I've been hearing about Captain Ahab for quite a while and was so stoked to finish out the Moab trip with this loop. Riding with Alexander from The Singletrack Sampler and our host and guide Randall.

Remember the cardinal rule. Whenever there's people standing around, good chance you could eat some shit.
Alright, we're getting our final ride on this Moab trip started today.
Started at the Amasa Back parking lot. We're going to climb up Haimasa and go down Captain Ahab.
Got Randall and Alexander with me today. Seth has been down for the count.
Our two hard days of riding took it out of him. Took a little crash in the dirt jump park, so he's back at home.
There's a pretty funny open air toilet in the parking lot. No water, bring your supplies.
We've had a few casualties on this trip. Seth took the bomb on the dirt jump park on his knee.
Alexander's back wheel got taco'd, so he's riding Seth's bike today. A little small for him.
We're going to make it work. Randall might have broken a rib. That's what you get. You come out and you play. Have fun.
I've taken a couple little spills. So far, so good.
I know you guys are constantly asking, how's the bike feeling? How's the suspension? How are the grips?
Everything's great, man. DVO suspension has held up really nice. Just had a great time riding my bike.
These night carbon wheels, super light, super fast. I'm digging them.
These fat paw grips have been really good. I cannot endorse these highly enough.
With a caveat, my hands have felt so good. My blisters, calluses, and stuff are going away after riding so much.
They're very fragile. They've gotten torn up immediately.
I'm also back to the right. We're going for high masa. There it is on the left.
The raindrops are falling. I jacked my PSI up to 30 instead of 25.
We were talking to a guy at the bike shop yesterday. Seems like that's a good idea.
Puff of smoke. It just rained and this is already all drained out.
Oh, so jeeps come up this? Wow. That was hurtful.
Alright, we'll come to the split here. That's where we'll come back down.
High masa is where we're climbing.
What a cool landscape.
There's a faint blue stripe guiding our way here.
Did you bang your knee yet?
Back when I was first getting into mountain biking, I got my first full suspension.
Constant knee cracks on the headset. Just awful.
It hit my pelvis. Part of the reason I ride a large bike instead of a medium.
Oh yeah. Let's get it started.
Pain and pleasure. High masa some more.
I need to remember to buy some brake pads when I get home.
Heading back out to Spain after I'm home for a few days.
The trip of my dreams. Cannot wait.
Stay tuned for those videos.
Let's get this.
Yeah. Up for Captain Ahab.
You going for it?
Send it!
Hefty climb now.
As always, I'll have a trail guide in the description.
If you guys want to see how long it took us, get a GPX file.
All that good stuff.
I like this climb.
It's just cool technical stuff.
This trail is a work of art.
That's a little tricky spot.
Going back up.
Nice!
Solid.
I would go right here.
Did you get it?
Yeah, I went in the middle.
Some good drops out here.
You got to bring your A-game and your A-equipment.
Break a crappy bike in half out here.
Break a good bike in half out here.
Yeah.
Nice.
Rolling slow and tight on that one.
Steep mofo.
Woo!
Those are the kind of drops that would have scared me three months ago.
Now I've got faith in my bike and faith in my skills.
Lean on me.
To lean on.
That was sketch.
Alexander is going so close to those rocks.
With that rear derailleur.
Hey, so if you've made it this far, hit subscribe.
Stick around.
Watch some old videos.
This is what I do.
Go out and ride the best trails in the world.
Take you guys along with me.
Sometimes I get to ride with some awesome riders like Alexander and Randall.
That's how we do.
So you have to always be realistic about your abilities and what you're capable of.
But this kind of ride would be more of a quick ride for me, I would say.
A quick ride can be just as sweet as an epic.
Alright, let's finish this thing out.
So glad I didn't get any mechanicals.
So glad I made it through.
Now it's on to Spain.
Thanks for watching, you guys.
I'll see you on the trail.
Anybody at Toyota wants to hook me up with TRD Pro, this is my dream car right here.
The one-up USA rack on it.
Oh, baby.
