Mbom 8. The latest multi-role Mbom 8 infantry combat vehicle was unveiled at Kazakhstan
Defense Expo in June 2016. It is designed by South African-based Defense and Aerospace Solutions
provider Paramount Group in partnership with Kazakhstan Engineering Distribution and Kazakhstan
Paramount Engineering. Mbom 8 is based on Mbom 6x6 armored fighting vehicle and is intended to
meet modern tactical operational needs of the land forces. The Mbom 8 features an armored hull
and mine-resistant flat floor technology and is based on 8x8 wheeled chassis. It can accommodate
4 crew members and 8 dismounts. The gross vehicle weight and kerg weight of the vehicle are 28T
and 19T respectively. The infantry fighting vehicle is operated with different types of
armament based on the mission requirement. The standard configuration allows for the
installation of 30mm or 57mm turret to engage light armored targets. The vehicle can survive
the detonation of up to 10kg TNT mine blast below the hull and a 10kg TNT blast underneath
any wheel. It can also withstand 50kg TNT blast at the sides. Armored fighting vehicle is driven
by a 450hp 6-cylinder, turbo-charged diesel engine, coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission
system that gives increased road speed. Vehicle can attain a maximum speed of 110kmh on the road
and travel up to a range of 800km.
