Margot Robbie is a HUGE fan of Cate Blanchett 💕 @OfficialGrahamNorton ✨ BBC
"Margot Robbie tells Cate Blanchett that she has always been her acting idol, and thought the closest she would get to meeting her was watching her give a speech in Melbourne.
Together on Graham’s sofa tonight: double Oscar-winning Cate Blanchett, talking about her critically acclaimed role as a powerful conductor brought down by accusations of abuse in Tár; actor and producer Margot Robbie, starring in Damien Chazelle’s epic Hollywood drama Babylon; singer and West End star Beverley Knight discusses her return to the stage in Sylvia; and top comic Alan Carr, renovating a Sicilian home in new BBC show Amanda & Alan's Italian Job. And of course, two Aussie stars.
I mean, I know it seems ridiculous, but did you know each other back in Australia?
No, well, I mean, Australia is dark right now because, I mean, it's a very small country and we're both here.
Yeah.
But have you ever worked together? No.
No, I wish.
Oh, yes. I wish too.
I wish. I, I, no, genuinely, I first saw Kate long before we met.
We've met since events and things like that.
But you did a speech at the Acme Centre in Melbourne when I was working on a TV show Neighbours.
I thought you were in a pram.
My mother brought me.
Before I learned to speak.
And you've always been my, my idol, my acting idol.
So I saw you do this speech and I went and I was like, you were probably like 15 metres away.
But I remember thinking, I was just in awe and I was like, this is probably the closest I'll ever get to Kate Blanchett.
Kate Blanchett.
