Good day
And a warm welcome from Poland
Our second major Easy German Tour has begun
After the USA we are now visiting Central Europe For three weeks
we will travel through Poland the Czech Republic and Austria
And our first stop is here in Ostrów-Jakubowski
a beautiful small town in the center of Poland
Konrad has invited us here
Hello Konrad Hello
Why did you invite us to your city
Also I found this idea very good
to invite you and yes I just did it
Our first topic in comparing
Germany and Poland is people How do
people appear to us Konrad what is your opinion
What is the difference between Germans and Poles
Also I mean that Poles are not as nice and friendly as Germans
Also a very large number of Poles that is most Poles think that Germans are very unfriendly
They are not so friendly but I don't think
that way so And Janusz what do you say
What is the big difference between the people in Germany and Poland I even
fear that there are no
big differences between the people in Poland and Germany
And if so then they are statistical differences
Also probably I would also say that there are more people in Poland who just
They are somewhat poor and somewhat stressed and don't have the time or the luxury to do so
Being kind to everyone especially because they
are too busy with their very difficult lives right
But just like in Germany there are many friendly wonderful great
people in Poland and you just have to get to know them right
This is funny and I think my experience is that we are in Germany and Poland
People are roughly equally unfriendly so one doesn't necessarily want to talk to strangers
I sometimes feel that in Poland it is actually a bit grayer still
The first but only at first glance because upon closer
look the Poles are much much warmer than the Germans
Also when you meet someone you are immediately invited to eat and
Drinking coffee and having another cake and another cake and that
doesn't happen in Germany where people are immediately invited
Yes and you observed that very well because actually we would want to
We would
be doing exactly as you describe based
on the experience we have had
so far Thank you Janusz You're welcome
Hello dear people we are now in Wrocław the third day of our trip and we yes
Show you our apartment we actually rented an apartment
here and let's see who's there Janusz what did you just buy
I bought some pierogi with various fillings as you can see this is the tastiest one
With spinach and cheese and
that's the best those are really fresh delicious salads completely completely great
Do you miss Polish food in Germany Janusz No not really
but when I'm in Poland I really look forward to it
Especially the salads not even the pierogi
Let me show you our apartment for a moment we've rented a very nice apartment
Here is Janusz eating and here is our workplace on this computer I am transmitting
I'm just uploading the files for the new episode Kari Answers which will go online shortly
I'm here and now I'm going to show you Janusz is editing the next Easy German episode and
Now I'm going here is Janusch's guitar and now I'm going to the window to show you
Well where we live we actually live right in the middle of Wrocław at the Rynek that is the Market Square
That's when people are celebrating carrying other people around like me
Look around and scream is that typical of Poles No because that exists also in
Germany but typical of Poland is this beautiful market square and indeed I have that
Germany has never been seen there is a marketplace in the center of the city that is
It's naturally normal to have a bit of that in European cities but this marketplace is from the inside
Also cultivated and there stands the town hall and various houses yes that's a small one
Impression from Wrocław Janusz enjoy your meal and we will get back to you later we are just in
Hello in Breslau in Wrocław in a beer cellar with the rest of our Easy German Stammtisc
and we talked about typical German and Polish words and names and I have two
Learned something new once you use a German name namely Helga as a name
as an insult for a typical strict German teacher so when someone says that's but a
Helga so they mean a strict German woman a strict German teacher right Exactly And ye
A name used in Czechia is Helmut as a name for all Germans Is there
I am making a video of Janusz driving through the warehouse on the lift truck
Now we are here in the school building We are going out and filming an episode of Super Easy German with a group of German students that Lukasz teaches here
This is Dennis Dennis what is that That is a coat of arms That is the coat of arms of Poland It consists of a red background with a white eagle wearing a crown
Justyna what was it like when you learned German what was the funniest German word you learned Hangover
"Katzenjammer " I just asked Justyna Why is this word so funny
Because the whole class laughed at this word because in Polish there is also a word "kot" which is said when someone has had a little too much to drink and in German it's not "Kater" but "Katze"
And that's the joke we just found that out ourselves In Polish it's "kot " I have a "kot " meaning I have a cat in German it's "Kater " and in English it's "Hangover "
Also this is very similar in Polish and German but it is used in reverse A cat is "kot" in Polish and "Katze" in German roughly like that
Thank you Justyna for inviting us to Katowice and we are now continuing on our journey
Attila is from Hungary and has lived both in Germany and Poland so I am particularly interested in your opinion what is the biggest difference between Germany and Poland
But that makes life very easy when you just say I like it or I don't like it
