We're officially homeowners. Got the keys!
Hello everyone. Welcome to the second part of our house moving journey.
After we moved out of our flat, we had to stay with my parents
for two weeks, as the purchase of the house took a bit longer than anticipated.
So yeah, we've just completed on our house.
We're officially homeowners. So after about four months
of worrying about whether we'd be able to get a mortgage
and everything, and whether it would go through
or something else would have happened, we've actually got it.
It's ours. It's ours. It's our precious house.
Oh my god, I can't wait.
So yeah, we're hopefully moving tomorrow. All being well, we need to book the van,
get our stuff out of storage, and then move all our things to our new place.
Coming fast on the journey.
Moving into our own lovely
cupboard-hole house.
Got the keys!
Just before heading off to the house, we quickly popped into a charity shop
to see if they have any furniture we need for the house.
We are here, and we are ready
It's an absolute mangle of keys
Yeah, you're not coming in here!
Let's just...
Not that key. I reckon it's probably one of these bigger ones.
The tall one is the top.
Oh my god, I wanted you to film me!
Oh my god, it's so much smaller than I remember.
Hello Mr. Cat.
Oh, I've got that kind of a safety.
I'm assuming it's all the electrics?
No, it's just the...
The immersion heater?
That's the electricity
meter. I'm just looking to see where the phone cable is
where we plug the internet box in.
That doesn't look good.
At this point, I didn't realise that the sound wasn't coming through at all,
so some of the footage and commentaries on the day didn't make it into this video.
Nevertheless, you can clearly see how excited we were.
Okay, so I was trying to open this... well, I did open this
cupboard under the stairs on the ground floor.
I haven't looked at it since
we were looking at the house. I know there is some sort of
tiny storage in the house.
There's loads of cobwebs here.
Time for liquids.
So, here's the lantern.
I'll give it a wipe and see what's inside.
If we can't install that instead of the new one
in front of the house. What's that?
Oh, it's just some panelings.
That's interesting.
I think that's leftover wood from
floor panels, isn't it? Because it fits.
I don't know. We'll have to keep that for later.
There's a massive extension over there.
That's a useful bit of storage.
And it's got a lantern.
So, it's now about 7.30 in the evening.
And we're still waiting for the van to arrive
because we haven't got anything apart from one suitcase with clothes.
And we haven't got a bed. That's
probably the most pressing thing we actually need tonight.
And Kettle and Max do have a
cup of tea, but we haven't got a bed.
If it doesn't turn up, it's on its way.
So, it should turn up any minute now.
I really hope it's going to turn up.
I'm pretty worried that it's going to turn up to a different address because Google Maps doesn't recognise
our address. It recognises all the neighbours
but not our direct address.
Which we gave to the van people.
So, hopefully that won't be a problem and they're going to turn up here.
Nor somewhere else.
But anyway, we'll see. After another hour of waiting, the van did arrive in the end.
With no street light inside, we had to unload it in complete
darkness. To make things even worse, at this point
we realised that my beautiful antique wardrobe couldn't fit in the narrow staircase.
Which was a big disappointment to me.
And yet another surprise, our bed base, which was
comprised of two small boxes, couldn't fit upstairs as well.
So, it's half nine
in the evening right now. We unloaded the van.
A bit of a disaster. Oh gosh.
Anyways, we sorted this out.
Actually, it's not that much. That's most of the things.
That wardrobe, which is a lovely wardrobe and
it's the same colour as Bim's so he can go see what's in his house.
But unfortunately we couldn't fit it upstairs
into the bedroom and even more so into the
studio all the way upstairs. So, I don't know what to do
with it. I haven't even got any energy
to think what I'm going to do with that old wardrobe.
Maybe I'll keep it downstairs or take it apart and
fit it upstairs or get rid of it.
Anyways, another big disaster
thing. We couldn't actually fit our bed base
in the bedroom.
This is our bed base, which I was thinking
of getting rid of anyway and
buy a nice wooden
bed. But this was supposed to keep us
going, at least for the first month.
But it's not going to keep us going at all because it doesn't fit upstairs
in these narrow stairs. It just wouldn't fit.
So, yeah.
First purchase, bed.
So, we're just going to do the bed
mattress, put the bedding on,
have a shower and go to sleep and tomorrow is
going to be a big sorting day and desperately
looking to buy a bed
which I wanted a really nice bed. I wanted to take my time
use this one, take my time and choose
a really lovely one which I'm absolutely in love with
but unfortunately we're going to have to do it quite quickly
because sleeping on the mattress is not very
pleasant in the list.
Goodnight everyone and we'll see you tomorrow.
