Free AHA Deodorant.
They sent this to me in PR a while back.
I put it on today.
So far so good.
So far, I smell fine.
And then also this serum actually won an award in the clean category, so not even like an
affordable category, but it is a more affordable brand.
It's the Honest Beauty Daily Green Juice Antioxidant Super Serum.
I applied this all over the skin after I showered today and I mean, the texture is really beautiful.
Obviously, I can't say how I like it after just one application, but like it's a really
beautiful texture.
I'm excited to keep using it.
The packaging is also very substantial.
Feels very luxurious.
It's kind of like a water-based feel and then it really sinks into the skin beautifully
and leaves a really nice glow.
So that won an award.
Obviously, I have not had that much time to try it, but I'm excited to continue to try
it.
It also like smells very natural, doesn't have any fragrance in it.
It smells like a very natural skincare product, so some people may not love the scent of that,
but I don't mind it.
This won an award in clean body care.
It's the Alba Sheer Mineral Fragrance-Free Sunscreen SPF 50.
This is only $10.
I decided to try it out.
Here's the situation.
It's like almost a diaper rash cream, I feel, because there's so much zinc in it.
I'm a very fair girly and I'm obsessed with sunscreen, especially mineral sunscreen.
Here's what happened on my face earlier.
I blended and blended and blended and it took me so long to get the white cast off of my
face.
And if it's showing up on me, like that means I bet anybody, even a slightly deeper skin
tone than me, is going to really see this.
So I definitely had to rub it in quite a bit.
Not my favorite application that I've tried.
I'm just so picky with sunscreen.
However, it is the more affordable option, so I don't know.
To each their own.
I will say I do like the glow that it gives, but for me, I found that the pipette sunscreen,
which is like $14, so not that much more than this.
I use that on my body and my face and it is a mineral sunscreen.
Starts out white, but like it really, really blends into the skin beautifully and leaves
a similar glow.
So I'm going to stick to my pipette, but I wanted to try it because I'm such a mineral
sunscreen fan.
Also, I always try out a nail polish that won an award.
This year was a little bit different.
Usually like they used to do like best red nail polish, best nude for light skin, deep
skin, whatever.
And I really, really loved that actually.
But this year they didn't do that.
They just kind of did like best quick dry, best long wear, stuff like that.
And so this was one of the best long wear products and it was part of a collection.
They like gave the entire collection an award.
So I just picked one color.
It's from the Unguilty collection and it is Caught in the Rain.
And I put it all over the nails.
I like the color.
I don't know.
Again, this won an award for best long wear, so I've only been wearing it for a few hours
technically.
So I'll get back to you on how it wears.
I also tried out the Olive and June quick dry top coat.
This is something that I haven't tried before.
I actually really love the Olive and June top coat, the original one.
Hadn't tried this one, so I tried it on top of this.
It did dry pretty quick, but like not super quick to where I was like, wow.
So it is a quicker drying coat, but it's not like the fastest drying I've tried.
But I like the gloss it gives.
So I don't know.
I tried it, but it'll take me a while to get like a full opinion on the top coat.
In the skincare steals category, I had never heard of these.
The NYX Face Freezy reusable cooling under eye patches won an award.
So I picked them up, obviously, for this video.
They've been sitting in the fridge for hours, and now I'm going to use them on my eyes.
So how do you do this?
Put them in the fridge.
Tilt your head back.
Oh no.
Well, so it looks like, ooh, actually that feels so nice.
I don't think I'll be able to tilt my head back, but what I can do is just hold them
here.
Look, it says chill.
Chill, chill.
Feels really nice, actually.
So they don't adhere by themselves, but I bet you if you put an eye cream underneath,
and then if you laid down like it said, you'd get a nice little effect.
I don't know why I thought that I could like wear these and do eyeshadow, because they
don't stay.
Hmm.
So, that's that.
These were 12 bucks.
I don't know if it's something I will use if I have to lay down.
I prefer, which I know this is not like affordable or as affordable as these, but the Dew Skin
Under Eye Patches, the reusable silicone ones, well, I guess they're not cold, but at least
you can wear them and like do your makeup and they don't fall off.
So I don't know.
This seems more gimmicky than I initially thought.
Does feel nice.
But like, I honestly like, I don't know how often I would use something like this.
Maybe if I like cry before bed and then wake up with puffy eyes, something like this might
come in handy and then you could flip it over and do the eyelids too.
I don't know, guys.
Except my eyes do feel nice.
I don't know.
That's a confusing one.
This product won Best Matte Primer, which I'm really excited about because I personally
love this stuff.
This is the ELF Liquid Poreless Putty Primer.
I think it's so good.
So I was happy to see that this won an award.
What's cool about this one is they have a steals category for like drugstore, more affordable
products, but then they obviously have other categories for like just eyes, just face,
just lips.
And this won overall, like drugstore and high-end, Best Matte Primer.
So that's exciting.
We're going to apply this in the T-Zone because I have another product I want to use on the
outer portions of the face.
In the Makeup Steals category, this little number right here won an award, which I feel
like it's well-deserved, the ELF Halo Glow Liquid Filter.
This stuff went viral this year, or was it last year?
I don't know.
Recently.
So I'm just going to put that on the outside of the face and I'm going to blend it out
with my brush.
I forgot to tell you guys, I also bought some French pins because these won an award.
I've never used French pins before, but this is from Target, so I, you know, I'm wearing
them in this video.
And I mean, I think they're pretty.
I don't think I did a very good job.
I had to watch like a tutorial or two, and my hair is just like a little bit too short
for it to work the way that I feel like it's supposed to, but really pretty.
These are the Kristen S. French pins.
Anyway, I like to sometimes just grab little things that won awards, like hair things too,
just to try for fun, you know?
There was not a drugstore foundation that won an award this year.
Why?
Like, why couldn't they have thrown a good drugstore foundation into the steals category?
Okay, so I'm going to wear what I feel like should have won an award.
This is the Maybelline Superstay Skin Tint.
I'm going to put this all over the face and then we will go into concealer, because concealer
also didn't have a drugstore winner.
What is that about?
And I get that they like don't try to do every single category, drugstore and high-end, but
like there are hundreds of winners, and this seems to be a theme I've noticed the past
couple of years.
Well, actually the past several years.
I just feel like the drugstore award winners just don't really like match up with what's
actually good and available at the drugstore, so, you know, I feel like we're running into
the same problem again this year that we've run into for several years, because there's
like heaps of high-end products to try, like so many, and it's not like there's not amazing
things that launched recently that are at the drugstore, you know?
Like, I just feel like it deserves a little more, a little more love.
So I'm going to just put on my NYX concealer, since we don't have a concealer winner for
today.
I'm just going to press that under the eyes.
This next product I'm so excited to try.
It's the Revolution Cream Bronzer.
I've heard good things about this.
I can't remember if it was Mr. Johnny Ross that talked about this.
I can't remember off the top of my head, but I've like heard about it several times, and
I've heard good things.
So I was excited to see that this won an award, because it gave me an excuse to try it.
So this comes in three shades, I think.
I got the shade Light.
I'm just going to pick that up on like a small little brush.
I'm going to kind of tap it into the back of my hand a little bit first before going
in.
Ooh.
This is pretty pigmented.
Just kind of buffing this out.
It's blending beautifully.
And this is like a smaller, more precise brush, which can sometimes be a little bit hard to
blend with.
Not this one specifically, but it just takes more time.
But this is like blending really seamlessly.
Ooh.
I like the color of this, too.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
I'm really into that.
Like, super.
I'm just taking my foundation brush and kind of going over the edges.
And then, guess what won Best Contour Wand?
This.
The Halo Glow Beauty Wand Contour.
To be fair, there's only like two contour wands out there.
Well, there's probably more, but there's like the Charlotte Tilbury one and this one that
are popular.
Anyway, this has a little bit more of a cool tone to it, so I figured I would actually
apply this after the bronzer, just to kind of give a little more structure to the face.
Like this.
Yeah.
I'll probably just leave it at that for now.
And I'm just going to actually use the same brush to kind of blend that out.
In the Makeup Steals category for Loose Powder, the number seven Flawless Finish Loose Powder
in Translucent won an award.
Now, as I was buying this, I saw the reviews weren't so good because I guess they discontinued
their other powder?
The Best Powder Ever?
And then they replaced it with this.
And people aren't happy.
I'm going to apply this underneath the eyes first with my little Beauty Blender Puff.
So let's go ahead and press this under the eyes.
Oh, oh, I was thoroughly prepared to be like disappointed, but that looks fine.
It looks really good, actually.
Actually, it looks really good.
I'm just kind of pressing this in the T-zone.
And then this little Wet n Wild brush won an award.
It was like $3 and it won Best Powder Brush.
Hmm.
I don't know if this is right.
I don't know.
Was this the Steals category?
Okay, this was in the Steals category.
It's $3.
It says, gives a seamless, streak-free finish.
And despite the unassuming price, you've yet to see the Wet n Wild powder brush shed a
single bristle.
All right, well, I guess I should try it out fully.
I don't know.
I'm just, the reason why I'm a little skeptical, not skeptical, but just kind of feels, well,
it's fine.
A little bit messy.
It sure is doing the job, but I feel like it's kind of like one of those things where
if you spend a couple more bucks on like an e.l.f. brush, it could be a little better.
I'm not terribly mad at it, but it's not like the best brush from the drugstore I've ever
tried.
It's okay.
It's not scratchy.
It's not scratchy, which is actually surprising considering the $3 price point.
There were no blushes or highlighters that won awards this year, so I'm going to take
the Essence Baked Blush, which kind of has like a shimmery finish to it.
I'm just taking that Wet n Wild brush and popping it on the cheeks.
You know, this brush actually isn't bad.
Maybe it's growing on me.
Okay.
This won Best Powder Foundation.
So again, not in the steals category, but it happens to be drugstore.
This is the Maybelline Superstay Hybrid Powder Foundation.
I picked mine up in the shade 110.
Okay, so technically I guess this was a foundation that won, now that I think of it.
I guess I didn't consider it to be because I normally use powder foundations or like
pigmented pressed powders as like finishing powders more than all over the face.
But if you guys have tried this as your foundation, and if you like it, let me know in the comments.
I'm just going to kind of use it to further set and blur the lines around the cheeks a
little bit, kind of brighten things up here, and let's do a little bit right here underneath
the eyes.
Oh, that actually brightened quite nicely.
Ooh.
That looks really smooth on the skin.
I actually really like that.
Ooh.
That's cute.
All right, for eyeshadow, they did it kind of different this year.
They kind of had like Best 4-Pan Eyeshadow Palette, Best 16-Pan Eyeshadow Palette, Best
20-Pan Eyeshadow Palette, instead of just like Best Eyeshadow Palette, which is kind
of interesting.
However, I had a little mishap with one of these.
Let's see.
The Best 4-Color Eyeshadow Palette went to the Maybelline Shadow Blocks.
These are $13.
And when I bought mine, I brought it off Target.
It came used.
Like somebody's paws were in here before.
There's like fingerprints in here.
So I'm not going to use it.
I actually need to return it.
I just haven't yet.
I don't know.
I don't know about these because I feel like the e.l.f. quads are better than this.
I mean, I haven't tried them, but just based on like the weight of this, it looks more
substantial than it feels.
Anyway, so wasn't able to try that.
But luckily, Juvia's Place has an eyeshadow palette, Best 16-Color Eyeshadow Palette,
the Juvia's Place Candy Shop Eyeshadow Palette.
So luckily I bought this because when I saw that that was tampered with, I was like, no,
not today.
So let's try this one.
It's a really cute, colorful palette, like super colorful.
Look at this.
We'll do a little eye look with this.
I'm wanting to start off with this color right here.
I'm going to use this as my transition shade.
It's a really pretty light pink.
And I'm going to apply that to the lower lash line as well.
And then let's take a little bit of this deeper brown color right here to create a little
more depth and dimension just on like the outer corners.
And then I'm going to take this color at the top.
This just looks so pretty.
And I'm going to start applying this to the eyelid.
Oh, I love the little shift we have going on here.
That's pretty.
Oh, I love that.
That is so, so nice.
Wow.
I feel like I don't want to go too overboard with like too many colors.
So I'm going to have to like try more of those shades in a second.
The reason why is because I also wanted to pop on this chrome eyeshadow from ColourPop.
This won best chrome eyeshadow wand.
Twelve bucks.
I grabbed the shade Glaze, although they do have several different shades.
But I feel like this is going to look really pretty with what we've got going on here.
I'm going to dollop a little bit of that onto the back of my hand.
And let's see how this works on top.
I'm going to focus this on like the inner portion of the lid.
Honestly, maybe I should have done this as like the base and then topped it with that
other topper.
How was I supposed to know?
First time playing with so many formulas, you know.
But wow, that's pretty.
I'm liking this little chrome, duochrome kind of situation.
Let's take that on the lower lash line.
Actually, what if I take it from the wand directly?
Kind of just pop it right here and then blend it out with my brush.
I think that's working pretty.
The best color gel eyeliner award went to the L'Oreal Color Gel Liners.
These are 11 bucks.
I happen to have these in my collection.
And I'm like, ooh, should we go with like this fun turquoise?
It's literally called turquoise.
I want to try this on the top lash line.
That's fun.
I'm not going to lie, this eye look is looking really cute with like the chrome and the duochrome.
They're so pretty.
And then I'm just going to do a little bit on the outer third of that lower lash line.
I feel like that made it look weird.
So now I feel like I need more on the top lid.
And then maybe even a little in the waterline.
I don't know.
Maybe I got a little carried away there.
The best mascara primer award goes to the Maybelline Sky High Mascara Primer.
Now this is actually a tinted primer.
So it comes in soft black.
It's $13.
We're going to try it out.
So I'm going to start with this primer on the top and bottom lashes.
It looks like a full-on mascara.
Oh no, I got a glob of it on my lower lash line.
Hopefully it wipes off the way that mascara does.
Who knows?
Okay, like what's the difference?
Is this basically just a mascara?
I'm going to use the L'Oreal Telescopic Lift, which won Best Lengthening Mascara.
We're going to put this on top.
I have no idea if this is made to go on top of this or not.
I think it's formulated to work with the Maybelline Sky High.
But if it wasn't Best Primer, I'm assuming you can use it with whatever mascara.
Ooh, I mean, I do feel like it's doing something.
Okay, I'm trying to dust away that mascara primer.
It seems to be coming off the way mascara would.
So here's the mascara with the primer.
I mean, my lashes definitely look very voluminous.
So I feel like the primer worked.
I'm going to have to try that with other mascaras that I'm familiar with to see like
if it really adds oomph, but it feels nice.
Also, the Maybelline Falsy Surreal Mascara won, and the Essence Lash Princess Mascara
won an award, too.
Wanted to just mention those really quickly.
Oh, guys, I realized I never mentioned the St. Ives Lip Scrub in Juicy Watermelon.
This was like five bucks.
I used it today.
It felt nice.
To be honest, I'm not really a lip scrub girly, but it was a nice experience.
I'm not mad at it.
All right, so I just wiped off the foundation on the lips, and there's not a drugstore
lip liner that won, although I feel like the NYX should have won an award.
I'm sure they've won before.
If they haven't, why?
These are like the best.
I'm using Nude Beige, and then in the Makeup Steals category, the Flower Beauty Plump Up
Gloss Stick won an award.
I've got the shade Sizzle.
It's one of those like click up pens.
It's like basically a lip gloss and a stick.
So I'm going to apply that all over.
That actually looks so pretty with the eye look I made.
Okay, has like a little bit of a plumping effect.
And then in the Makeup Steals category, the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Yummy Gloss won an award.
I've never used this, and I've especially never used this on top of Flower Beauty,
so we'll see how this goes.
Oh, well, I definitely applied way too much.
Hold on.
It's like glooping together.
Okay, okay.
I layered those two up.
It feels nice.
I know this comes in lots of colors.
The one I used was like the clear one.
It's buttery though.
I like that.
All right, we are going to assess the situation really quickly.
And I'm just going to like redo my brows a little bit.
This is the Maybelline Brow Pencil.
This did not win an award, although it's really good.
It's one of my favorites right now.
Best Tinted Brow Gel goes to this right here.
But then I saw in the Steals category, the Sephora Shape and Set Clear Brow Gel.
This is $12.
Normally, I wouldn't consider Sephora to be like a drugstore, you know, option.
But the Sephora collection does have more affordable things.
So I wanted to try this because it's a clear brow gel.
And I'm a fan of clear brow gel.
So I'm just going to go ahead and throw this into the brows.
I do feel like the spoolie picked up quite a bit of product,
which I don't love when it comes to a brow product
because I feel like it's hard to shape the brow if you've got too much on there.
But I'm seeming to make it work.
Let's see.
Okay, kind of had to dab off some of that.
There's quite a bit that got picked up on the brush.
I do like the applicator.
Okay, I mean, that seems nice.
I don't know, besides the amount of product on the wand,
which I bet I can work with.
That's really pretty.
All right, I'm going to add a little more blush with whatever's left on the blush brush.
I mean, my look turned out really cohesive today.
Looks like a little bubblegum candy shop.
Plus my nails.
I don't know.
I feel like kind of getting this.
Guys, keep in mind, there are so many more affordable products that won awards.
These were just the majority of the makeup category that won.
Okay, this brow gel is setting really nicely.
If you want to see the entire list, obviously, I will have it linked down below for you guys
so you can see what other steals that they have.
They do have like a lot of body care, hair care, things like that,
which I dabble in, but I'm obviously more into the makeup.
So that's what I wanted to try most.
I actually really love how my look turned out.
I wish they had a drugstore setting spray because I feel like this look
needs like a little setting spray.
But overall, really happy with how everything looks.
I will say the things that I'm like really excited about are the cream bronzer from Revolution.
I feel like that blended out so beautifully.
I really loved the tone and undertone of this.
It's definitely like a classic bronzer.
So it's going to warm up the face versus sculpt like this one.
Another new thing that I really am into is the eyeshadow.
Like this little chrome moment with this little palette right here.
I'm going to have to dig into this palette more.
Obviously, I only used a couple of shades, but it really is a fun, colorful palette.
So let me know if you want to see me use this palette more.
I'm really excited about some of these like duochromes in here.
Like the metallics are actually so stunning.
Like what?
Yeah, that's really pretty.
And then a little ColourPop chrome situation.
Heard a lot of good things about this.
So I'm excited to try more of the colors.
Love that turquoise eyeliner, even though I feel like it got a little carried away.
I feel like it works.
I'm excited about the brow gel.
I will leave a note down below letting you know how things were by the end of the day today.
Also very, very intrigued by the primer from Maybelline.
So I'm excited to keep wearing that.
And honestly, like this powder, even though it didn't have the best reviews,
that stuff is pretty.
Like it looks really nice underneath the eyes.
Maybe it's because I used a puff.
So I feel like out of everything, if you haven't tried, you know, the classics like this or like
this, you know, or like this, all the e.l.f. things, if you haven't tried any of those,
you should try those.
If you have them already, I would say this little number, a little ColourPop chrome,
maybe this if you're into it.
It's kind of what I'm like feeling the most right now.
So yeah, that's the full face with the drugstore Allure products.
I gotta say, I love how this look turned out.
So let me know in the comments down below if you guys have tried any of these things.
Let me know if you feel like some of these things are not your favorites and what else
you feel like should have been added into the drugstore or Steele's award categories.
I feel like there could have been a lot more.
Maybe that's where the Reader's Choice Awards come in.
I'm pretty sure there's quite a few drugstore products in there.
I could be wrong, but I feel like us beauty obsessed girlies, we know what's good at the
drugstore and just some of the things don't get as much Allure love as I feel like they
should.
But overall, I feel like I love how my makeup looks today.
Stay tuned for the high-end version coming next.
That is going to be a really fun one.
Like I said before, the high-end version, I mean, there's just so much more to try.
So many more new things that I've never heard of or never got to try.
Stay tuned for that one.
Thanks for watching today's video.
I hope you enjoyed this.
If you want to see other Allure drugstore winner videos from previous years, I'll have
the playlist down below for you guys.
I hope you have an amazing day wherever you are, and I will see you in my next video.
Love you.
Bye!
