あらー!
ハロー!
こんばんは!
よろしくおねがいします!
You're so cute!
My name is Nicholas.
I'm 29 years old,
an American-based anime YouTuber.
Oh, you're a YouTuber?
Like you. You're better.
You're better!
So it's not your first time being in Japan?
Second time.
I'm Liv.
I'm Nicholas' fiancee.
Soon to be wife.
And we got engaged here.
I proposed to her in Tokyo.
Did you cry?
Yes.
How long have you been in Japan so far?
We got here on October 1st.
So you're going to stay in Japan for one month?
Yes.
We'd like to stay for a whole lifetime.
Yeah, you must love Japan so much.
Definitely.
Also enjoy Japanese food?
Yes.
It's our favorite.
Favorite.
Today I'm going to try Japanese food
that you never tried before.
Yay! I'm so excited!
This is the restaurant we're going today.
The food here is amazing.
So you have to take off shoes.
And you can go inside.
It's amazing.
We got our private room.
Wow.
This is special.
It's so cute.
I love sitting in this area.
It's very private.
Very nice.
I love how private it is.
Why do you feel like drinking?
Whenever we go out to dinner,
we love to get lemon sour.
Lemon sour is all night.
Should we get lemon sour to start?
Sounds perfect.
We also have plum wine, peach wine,
and roughly grated peach alcohol.
I'll try the wine.
Okay, let's get peach and plum wine.
It's roughly grated plum wine.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Nice to meet you.
Cheers!
Oh my.
Wow.
I like that.
Wow.
Love it.
I don't want to drink it too fast.
Try this one.
Okay.
That one's amazing.
Love this one,
but that one just hits different.
I like them both.
This one has little bits of peach in it.
I like that about this one,
but I like the flavor of this one.
It checks my boxes for a drink.
It's perfect.
We're trying this one.
It's welcome food.
Wow.
This is pumpkin soup.
I've never had it in a soup.
Itadakimasu.
Oh yeah.
Love it.
Really good.
Wow, that's really good.
The soup has lots of umami inside.
Really amazing.
It's really good.
I love it so much.
I finished it.
Oh, you did?
So last year in April,
it was your first time coming to Japan.
Yes.
What did you think about being in Japan for the very first time?
Ultra shocked.
One thing about New York that I miss from being a kid
is kindness and innocence.
So when I came to Japan,
it was like everyone was nice.
I thought I'd be looked at different
because of my tattoos and everything,
especially a neck tattoo,
but no one ever treated me wrong.
Everyone was so nice and welcoming.
I like being on the train here.
Even when it's packed,
people are so organized.
It feels nice.
It's a nice feeling to be around good people
and just kindness, respectful.
Japan is very meaningful to me.
Life is easier here.
I can go out by myself and I'm going to be okay.
It's really nice to be able to feel free to explore a country
without having to worry about your safety and stuff.
It's not just respect from person to person,
but they respect nature.
They respect everything.
I love that.
It's little things,
and I like that Japan focuses on those little things.
I agree.
A little thing like going on the train,
and they wear their backpack to the front,
so no one bumps into the back.
I love little things like that.
It's so respectful.
Everything is very thoughtful
and everything is very cared for,
so I'm just like,
it's just so relaxing to be here.
I don't have to worry about anything.
Here you go.
Thank you.
Here we go.
Great.
Oh, look at this, guys.
Let's see.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
So kind.
That's Japanese culture.
Everyone's so respectful and kind,
and I love that.
It's so refreshing.
All the food here is so good
because it's all the natural flavors.
It's just the ingredients,
and it's not all of this extra stuff.
In New York,
no matter what I eat,
I feel like I gain weight.
But I'm here,
I can eat everything,
and I lose weight.
Let's eat this.
Japanese pomegranate.
We got two different parts of tuna.
That part of tuna,
and this is chu-toro.
Do you like wasabi or not so much?
Not really.
I know you love that.
I really like that.
Wow.
It's like thicker than I'm used to,
but because it's so soft,
it's not a problem.
It's so good.
Really good.
So now I'm just going to enjoy chu-toro.
I'm so excited
because usually I get o-toro.
Like online,
I guess people say it's the best,
so if this is your favorite,
I'm very excited to try.
This is for sure my favorite.
I love it.
Wow.
Really good?
I understand now.
I can't tell by looking at it.
Oh, nice.
Oh, my gosh.
Can you see the amount of fat
inside of the meat?
Love that.
Yeah, and it's slightly grilled.
So please enjoy it.
Here you go.
Thank you.
Oh, wow.
Really tasty.
For me, the salt
actually adds that extra flavor to it.
Really good, right?
You feel the crunch at the end?
Really good.
This is going to be a new favorite.
Oh, really?
I really love this.
This is really good.
I'm surprised
that I haven't had it
with just salt on top.
Really good.
Wow.
I was not a fish person.
Wow.
This is...
I would never imagine
I'd like this,
but it's great.
I might start coming here every week.
I really love this.
If I have had yellowtail before,
it was not like that.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
So let's keep on trying
the Japanese food.
Have you ever heard of oden?
You've never had oden before?
There's beef on top.
This one is Japanese radish.
Okay.
Oden for the very first time.
Here you go.
Wow.
I'm loving everything.
This is great.
The radish is like so soft
that literally it just like
broke apart.
Well, I don't think I've ever had radish.
I think I never had radish
because I didn't like the word.
Let's see.
It's really delicious.
Well, I guess I like radish now.
Wow.
Oh, yeah.
The meat is also...
It's like fatty but tender.
It's nice and warm.
Very soothing.
Good.
I love this.
I feel bad for judging it
for having the name radish.
I want to order this all the time.
I imagine it'd be a winter.
It'd be a really cold day.
You have your gloves on and everything.
And you're eating this.
It would be perfect.
It's delicious.
I love this.
It's delicious.
Is it rude to drink the soup?
Yes, please do.
It's not rude at all.
It's so good.
Let's try this one.
That looks beautiful.
It almost looks like a dessert.
You see something on the inside.
You already know that.
We had it, but not like this.
We had it as sushi.
Tamago, yeah?
It's dashimaki tamago in Japanese.
It's like a Japanese omelette.
And an egg in the middle.
We put lots of broth inside of the omelette.
So the omelette is so juicy when you bite into it.
It's not dry at all.
I love omelettes.
Wow, look at that.
Look at that.
We've never had an omelette here.
Do you like it?
I love eggs.
This is next level.
This is a high quality egg omelette.
Really?
I love it.
I'm gonna have to tell my dad to put some of this chicken broth in his omelette next time.
It's easy to eat.
It goes down so well.
And you taste all the flavors that are in it.
It's so smooth.
You are a YouTuber, right?
It's back home in the U.S.
I've been reacting to anime for about two years now.
It's been two years?
I've loved Japanese culture my whole life.
I loved gaming.
I loved just the culture in general.
It seems so peaceful and beautiful.
Anime, it's become my life.
I have it tattooed on me.
It's the key from Attack on Titan.
It's become my life.
That's good.
So Attack on Titan is your favorite anime?
No, number one.
Really?
Attack on Titan.
Best friends.
You try this one.
Have you seen this?
No.
Never?
This is Japanese autumn food.
We call this ginkgo nut.
OK.
Have you ever seen ginkgo tree from Japan?
Yeah.
Yeah, this is a nut from the tree.
I didn't even know that the tree had nuts.
I've never seen it.
And then how we eat is like we eat pistachio.
Remove the shell and eat.
It's got bouncy chewiness to it.
Kinda like mochi.
Yeah, it's like squishy, right?
I was not expecting that.
It's not crunchy or anything.
It's unexpected.
I feel like I could just eat these.
I like it more than popcorn.
Wow.
I could get addicted to these.
Whenever we go to a restaurant now,
I'm just gonna look for these things.
This might be my favorite thing.
Really?
And it goes with Japanese rice wine.
Have you ever tried Nihonshu?
No.
Never?
Now we have three different types of rice wine.
And then see which one you like the most.
Like fresh, fruity and dry.
That's nice.
That one's good.
That one?
Which one I like more?
I love this one more.
That one's my favorite.
Let's see.
My favorite.
I like that one.
You like that one?
Yeah.
Loving everything so far.
You're loving everything so far.
I think these four are our favorites so far.
It's like when you drink it and you have it in your mouth,
it's one flavor.
But then when you swallow,
it becomes like a different flavor.
Really interesting.
And these three are so good.
Wow.
You know, this is Kuroge Wagyu.
Wow.
And then we're gonna eat it with salt.
Always.
I keep saying it, but I think this is my favorite.
This is my dream.
Yeah.
It's so fatty.
It melts in your mouth.
Yeah.
The flavors, it's literally like exploding in your mouth.
It's so easy to chew and just to take down.
Wow.
I want a whole thing.
I feel very taken care of.
This is very, very, very good.
Excellent.
Yeah.
This is very special.
This is exactly how I like it.
I'll give up at this.
Here, steak is so juicy and tender.
And it has the perfect amount of marbling of fat.
That shows how much you enjoy the Wagyu beef.
The empty plate.
I feel so honored to be a part of this experience.
So thank you.
We're very honored.
I love how artistic she is,
how thoughtful she is, how kind she is.
The kindest person I've ever met.
She's my best friend.
And I've never been so comfortable with someone.
You guys are so cute.
He was confident, but not narcissistic.
He was also humble.
And I loved his sense of humor.
He doesn't take life for granted.
And I love how creative he is, too.
And he's very emotionally intelligent.
I don't know how it is here, but in the U.S.,
men are really looked down upon if they're emotional.
Men are supposed to be strong and composed.
And he is that.
But he can also be honest with how he feels.
And I really love that.
He's also very nice to my parents.
That's really important to me.
Because family is very important to me.
OK, so next one.
What is it?
It's for sure something that you've never tried before as well.
I know I've never had it.
I don't know what it is at all.
It's rubbish.
OK.
It's definitely rubbish.
Also, it's smoked and dried.
So pickled, smoked, dried.
Oh, my God.
I'm in love.
Wow, I never thought those flavors would go together.
It's so unique.
I've never had anything like it.
Oh, wow.
I don't know cheese.
I see.
I only have one, because...
You don't have to tell me.
You're going to try this one.
Oh, yeah.
Pork?
It's a traditional Japanese pork dish.
We say kakuni.
Oh, my God.
So good.
The pork.
Wow.
Can you see it?
Did you see that?
That's crazy.
So you can just cut through with the chopsticks.
That's awesome.
The skin.
You've saved the best for last.
Oh, my God.
Oh, wow.
Again, it melts in your mouth.
It melts in your mouth, yeah.
It is very tender.
Very tender.
It's oily, but not in a bad way.
It's the perfect amount.
I could eat this every day.
This and the cheese one.
You want to eat it every day?
Oh, yeah.
Back to back.
I like this with the oden.
I love everything.
Especially these last two things.
I'm obsessed.
I came into this knowing you'd show us good food, but not this good.
We got a little gift from the restaurant.
It's so cute.
Look at that.
We have miso soup with Fuji mountain shape.
So you just pour hot water on top of it.
Then you can make miso soup.
Really?
This one is cute, too.
You put this on top of rice.
Then you pour hot water again.
Then you can make rice with soup.
This one is like a cookie.
That one is like a pancake with sweet red beans in the middle.
OK.
That's awesome.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your time today.
Please come back to Japan again.
Good night.
