They're off, over two miles and three this time
for the Goffs Supporting Breeders Day
Mayor's Novices Hurdle.
They crossed nine flights.
Cave Hope, Definite Dream,
with Really Delightful between them,
formed the leading trio.
Honky Tonk Highway is close,
about wide, and the fall at the first was Really Delightful.
Really Delightful has come down
at the first flight of hurdles.
Horse is up and galloping away,
yet to see Lucy Turner rise.
So Cave Hope will lead Definite Dream
on the turn back towards flights two and three
with Honky Tonk Highway close up in third
and then Eileen's Orders and Hit for 60 and That's Nice,
who settles in the leading half dozen.
Arctic Stream up the inside is next,
then Hill of Scariff and Shakira
and Molly Mason racing in advance of Ironed Out
as Cave Hope leads them over the second
with Definite Dream for company.
Honky Tonk Highway close up out wide,
then follows Eileen's Orders and That's Nice
as they clear flight number three.
Hit for 60 is next,
some indifferent jumping in behind Ironed Out.
Responsible for it has dropped back last of all
and they're well strung out
as they race past the judge a circuit in front of them.
Cave Hope and Definite Dream are upsides
with Honky Tonk Highway a length back.
That's Nice has gone past Eileen's Orders
and Hit for 60 into fourth place.
There's a break of five lengths then to Arctic Stream
who races at the head of the chasing group.
Hill of Scariff, Princess Kerry, Shakira,
Molly Mason, Briary B follow and then Ironed Out
and July Judy is right at the back of the field.
14 of them on their way to flight number four
with Definite Dream taking over from Cave Hope
as they come across it.
Shakira not especially fluent in the last half dozen
as they turn to go to the top of the hill.
Led by Definite Dream with Cave Hope a length down
in second, Honky Tonk Highway three lengths back in third,
then That's Nice in company with Eileen's Orders.
Hit for 60 in touch
and then a break of half a dozen lengths to Arctic Stream
as the leaders reach the top of the hill
and make their descent.
Led by Definite Dream from Cave Hope
and then a break to Honky Tonk Highway,
That's Nice, Eileen's Orders.
Hit for 60 Arctic Stream, Shakira, Molly Mason, Briary B
reading further back to Ironed Out
in front of Hill of Scariff and July Judy
and Princess Kerry is now last of all
as Definite Dream leads into the back straights.
With five to jump, Cave Hope in second,
Honky Tonk Highway third,
then That's Nice on the outside of Hit for 60
making an effort on the inner between them
and well in touch is Eileen's Orders
as they come to jump five from home.
And Definite Dream led over it from Honky Tonk Highway
on the outside of Cave Hope, That's Nice is next.
Then Eileen's Orders and hit for 60
and the front half doesn't race clear of Arctic Stream
who continues to lead the chasing group jumping four out.
Definite Dream, Cave Hope and Honky Tonk Highway
almost upsides with That's Nice breathing down their necks.
Eileen's Orders is now ridden along in fifth place
as the leading trio come to jump the third from home.
Definite Dream, the mistaken has gone.
Definite Dream a faller leaving Honky Tonk Highway
in front of That's Nice, Eileen's Orders and Cave Hope.
And that quartet have been left a long way clear
of Briary B.
Hit for 60 weaken rapidly halfway down the back straight
race is next to the leaders are on the approach
to the home straight with two to jump.
Honky Tonk Highway from That's Nice
who's breezed through the race
and is only a length behind turning in.
Eileen's Orders keeping on at the one pace
but under pressure and left behind by the front two.
Briary B is beginning to stay on quite eye-catchingly
as Cave Hope weakens quickly over two out.
Front pair clear separated by a length.
It's Honky Tonk Highway with That's Nice
switching to challenge on the inside.
Honky Tonk Highway more than a length in front
going over the final flight
not looking entirely straightforward in front.
That's Nice has ranged up alongside
halfway up the running and That's Nice
picks off Honky Tonk Highway in the closing stages to win
without coming off the bridle.
That's Nice much too good for Honky Tonk Highway.
Eileen's Orders well off them in third.
Briary B stayed on strongly to be fourth clear
of Arctic Stream and July Judy
and Cave Hope and Molly Mason.
Well done, Nicky.
You gave us a bit of a debrief about this before it
that, you know, you knew her mother
and she was a completely different size
and that's nice.
She's a big model.
She's pretty talented, isn't she?
She's beautiful, isn't she?
Yeah, she's absolutely gorgeous.
Yeah, I mean, as I say, Mum was quite small and grey
and this is the first time we did a lovely big walk in the park.
She's gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.
You must have been delighted
with the way she handled the preliminary.
She seemed professional and Nick had got on
and she really responded well to it.
What were your thoughts throughout the race?
Yeah, she just travelled really nicely and jumped.
I mean, I think we knew she'd jump.
I can't take any of the credit.
These JPs, four-year-olds now,
Derek O'Connor has them for point-to-pointing
and they have probably one run.
And I know that, you know, they had a good year last year
and this was in the bunch.
And as we had the mare,
the progeny has kindly come back to seven barrows,
which is very, very nice.
Yeah, she obviously started off early.
You know, she was winning a point-to-point of four.
So getting them educated so much earlier now,
which is such a help for you.
It's a great way of doing it.
I mean, you either go down the bumper route
or the point-to-point road.
And the JPs' policy at the moment is to do that with Derek,
who's brilliant at it.
It makes our life very easy when they come in,
knowing what these horses do
and they've been minded to, you know?
Yeah, and in terms of her future,
we see her winning pretty cosily over two mile three.
What do Nico say about her now, for here and now,
because she's obviously going to be for the future as well?
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's quite hard work ground,
but she's done a nice enough work.
He sat on her once very early on, he said, in the autumn,
and loved her then and schooled her a couple of times.
I say she knows her job well from Ireland,
not really from us, but she's just nice.
She's got, you know, there's a long way to go,
but I think there's maybe some nice days ahead of us.
Yeah, and as we know, your horses,
some of them have needed a run,
but it looks like a lot of them are seemingly
very fit off of the break now.
They're starting to come through it
where they're not leading it quite as much
as they were.
She'll come on for it, yes,
but I just like the way she went about it.
It was a perfect introduction.
Yeah, it looked like Nico didn't want to get to the front
actually too soon with her,
and had the lead being taken into her quite nicely,
and then she came back on the bridle again quite nicely.
Well, it was nice because the horse in front
was the form horse in the race,
so it was nice to see that she could track that
and quicken up.
I mean, I like the way she did quicken as well.
It was fairly instant.
You'd think the trip is about right.
Two and a half would probably be the area we're playing in.
And how many more of these J.P. McManus
through this sort of Derica kind of scheme
have we got to look forward to?
That's the one from this year.
We've got a couple of nice French fillies
that have come from France around there.
They're more coming out of the Epitant sort of road
from the AQPS bumpers,
and there's a couple of those that we like as well,
so hopefully we've got a fair bit to look forward to
in the fillies.
And they're all fillies to come through this division.
Brilliant, well done.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
