If you need life advice, you can't do better than a President. In Ask A President, former President Bill Clinton offers his sage advice on everything from the calming effect of an oval-shaped office, to his preference for almond milk. Nick Bernstein has questions about leadership, Olivia wants to see a women President, Winnie needs help with vegan alternatives, and Ian Karmel is curious who is Clinton's favorite fictional president.
Everybody has concerns, things that they want to know about their lives and their future
and they wish that they could somehow just get in front of the president
and ask them what they would do.
Well today, we're in luck because we have a president right here.
We also have a staff at the Late Late Show looking for guidance.
This is Ask a President with President Bill Clinton.
Okay, so, Mr. President, some of the Late Late Show staff, they've got questions
that they can only resolve with the help of someone who has held the office
of the President of the United States.
Would you be willing to answer some of those questions?
Absolutely.
Well then you are the perfect person for this job.
Okay, who has something they would like to ask a president?
Let's go to Nick Bernstein. Nick is the Senior Vice President of Late Night.
Okay, West Coast.
There is no junior, there is no president.
Technically not a president in any way whatsoever.
I cannot stress how beneath you this moment is.
Okay, Nick, go for it. What's your question?
Thank you for that introduction.
My question is, what makes a good leader?
Is it someone who's good at compromising or maybe someone who's good at yelling?
I think it's someone who knows how to compromise his yelling.
And also, someone who's, if possible, has the right kind of office.
For example, if you can afford to renovate your office,
you should turn it into an oval office.
Because when people go in, it sort of has a psychologically calming effect on them
and they want to be bigger.
And plus, there's no corner to hide in.
So, sooner or later, everybody says,
What do you say we get something done?
There you go, Nick. That's some good advice.
Who else has a question?
Let's go to Olivia. Olivia's a writer on the show.
Olivia's just there behind the camera. Go for it, Olivia.
I'm pretty bummed that we haven't had a woman president yet.
Do you think that we'll see one during our lifetime?
God, I hope so.
I still see one that I consider the president on a fairly regular basis.
I always wanted a woman president.
I'm glad that we had a black president.
I think we'll have a Latino president.
I think we'll have a gay president.
We're a democracy.
We'll get more diverse and we'll do other things.
If we get the right candidate and the right conditions and the right coverage,
I think we can get a woman president.
All right. Let's see who else has got a question.
Let's go to Winnie.
Winnie works here at the Lay Ledger.
Winnie, what would you like to ask the president?
Hi. So, I'm thinking of going vegan.
What plant-based milk is the best?
Well, some people think oat milk is the healthiest,
but I prefer the taste of almond milk,
and I drink almond milk exclusively if I can.
My favorite plant-based drink, however, is vodka.
That's a very good plant-based drink.
What about you, Ian? Do you have a question for the president of the United States?
Hello, Mr. President.
Hi.
It's an honor to meet you.
Who's your favorite fictional president?
Oh, man, there have been so many good ones.
I like Tony Golan.
I like Martin Sheen.
I like Michael Douglas.
I love Harrison Ford.
And Morgan Freeman and Donald Trump.
We've solved some huge problems here,
and we couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you so much, Mr. President.
That was Ask a President with Bill Clinton.
We'll be right back, everybody.
What about that?
Hey, what about having President Clinton here?
Wasn't he fantastic?
So great. So great.
Imagine that. Imagine going home tonight and saying,
oh, and President Clinton was there.
And they go, wow.
And they go, yeah.
I got to ask him a question.
No, you didn't.
Yeah.
What did you ask?
I asked him about oat milk.
That's all you wanted to know.
Is he vegan?
We'll be right back with more of The Lay Lay Show, everybody.
