Newcastle have a blueprint to go back to and they've gone back to it
successfully in two games three games actually counting a league cup tie which has put them in
the quarterfinals again they're still trying to win a trophy they haven't won a domestic trophy
but believe it or not 70 years 70 seasons ago 1954-5 they won the FA Cup and West Ham
try again to put some real shape to Lopetegui's philosophy. Van Buren picking up a fifth yellow
card in the last game at Forest, just a one match ban. Here's Livermanto giving Isak
something to chase here well when you're on a run like him you will shoot it might have been
another option. Strike that's in four more and you're never going to give up that opportunity
but Newcastle just breaking the lines really well and see Livermanto here he plays the ball
into a lovely pocket of space there and Isak should be good. Well there's no flag we'll wait to see if
he puts it in the net if there is he certainly put it in the net and there's the flag because
we've just seen him bend his run on this opposite side for an opportunity now he's gone and done it
in the the right back in the right side center half position there it's going to be very close
but I do think that this is going to be ruled out he just went a little bit too early.
Kilman's a danger it's over him but it's headed in with real power and it's a typical postcard
from the Czech Republic from Thomas Socek that's what he does and West Ham have scored from a
corner absolutely Newcastle have conceded from a corner. Incredible West Ham only one of three
teams yet to score from a corner this season and Newcastle one of five not to concede.
I'll tell you what a delivery this is into the area it's an out swinging corner and you just
see Socek he peels off his man just to give himself a little bit of a yard just see him here
he uses the blocker and then he just gives himself an opportunity Kelly doesn't keep an eye on where
he is and when you give that man Socek that amount of space for a free header it's inevitable
Newcastle have cost themselves there from the sloppy marking. Longstaff oh wait I thought
Isak saying you could have played me in then Mambasaka wasn't very good and the shot
it was a chance that maybe took a bit of surprise and he didn't hit the target. It's a good move
through the thirds of Newcastle there with Longstaff playing it wide there's a little bit
of uncertainty there for Mambasaka's defender and I can see what Willick's trying to do here
his first touch there he's opened up the angle just trying to find that bottom corner
well a chance to maybe reply in kind here to Newcastle it's a deep one and
Pavienski is a goalkeeper he usually likes to stay on his line
Antonio looking for the speed of Somerville again. Soler, Bakata, oh and Soler what a lovely move
from West Ham it's just like the finish but there was confidence and class in that attack
and just see Soler picking it up the little give and go the movement
Cher on the burst it's a real burst oh inches in it Lewis Hall thinks
there was a touch in there well almost right on cue I mean just look at the way
shapes his body he fakes inside takes another touch and then he's going for it I think he's
going for a shot here I don't think he's looking to cross that ball in for Isak and here's Longstaff
oh and it's a I was gonna say a gift for Gordon and for Willick now Hall wants to have a crack
with this run away from him and Bowen is there resisting for West Ham and doing a bit more than
that and he's gone on every season he seems to go on to a new level Terriba nicely played
but Socek wanted too much time in this sort of game you're not going to get that and Isak
I was just looking for the net to bulge but
unless there's no net there it hasn't bulged and the flag was up for offside anyway
Craig Coulson said Joe Linton played the ball and here's Barnes as a result of that decision
Gordon tried to manufacture a shot which he did and Fabiansi just stood rooted to the spot
and watched it go wide it goes on between Antonio and Kelly it doesn't reach him because Socek
now Bowen plenty forward for West Ham here and it's in well well well Aaron Wan-Bissaka
who once scored here for Manchester United has scored for West Ham United and West Ham lead 2-0
now they've had to see off plenty of early pressure in this second half and they bounce
forward and come up with a second goal of their own well what they have been Martin they've been
clinical when they've had it we've just seen opportunity from one end of the field and see
the long ball forward and what they do they win the seconds here Pakatan Ghimirayish wins it
sets them on the way and you'll just see Wan-Bissaka here coming alongside Jared Bones
he helps him on the inside run and nobody from Newcastle's midfield
in Joe Linton or Longstaff can get back and I've got to say Wan-Bissaka with the perfect finish in
the bottom corner and I said Newcastle hadn't been clinical with the chances West Ham certainly
have and he goes low and hard across the goalkeeper his his first goal for West Ham
here's Bowen hammers are on the hunt again Bowen a stinger that Pope kept this out
Bowen and Socek often comes on to shots like the one he had a moment or two ago this time had to
take it with his back to the goal but still got his shot off
yeah it is in his repertoire from that kind of angle can he actually test Fabianski
Tonali's pass is a very good one and Isak just a bit too high for him
that's the right man not quite the right place because River Mento just put a little bit extra
on the cross but would have been a real chance no one was picking him up had it been a bit lower
West Ham is dropping into a defensive block but Isak trying to get the better of them
and he's produced a corner even they've been in short supply for Newcastle recently
and uh well they've caught them out here and Hall
that's improvisation you can just see there Hall recognize it the pass came to him
I'm just looking at Harvey Barnes at the back post with his hands in the air
so five West Ham players completely switch off and I know what Hall's trying to do there
he's trying to bend it in the far corner Somerville in the middle Ings out to Sofell
back to Bowen on to Sofell cheekily Ings it's his sort of goal getting across the front of
his man at the near post but he didn't quite make the solid connection that he was looking for
and it duly does well we wait to see whether West Ham have turned the corner
they've certainly scored from a corner which they hadn't done all season at this point that gave
and the other question mark has been about the new signings and when they're going to
click into gear well you probably wouldn't put Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a goal scoring new signing
but certainly he's added in that respect today it's a happy ground for him
and today it's a happy ground for the Hammers they've beaten Newcastle by two goals to nil
