Whoa, shit!
What's up, guys? Finally!
I'm here again. That took forever.
I've been trying for the last six weeks odd.
Swear to God, the worst was the last two weeks.
Bag packed and so close to leaving.
And then life went...
No!
But now, finally, as we have just entered November,
the biggest thing on my mind is colder and the light.
The top of the list is the light, really.
In the city, it's going between four and five now.
I totally missed seven and six.
We'll see how it goes out here, but I'm gonna...
It's gonna be weird with the whole evening being so much more darker.
This time, it's just me and my brother, Mark, with his wannabe camping dog, Bee.
And after a very tiresome trek up, yes, another hill,
and then another hill, we found this area.
And Mark's just told me there's a spot over there.
So without further ado, Camp 22, here on Wannabe Camping.
Okay, we just hit half three.
And like I said about the light, God knows when it's gonna disappear.
So Mark said there's somewhere over there.
Let's grab our bags and get over there because we need to get set up.
Oh, man, me and Mark are just freaking delirious to be here.
We have needed this.
Needed it.
I bloody needed it. I was going mad.
You can only take so much of city life before you're just like...
Oh, yeah.
I know, but potential lies around everywhere.
Cool.
Oh, that was a fail.
I'm unbalanced.
Oh, Jesus.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
I nearly went ass over tit then.
Nice. I like it.
A slice of heaven for the night and morrow.
Yeah, like it.
Ooh, a little birdhouse.
I think I can see a little egg in it.
See if you can get a picture.
Let's see.
No, I can't.
Can't use the flash.
Me and Mark are well happy, though, because we've been worried about it being November and everything that's damp and that.
But there are signs of, like, dry trees around.
Dead ones we saw on the way in.
There's a massive one there, but it's on the other side of Barbed Wire, so it's a bit harder.
But there's another little one up there.
So we might be all right.
We've brought some, I've brought some dry kindling from the city.
And a, like a sawdust slow burn log.
It's like a hand scythe.
So that with hopefully some dry wood will let us create enough of a fire that we can dry out the rest of the wood we find.
But we don't know.
Because it's colder and less weight and thinking about building up the body heat in the tent.
We've just got Mark's three man with his little blackout room.
We're all going to bundle in there and have a cozy evening.
Where we're going to put the fire at the moment, I do not know.
It's looking like where Mark sat is just practically the flattest area.
I mean it's pretty good over there, but wherever we go we'll probably just plonk the fire right in front.
It's beautiful.
This is a milestone for us.
Because we've never done a camp in November.
Awesome.
Ticket off the list tomorrow morning.
In a minute we're going to get the tent set up and then gather some wood.
All that keeps going in my head is the light, the light, the light, the light, the light.
Sweet. How much?
Black.
Well it's twenty past four and look at that.
We are all cozy woo.
Me on the left.
Mark on the right.
Bee in the middle.
No gayness.
Nope. We're going to sandwich her.
Just finishing getting all the bits in.
Got some beards from the old man who passed by earlier.
For kindling.
Oh yeah.
Got some thin bits here.
Started collecting wood here just from up.
It's beautiful up there the higher you go the better the view gets.
But there's potential spots up there as well.
I've got a pile up there I've got to go get in a minute.
Alrighty.
Just the fire stuff out now.
So we've got the old man's beard like I said.
Got a big thick sort of slow burn log.
I've got some kindling from home.
And of course this stuff ain't that bad man.
Not that bad.
Let's go up and get that pile that I have already gathered.
So annoying.
The shoes have been letting the wet in.
Not that they're soaking anywhere but the little beads.
Damn they're supposed to be waterproof.
Annoying.
I don't give a damn what you're saying.
This is what I'm going to do.
I'm going to put this on now.
There we go.
I'll be right.
Alright.
Look at that look.
It's half five and now we're in the black.
So as soon as we're in the black.
We started getting lights going.
There's my little glow up light.
I've had for a while but not really used.
Nicely decorated by my little girl.
Oh yeah I've got a giant thingy there.
I've got a bulb on my camera stand.
Got my little lantern sat on a log down there.
Me and Mark with our head torches.
I've still got a spare torch so we're all good on that front.
So I've moved the wood over here.
And I've just dug a nice square.
I'm just going to remove the rest of this mud now.
And then we'll get started.
So what I'm going to do is soak this.
Positioned by a log.
I'm like a dog.
Alright let's see if this works.
Oh yeah.
Beautiful.
Now I feel like I should have just put this on top.
And then added those.
It's like I've stifled it but it still burns.
Jesus.
There's a rock there.
It's like a chair this thing actually.
Maybe I can just get my f*****g bit.
Where is my bag?
Can you retrieve it? It's all the way over there.
Retrieve it?
Huh?
Can you retrieve it?
Retrieve.
I think that was banging.
Yeah it worked well.
Oh what a lovely sound.
When you're sitting in the middle of the dark wood in November.
It's not actually that cold though is it?
I think it's only as low as it's supposed to be.
Yeah but you think it's not that cold because we brought the right stuff to wear.
And we put the right stuff on the floor to sit in that tent.
Yeah.
If you had nothing, you know your perception changes and it is bloody freezing out there.
Yeah.
Very elevated setting by this tent.
Yeah.
Now the fire's here like, it might as well feel like any other fishing camp we do.
I know.
Yeah.
Beautiful.
What's going on?
Huh?
Oh shit.
Oh god.
It is starting to rain and we expected zero.
It's very very light and it might stop but it don't want to get you panicking.
It's raining again seeing as we've just created a thing of utter beauty.
I mean that's a nice roaring November campfire.
I can't believe it's November and we're camping.
Freaking roaring.
I have layered up including some jogging bottoms under these wet waterproof trousers.
I'm going to cook if I stay near this thing.
The next position that wood marks is that, isn't it?
Right.
Yeah, you might have to move it back.
Yeah, it's very spitty.
I don't know if you can see it.
My light.
You can just tell with some little drippy bits that rain coming in.
Oh, alright.
I better go off and look for something in there.
I can't see it.
We haven't really come to a reaction.
It's stupid.
We even knew sometimes we were still waiting on a jacket.
That, my friends, is some good pork and caramelised sausage with...
What the hell did I say?
Caramelised sausage.
What a twat.
Kansas City style barbecue sauce.
Stirring good.
Tell you what.
You can keep hearing banging all the way in the distance over there.
It's got to be fireworks.
But there's always banging out here at night.
Ricky.
Oh, yeah.
Look at that.
Splendid.
And the time is ten past seven.
So early when it's looking so late.
Well, it's half seven, yeah.
And I was...
Let me adjust my light.
I was standing...
I don't know.
I was standing down there somewhere, yeah.
Just enjoying the evening.
And...
Can you see?
Yeah, you see the lights over there.
I saw a light over there.
Like a flipping headlight.
I thought it was a car on the road.
But it was moving around like it was a person.
And I just watched it as it headed towards this direction.
Now, we're at the top of a massive hill.
And there's, like, valley below in that, so...
Logic dictates, you know.
Don't be a knob.
No one said, no hurry, but...
Oops, sorry.
But, oh, my God.
Made me uneasy.
All the places we pick, why, when we see a headlight,
does it always look like it's coming over?
Ow, my eyes.
Ugh.
But, yeah, it's...
Like I said, it's half seven, and...
Bee's chilling out down there.
In the tent.
And we're trying to enjoy the evening without freaky lights ruining it.
Ready to clock now.
And since that light has...
Freaked me out a bit.
I haven't been asked...
I haven't felt the want to put the bloody lights back on.
But...
The fire's died down now, and...
We don't feel a real need to get it roaring again.
Plus, the rain has started.
And it's...
It's very light, but it's...
Definitely...
More there than it was earlier, when I mentioned it.
So, uh...
Yeah, we're gonna...
Start finishing up and getting everything inside there now.
Join Bee.
Start chilling out mode inside the tent for the rest of the night, because...
In the morning...
We have to be back at the car park by nine o'clock, so...
We just checked a minute ago, and sunrise is 7.20.
So it's gonna be a different kind of morning...
Than I'm used to here.
See how it goes.
See ya.
Next vid...
Inside.
That's in the way.
It's coming up to nine, and we're inside.
Cozy.
And, uh...
Freaky light out there, doing...
In the distance.
What the hell.
So, yeah.
Gonna start...
Getting relaxed, and, uh...
Yeah, God knows when we'll get tired in the distance.
Sleep now.
Well...
Two hours and forty minutes later.
Coming up to midnight, so...
We're off to sleep.
I'll see you guys...
In the morning.
Morning.
Waking up...
To...
It's like seven.
So, we have two hours.
We've got to be at the car park, but...
I woke up to...
Drips.
And I can't so much hear it now, but...
There's thumping bass beat.
Like someone...
Turned their car into a stereo.
Just...
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
What the hell.
But...
Not a bad night.
Toasty warm.
I woke up once, that was it.
But we're just hearing the drips now, on the tent.
And, uh...
I'm tired, I don't want to get up.
This is what's cool about...
This blackout room, that...
You can't tell...
But it's light outside.
We keep hearing the drips.
And...
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo.
What the hell.
I'm just...
Having a peruse.
Further down from our camp.
Just all slanting downwards.
Oh, wow.
There's another bloody...
This...
This whole area is...
Full of potential spots.
Look at that, look.
Probably looks...
Ever black to you.
It is a slight slant, but...
Ah, stunning.
Every time I see...
Ah, there's an up and over there, but...
I wonder how much dog walkers use it.
The main reason for...
Coming down here was...
Not only to see what it looks like...
But this...
It's this...
These woods here, we saw a flipping light.
And it would go across here, but it...
Obviously, last night, we couldn't tell that those trees were there.
But it was coming through there.
Clear as day.
Every so often, you could see it.
And one...
Ah, it's better to show you up there.
The one that freaked me out.
It looked like it was coming towards our camp.
Like, last night, I couldn't tell with all the trees.
That means it would have been higher.
And floating towards us.
Ah.
Out here, the light and the sound.
I do not understand.
That beat is still coming through strong, that direction.
I really...
I wonder how far away they are.
It's crazy.
It's beautiful.
It's a beautiful morning.
When you're waking up in the wild.
Yeah, this other light, though.
Came down from there.
To this tree.
I stood here.
And looked off towards there.
So I was watching the cars in the distance.
And the light was like here.
That high.
And it was straight coming this way.
And it kept getting lower and lower.
And I was losing sight of it.
So, I had to keep going higher.
Up here, here.
Then I was behind the tent.
And eventually, I was stood on this wall here.
Looking down on it, there.
Until it disappeared.
And then I was just frozen here.
Like, in silence with Mark.
Thinking, is it about to pop up somewhere?
Like, come in the water?
Totally.
It seems stupid now.
Stupid, but...
No matter where I pick to go out here.
Freaky red lights when I come this way.
Or at least, look like it.
We're enjoying the morning.
And we just suddenly looked at the time.
7.53am.
It's just stupid.
We didn't got the inside packed up.
I haven't packed away the fire.
Look, got the tree.
We're about to depart.
And apart from a bit of mud and that.
And the obvious square mark.
You can see a little bit.
You'll never know.
A beautiful Cap 32.
I have no idea why I said it like a vampire.
Well, guys.
Unfortunately, we've reached that time again.
Where I have to say, it's time to leave.
Beautiful.
The bottom wire has gone.
I was about to say, is that torn up?
Well, guys.
We've got ten minutes to get to the car.
We're about to get to the car now.
Trundle on down to it.
Oh, that took so long.
So long I waited.
But finally!
Cap 22's in the bag.
And of course, people.
You know what it means.
Got my outfit off again.
Do it for me.
I'll see you on 23.
Next time.
I'm going to be camping.
