mgk Is Team Gwen's Superstar Playoff Advisor | The Voice | NBC

Hey, what's up? Look who's here. I am so excited. I have MGK helping me. He's just one of those artists that has bounced around in genres. He's bold. He's so successful. He's doing arenas. He's doing stadiums. He's a producer. Writes his own music. There's just a lot for them to gain by having MGK here. I've been so eager to work with Gwen. A dream collab. Dream Chasing is so cool. First check I ever got was $45 for winning first place. Compete against 20 other talents for Showtime at the Apollo when I was 19. If they don't walk away with a win, they still walk away with knowledge, which is also a win. Here we are. We're at The Voice. Thank you for having me. This is where it gets crazy. We can only take two people to the live shows, and this is just going to be so hard. And MGK? What up, dude? Are you serious? Wait, stop it. Yes! Oh, my God. Great to meet you. Hi. MGK's here to help us. Hi, so nice to meet you. Great to meet you, too. What's up? What up, dude? This is crazy. Yeah, MGK. He has such good advice, amazing point of view. For me, it's more body language than anything else. I would have sat on the floor and just sang it like this, because that would have really made people be like, what's going on in his head right now? Lyrically, it's a lot of words. When you have any moment when there is no lyrics, though, because there's so many words, step away from the mic and play your guitar. It's all about the feel. You have a wife and kids. They bring the color to your life, so it's all feel. I love that. That's good. That's good, yeah. Just bringing so much to my team today. I'm so grateful. Thank you for coming. Thank you so much for the invite. It was awesome. I actually quit my job to do this. I worked at Olive Garden. My girl. Yes, I know the menu front and back. And it's really cool, because I used to work at Fast Food a lot. It makes me root for you even more. You've got to get lost, like drown in it. Be consumed by this. This is life or death. Do you know what I mean? You quit your job. This is life or death. Absolutely, yeah. Obviously, I think no one's ever done learning, so at the same time, I'm getting stuff from them where I'm like, oh, that was a really interesting choice, whether it's musically or just even in body language and stuff. So it's an honor to sit next to Gwen and watch her give advice. The one thing I love from the last performance you did and what I'm seeing now, the swag is great, right? Oh, thank you. Style is so clearly important to you. So don't be scared to bring the swag. We love Gwen. It's beyond the song. It's image. There's so many stages of Gwen. Create your own version of what that is. That's an icon right there. For sure. What? I'm so very honored, man. And we get to sit around music all day. Yeah. This is so cool. We're so lucky to be here. Yes. When you do song right, too. By the way, this is one thing Lionel Richie told me that I really like. Keep your ears open to everyday conversation. God, why didn't I think of that? Take whatever your friends say and use it. For sure. I have so much anxiety for your decisions because everyone's so good. I know. It's so wild. And each one has come in and they're all so different and so talented in their own way. It's going to be an impossible decision. I told him that I'm going to blame him for everyone that I send home. Yep. And I'll be at home away from all the drama. So it works.
