It's been about two years in the gestation of this garden and it's been a rather wonderful
journey for us all with our designer Tom Stewart-Smith and his team and the team at Crocus.
Throughout the week of the show we had wonderful engagement with the Chelsea Flower Show audience,
all 168,000 of them. Not even the rain on two days could dampen their enthusiasm
or indeed the enthusiasm of our volunteers. I'm very proud to have a plant in the garden,
much admired in my garden and obviously will be here as well. We are so delighted to be part of
the National Garden Scheme, such a privilege, such an honour to be volunteers for this such
a worthwhile charity. We are just beyond, beyond words and so, so proud, so, so proud.
All of us at the National Garden Scheme, we feel really privileged and fortunate to have been
given this opportunity to have a really wonderful, unique showpiece. It's a wonderful opportunity
for our charity. Perhaps the greatest bonus was the fabulous coverage and enormous reach which
we were given by BBC Television. Day after day the BBC presenters really spoilt us with the
things that they said about our garden and it clearly resonated with their audiences.
We also had huge wider media coverage on other TV, radio, newspaper, online.
Those audiences all learned a lot more about not only our garden but what the National Garden
Scheme does as a charity. Being part of the National Garden Scheme, it really feels like
we've been appreciated and valued. I'm absolutely delighted to be celebrating yet again the wonderful
work the National Garden Scheme does and relationship with Marie Curie and all the great work
the National Garden Scheme supports enable, huge thanks to them. We're incredibly grateful at
Horatio's Garden and to the National Garden Scheme, you're our single largest donor. Thank you very much
indeed to everybody at the National Garden Scheme, we really do appreciate the support you give
Carers Trust. The National Garden Scheme have been so kind and generous and all your garden
openers to Maggie's, you've helped us with so many of our gardens and Maggie centres. This is such
an amazing opportunity for us to have this for our cancer patients in our community within Cambridge
so it's been a wonderful partnership and to see this as sort of the ultimate outcome of that work
is absolutely amazing. I'm very very happy for everybody who's been involved in the garden,
I think it's wonderful the National Garden Scheme, I think it's wonderful for all the Crocus team who
put this all together, such a collaborative event. So for me it's a huge thank you to everybody
who's made this garden possible.
