What's up beautiful people, welcome back to my channel. I want to wish all of you a happy new
year and I hope you're all doing well. So I haven't made a video in such a long time, so to all of my
lovely new subscribers, thank you for subscribing and welcome, welcome, welcome. I hope you're going
to enjoy what you see this year. Now we are in the middle of winter, well not quite the middle
because we're quite late making this video, however we're still in the peak season for
So today I want to show you three lovely recipes that you can use to help ward off cold and flus
or if you do get ill, hopefully it can nourish you and help you to get better quicker. I'm a
lover of all herbs from around the world, I love exotic herbs, herbs that you can't always easily
get or find in the store, however what's special about today's remedies is that you probably have
all of the ingredients in your kitchen already, so let's get to it. So the first recipe is
This is such a simple recipe, very easy to make and you only need three ingredients,
honey, onion and garlic. So what you want to do first is chop your onion into fairly small pieces,
it doesn't really matter how they're cut because it's all going to go in a pot anyway.
Then you want to peel and chop your garlic, there's no right amount of garlic here,
the stronger the better but don't go overboard if you're not a massive fan of garlic.
Then you want to put all of this in a small pot and top it all off with honey.
So next you're just going to put this on the stove but you want to put it on the lowest
setting possible, the reason being is that you don't want to destroy all the wonderful
properties of the honey. So I would say leave this on for about an hour or so,
what you really want to see though is the lovely juices drawn out from the onions and the garlic
and making the consistency of the honey very runny and then finally just give it a taste and
if it tastes strongly of onions and garlic then it's ready. All you need to do now is leave it
aside and let it cool, once it's all cooled strain it through a sieve and decant it into a
clean glass jar and store it in the fridge. Now you can take a teaspoon of this twice a day and
if you do get ill just take it every hour or so. So the next recipe is thyme and elderberry infusion.
Now elderberries are my go-to every year, like most berries they're rich in antioxidants and
have strong antiviral properties so they're great for colds and flu. Thyme is also my favourite
because it helps to relieve coughing, it's antiseptic and it's a great expectorant meaning
that it helps to loosen up and expel all of that mucus from your airways. So you start by bringing
a handful of dried elderberries to the boil and then let it simmer on a low heat for about 20 to
30 minutes. This is called a decoction and it's great when you're preparing hard plant material
like roots, barks and dried berries. Once that's done take it off the heat, mix in your thyme and
then cover it and let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes. So I just like to let this pot sit on the
stove and drink from it throughout the day, simple as that. So this third and final recipe is a cough
and cold smoothie. It doesn't taste very nice but I promise you every time I feel like I'm beginning
to get a cold, taking this really just helps to stop it in its tracks. So the ingredients are all
listed here. I like to keep the pith of the citrus fruit on, so that's the white part on the inside
of the skin. This has so many nutrients and so many things that you can benefit from. Then I
just blend it all up, make it into a smoothie and drink it as it is. Trust me, it works.
