To officially go.
Let's get it.
For the best in universal, premium, ester-containing engine oils and fuel additives
for both petrol and diesel engines, check the links in the description.
Chris, welcome to the channel.
Thank you very much.
Bro, so we've actually been acquainted before.
We've actually done some cool stuff with this car
that we'll allude to, I think, more at the end of the video or somewhere in the video.
Keep it a secret.
You keep it a bit of a secret.
A teaser.
Now, we have got a crazy GR Yaris.
In fact, the most powerful in the UK right now, right?
Currently, right now.
Right now.
And it's just a bonkers amount of power.
So let's start with that.
Yeah, so it was dynoed about a month ago at SRD Tuning.
That run, yeah, 692 wheel horsepower at 2.9 bar.
2.9 bar.
The rest to follow.
We're talking in and around 800 brake on this little 1.6 three-cylinder.
Yes, and more to come.
And more to come.
See, I like your style.
Let's talk about the turbo that's supplying all that boost to that little engine.
We're running now a Precision 5862.
Okay.
This has been custom built, not the turbo itself, obviously,
but everything that goes around it by SRD Tuning.
They build everything in-house.
It's a sidewinder because the stock turbo would normally sit behind the engine bay.
Being a 1.6 and only a three-cylinder, how the hell is it handling this kind of power?
It seems bonkers.
The engine itself, I've had a new short block, standard from Toyota.
That's been honed, balanced.
I'm running Kelford B cams now, forged rods, pistons, 1600 injectors,
complete fuel setup, radium and SRD Tuning, custom made.
Okay.
What ECU are you using?
5X.
So we've got this big turbo.
We've got this little engine.
Now, traditionally, a small engine with a big turbo will suffer from a lot of lag.
However, you've added a little something else just to combat that, right?
Yeah.
So I ran, prior to this one, I ran the 550, which was superb on lower end torque.
Really, really nice responsive turbo.
Then went to a 660, loved the top end power, but it lacked on the torque.
So yes, now running the 5862, you're going to see a slight difference in your early torque power.
So I decided to add nitrous.
Because why not?
Yeah, why not?
So you've got nitrous to spool that snail,
and it's a nice little 50 shot just to get things moving, yeah?
Yeah.
The nitrous is mappable, so it'll only come on...
There's two maps I've got it working on.
And at the moment, and as you'll see on the OG battle, it was capped at two bar.
Okay.
So as soon as you hit two bar, the nitrous will switch off.
If we can go around to the inside and show them what kind of transmission you're using.
An X-Shift 7 speed sequential.
Wicked.
So I'm running lever and paddles, which is air shift.
So I have the option of clutch, clutchless, lever, paddles.
Mate, this car is...
You'll see.
Guys, this car is too mad.
It's got carbon fibre everywhere.
It's literally race car.
And I'm looking at your dash.
Is that a Haltech dash?
Yeah.
Tell us a little bit about what's going on in the interior there too.
Started off with Recaro CSs.
Just found that the pole positions I ended up buying were more comfortable.
Sure.
And then thought, rally car, can't have pole positions.
Too comfortable.
So ended up going with OMP X-Belt.
Interior wise, steering wheel control panel is made by Chris Pello, Phoenix Composites.
Can we pop the boot too?
Of course.
Just one of the three...
We've got a little spoiler there.
Another big one there.
And a little one there just in case.
And a little side flex there too.
Get carried away.
Downforce is why.
Looking back here.
So we spoke earlier, this is your compressor tank for the air shift.
Obviously a bit of safety there.
But the bottle we care about is...
Yeah, that's the one that we'll be trying today.
Well, actually, Jamie will.
Because as you'll see, hint, hint, OG Battle's coming soon.
I'm not the best driver in the world.
Stop it, stop it.
I'm running 9.5 on 18s, but I'm running 40 mil spacers on the rear and 30.
Which isn't great for track days.
But to be fair, the bearings have held up.
And what's stopping this little beast?
So I'm currently running DBA discs and pads and stock calipers.
Interesting.
Now, I have looked at the AP Racing.
It's a balance at the moment.
It seems to be working on what it is at the moment.
But I guess at one point I will have to upgrade.
Sure.
I did want carbo brake.
Can't afford them.
Give us a shout.
There you go.
Now, before we do hit the road in this bad boy.
You spent a lot of money on this car.
Yes.
If I spent as much as you spent on your car,
how much would I have spent?
Just to confuse things by saying it like that.
OK, right.
So the end figure, I haven't calculated it.
But I would estimate between 150 and 200.
Oh my God, it's a lot of money.
But it's a lot of joy.
And it's a lot of car.
Do you know what?
It's because I've changed it so many times to get a build.
You could buy a car, a GR Yaris.
I'm in the motor trade for 25, 26 grand.
You could get it to this stage for probably another 30 grand,
maybe 40 grand.
Do it once.
Yes, yes.
Learn by my mistakes.
There you go, bro.
Not four times.
But a journey.
It's all about the journey.
Not the destination, right?
Cool, cool.
Well, with that said, I guess the proof of the pudding is always in the eating.
So shall we go out and take this little bad boy for a rip?
Go on then.
Let's go.
So, map three, letting the paddles do the work, yeah?
Yes.
All right, okay.
Just a case of holding on.
He's so angry.
He is, like his owner.
This car shouldn't be doing this.
No.
It's a 1.6 3-cylinder.
Are you witnessing this, guys?
That is when...
Do you know what?
I was actually thinking in my head it would be more dramatic when you're changing it yourself.
Yeah.
But it's almost, I don't know, for a passenger seat at least,
it seems more dramatic when you just let it change itself.
Almost because perhaps I can't see you reach it with a stick and change it.
It just comes, like, you know.
It takes a lot, even like from...
I've had it, what?
Two months now.
It takes you a long time to get used to it because you're automatically in a manual car.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You want to put your clutch down, you want to go there.
For sure.
You've just got to literally just...
Is it going to change?
That is savage.
Yeah, I mean, I think we were sort of kicking in about 8,000-ish RPM.
Is that why it's changing like that?
Yeah.
Bro, I can't believe a three-cylinder car...
And it's...
Bro, I just love this gearbox.
Oh, my God.
Bro, this is brave.
This is rapid.
What kind of power do you think we're making without the NOS?
About six.
Well, at OG, we've had exactly the same without NOS,
and it was around 600 wheel horsepower.
600 wheels.
So probably about 700-ish.
Ish.
Give it, yeah.
Bro, this moves.
Yeah.
It just builds and builds and builds and...
Yeah, look, big turbo.
Lag when you initially put your foot down,
but once you're on, you're on.
That sequential, don't drop off boost.
No, I think the benefit with the precision turbo I've got now
is that the lag is a lot shorter than it was on a 660.
Okay.
660 seems to stay there to about 5,000,
where this starts building for about four, four and a half.
Okay.
So you don't notice it.
Yeah, yeah, it doesn't, it's not terrible.
Really.
I mean, the only way I'll see you notice it
is when you've driven a 550 turbo.
And then pop in.
Yeah, yeah, that's when you notice it.
You think, oh, actually, that's a bit different.
It feels a bit quicker.
Chris, this is insane, bro.
This is honestly insane.
I absolutely love this.
Yeah.
I was recently at WRC.
A lot of people have probably seen that.
And there's only three rally teams.
One of them's Toyota.
You've got Ford and they've got Hyundai.
And Toyota used the GR Yaris.
And so I've seen these tearing around how they set.
And bro, this is it.
It's legit, it's like being in a WRC car.
This is probably running more power.
Oh, I'm sure it is, yeah.
But obviously, power to weight ratio,
the driver sat inside was probably about
100 brake horsepower less than he needs, but yeah.
But bro, this is what you've done with this car.
I honestly want to shake your hand, let people know,
I love people like you who just go that extra mile.
And you've done it right.
This is honestly so sick.
I appreciate it.
You know, if you can, because not everyone can.
And I get that.
Yeah.
You know, I'm in a position where I can.
This doesn't mean I'm rich.
It just means I love this car.
Yeah, you've honed in.
And I've just thought, do you know what?
Let's go.
Do it.
Yeah.
Now enjoy it.
That's right.
So I think the best way to start is probably going to be
just letting it do it itself, I think.
Knock it down into second.
And I'm going to put my foot down and go for the best.
This is insane.
This is like a bolt action rifle.
I'm sorry.
This is...
I am a kid in a candy shop right here.
Who gets angry?
Bro, this is immense.
This is great.
This is...
I want one.
Honestly, this is such a tool.
This is such a tool.
Bro, honestly, I'm shaking your hand.
This is...
Yeah, it's a nice little weekend toy.
More than that, bro.
You've built a WRC car.
I've tried.
All right, it's Nod's time, boys.
Nod's time.
It's like Excalibur.
Only the chosen one can use the Nod's.
Oh, there we go.
I heard it.
I'm excited to get back down the gym.
All right, so we'll have to purge it.
Okay.
And is there a button to purge?
There is, just down there.
There's a check button.
Press it now?
Yep.
We're just purging the Nod's in a Yaris GR like it's normal, guys.
Are we purged or do we need to give it a little bit more of a purge?
It comes out of the front.
Yeah.
Sick.
Bro, this is Fast and Furious.
Yeah, of course.
This is Fast and Furious.
All right, second gear.
Yep.
Ready?
Go.
All right, let's go.
It just continues to pull.
I can feel the Nod's.
It's more of like an assist, isn't it?
Yeah.
It's like just to get the turbo spooling.
What it's doing is enabling you to get from that like 3,000 to 4,000 a lot quicker or
three and a half to four.
And then as soon as you hit two bar, it does cut out.
Until Magic Mike changes it and he puts it up on all the time, then you'd have Nod's
all the way up to eight.
All the way up to eight.
Yeah, yeah.
But essentially, we're using the Nod's for a spooling tune just to get us going.
Yeah.
Right, second gear pull.
Nod's on.
Hold on tight.
Let's go.
Mate, it's the way it gets there.
Yeah, that was fast.
Mate, the way it does it, the way it just applies the power, it is...
Do you know what?
Shout out to SRD.
They've built a car for me and tuned a car for me before.
They know what they're doing.
And I can't lie, they have honestly...
What they've done to this car?
Everything.
They have...
Yeah.
Shout out to you, boys.
You've killed it, honestly.
Yeah.
I mean, to be fair, I think this is their favourite car.
Oh, really?
That's what they tell you?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, guys.
So we're ending the video here.
Today has been...
It has been an event, bro.
This car is like...
It blew me away.
Honestly, I was hoping it would be this good and it was as good as I would have hoped.
It's just everything about it.
I think it's like...
As a petrol head, for one, you've got to love a sequential gearbox, you know?
And you've also got to love something that is kind of rally orientated.
And this is what it feels like I'm in right now, a rally car.
And the fact that it's so bonkers, bro.
It's a three-cylinder making 800 brake horsepower.
They're about 692 at the tyre.
It's like it doesn't make sense, but it works so well together.
I think the package that the guys at SRD have built, it works for this car.
It works for me.
It may not work for everybody.
For sure.
But it works for me.
And, you know, they have built me my dream car.
Yeah, yeah.
And people might not get that at home because you could have a Porsche, Ferrari and all that.
But do you know what?
The fun I have in this and...
Bro, no, 100%.
I vouch for that.
Guys, this is so sick.
And on a circuit, because I know you track this too.
Like, what a weapon you guys have built.
Like, honestly, shout out to SRD.
I'm not even trying to kiss ass or anything.
What you guys have built together is epic.
So thank you once again.
Thank you for allowing me to come onto the video and to show these people what the car can do.
Because it hasn't done it realistically on camera until today.
There you go.
So now you know.
So where can people find you?
Home address.
Yeah, we want his home address.
Instagram, I suppose, is the only thing.
I'm not, you know, huge on there.
But I'm on there if you want to follow.
I should be doing loads more track days.
I should be doing Santa Pod.
I'll post it all on Instagram if you want to follow.
Yeah, cool.
Well, I'll leave links down below to his Instagram so you can find him.
And guys, as ever, if you have enjoyed today, make sure you smash that subscribe button.
Because we do crazy stuff like this all the time.
Share these videos because it helps.
And yeah, for sure, we will catch you on the next one.
Peace.
Legend.
Too kind.
