Today we're trying the most overrated food in London.
Now I'm over it.
I come under as a food blogger, food content creator,
whatever you want to say, but I keep seeing these reviews.
This is the best mac and cheese.
These are the best gyozas.
This is the best chocolate strawberries.
You're just lying to yourself.
I'm done with it.
I want the truth.
Also guys, I think I just stood in piss.
We're in Borough Market.
Let's kick this off.
By the way, I posted this on Instagram
and loads of you responded.
It's insane.
Look at this.
Look at that.
You getting that?
This is a sixth street actually, by the way.
The Clink, most notorious medieval prison.
Did you know that?
No.
But you do now.
Also, we're just walking past that place
we ain't even going to, overrated.
Just queues on queues on queues, isn't it?
Sorry.
Right, we're coming back for this.
We're coming back for the tacos.
Now we're going to start off with the mushroom risotto.
How many, sir?
One?
Just one, please.
Thank you, man.
Cheers.
Yo, they got this down to a T.
So this creator said the mushroom risotto
was the best thing of the day that she had, all right?
We'll see.
Also said you have to add the truffle oil.
This is £9.50, £2.50 to add the truffle oil.
So it's 12 quid.
It's quite good.
It's roasting hot.
They add the Parmesan on, freshly chopped chive.
Is it exotic?
I mean, it's a bit of cheese and a bit of chive on top
and it's a mushroom risotto.
Here we go.
It's all right.
Honestly, it's all right.
It's a good amount.
Is it the best risotto I've had?
No, it's not.
You know what it is?
It's this, this Parmesan cheese on top.
Is that like crumbled pre-grated stuff?
That it's like, you can tell.
There's loads of mushrooms in there.
I can't complain about that.
It is exotic, but it's a three out of five.
It's an all right risotto.
It's 12 quid.
If you're gonna get this, get it without the truffle oil
because I can't really taste that much of a difference.
Definitely not a £2.50 difference.
Ain't gonna change your life.
Let's get on with the next.
Is it right to get one of the pork carnitas, please?
Yeah, and then also the specials.
Out of the specials,
could I get one of each of them, please?
Appreciate it.
Thanks so much.
All right, we got it.
You don't know what I've done, huh?
I ordered one each of the specials for you.
Why?
Because I need your review.
You got four tacos?
Yeah.
Bro, that's too much.
Why?
I only asked for one, dog.
Well, I can't refund it now.
He's just shouted 216.
Bruv, we're at 669.
Better not have to wait 400 spots.
Brilliant, thank you.
So this creator said the pork carnita tasted amazing
and it only costed £4.
£4 to me is wild for a taco.
I'm just not convinced, but let's see.
Maybe it is amazing.
I will say it's pretty loaded.
Here we go.
It's actually pretty good.
I just find it mad paying £4 for a taco, bro.
Like I know we're in London
and people need to make a profit and this and that,
but £4 for a taco?
It's actually filled, to be fair.
I will say pork's a bit dry,
but you know, it's busy, it's churning out,
they're nonstop.
We got the three specials as well.
These are six quid each.
So they need to taste brilliant.
For the four tacos, we've spent 19 quid.
It's not bad by any means, but again, it's just overrated.
Like there's nothing else to really say.
I feel like I'm being a negative person.
I really don't mean to be.
I'm just being honest with you.
I've just tried one of the specials.
The hot sauce on the pork one was insane.
They're all more loaded and they have bigger tacos.
Again, you're paying six quid for one
and it just takes away from the enjoyment.
I know they're not part of the review,
but the specials are better.
If you're paying six quid for a fish taco,
you're out of your effing mind.
It is just overrated.
Look, they have this down to a T.
Just one please, ma'am.
Thank you, ma'am.
Every time I pay for these, £8.50, I can't believe it.
I mean, look how organized it is.
It's barely even a queue.
You're just walking through.
We love that shot.
Oh my God, we're so vibey.
Right, so this is what this guy said
about the chocolate strawberries.
Is he legit?
Is he telling the truth?
We'll see.
Is this vibes?
I mean, that isn't vibes.
The chocolate does harden, I will say.
The strawberries are chunky.
They just are, they are good.
They are good.
If you want fresh strawberries,
where else are you going to get?
Probably your local farm.
They're probably decent as well.
The one thing that's not decent is £8.50 for a little cup.
That is not decent at all.
I just do like them, though.
I think they're kind of fire.
Maybe they could add cream.
Maybe that would loosen it a bit more.
It is overrated.
The thing is, you can't come here,
try them and be like, they're not good.
They are good.
The thing that's not good is £8.50.
That's atrocious.
I might as well just give a tenner to someone
and be like, you mugged me.
We're literally paying £1.20 a strawberry, pretty much.
£1.20?
It makes the tacos seem like they're a deal.
Is it overrated?
Yes.
Is it good?
Yes.
Is it expensive?
Yes.
Let's go to the next one.
Guys, I just want to make sure everyone is perfectly clear.
I don't want this to seem like
I'm bashing the businesses, okay?
If they're overrated,
it doesn't mean they're not good, okay?
I mean, maybe some might not be good, but we'll see.
We are in Chinatown.
We have a few spots here.
Let's get onto the first one, which is Chinatown Bakery.
Right, so there's normally always a queue here,
but we're early, so we might be good.
We're getting the famous taiyaki.
Hi there.
A four, please.
Cheers.
Damn.
Thank you so much.
Cheers.
And next door is Chinatown Bakery.
Let's get the famous pandan.
I believe that's it.
Is it?
Bit of a queue, but it's running quick.
So that's a little fishy.
We got this like probably five minutes ago
and it's still roasting hot.
Here we go.
Oh, do it again.
Huh?
Do it again.
How can I do it again?
These creators are raving about these.
Are they any good?
Oh my God.
Okay, they are hot.
Are they any good?
The dough's all right.
It's a bit dense.
It is fluffy somehow,
but this custard in the middle is extremely hot.
It's like lava.
Two pound 50 for four?
That's a bit wild, isn't it?
It looks good.
For something that size and you get four of them.
They're not overly sweet either.
They're actually all right.
Is it overrated?
Are we going to give it overrated?
Look at the size of it.
Oh.
Two pound 50 for four.
Yeah, I think it lives up to the hype.
Okay.
We're actually going to let this one slide.
For four of them, two pound 50.
We're not disappointed.
It's not overly sweet.
It's a bit hot.
They're freshly made.
There wasn't a queue.
Now there is.
It's just like one of them.
Yeah, it's all right.
So everyone's always going on about,
you need to get the pandan cake if you're in Chinatown.
Oh my God.
We came to Chinatown and we tried the famous pandan cake.
Everyone's always coming to get this.
It's all people say, come and get.
And if you don't believe me,
look at all these creators do it.
Like everyone comes here for this.
I've never had this before.
Also, I don't know why,
but it being in a like bag like this,
it doesn't make it feel like it's fresh.
Tell you what, this thing is,
you know what I'm saying?
Oh, it's really coconutty.
Really coconutty.
You know what?
I don't actually hate it.
Value wise, two pound.
I think this is better than the fishies.
I've already eaten half the thing without even realizing.
I'm going to be honest with you.
I kind of came here with the expectation
I was going to say this was overrated,
but for two pound, the queue was efficient.
I think we're going to give Chinatown bakery.
It's worth the hype.
Hi there, how you doing, ma'am?
Oh, could I get the crispy chicken, please?
The pieces.
Damn, got loads of seasons.
Right.
So this is the Taiwanese fried chicken.
I'm not going to lie, it took a while to get.
10, 15 minutes.
So let me just talk for a minute
because this guy gave this place a 9.5 out of 10.
That is so high.
He said the seasoning was great.
I got the most popular.
I got the chili and the garlic.
If you're allergic to something, by the way,
definitely don't go here
because they fry a massive batch of chicken
and then like in the whole container
was just pouring chili over like a certain bit.
And I was like, if I'm allergic to chili or something else
and someone else is maybe going to get like a chili piece.
I don't know.
I'm not sure about that.
It doesn't seem like the most hygienic place.
However, let's give it a go.
Wow.
It is really good.
Oh, it's not.
It is really good.
No, it's not.
Mm, 9.5 is a push.
Let me just get another second there.
Damn, it is quite nice.
The coating, by the way, it is literally popped.
They must use like a potato cornstarch vibe on it.
Very different.
I think they must be using chicken thigh as well.
Weirdly, it's not the most juiciest, moistest chicken.
A bit on the drier side.
7 pound 50.
It's gone up 50p since my boy went.
7 pound 50.
It's a good chunk.
You get the choice of whatever seasoning.
They had a load of seasoning in there, by the way.
Cheese, cumin seasoning, seaweed seasoning.
Everything you could think of.
It is great seasoning.
For the amount of time we waited and the price,
I am going to give it overrated.
Even though it's good, it's overrated.
It's good.
It's not a 9.5, but you're kind of like, ooh, quite tasty.
I want a bit more.
Okay, that's it.
No more.
You've got to eat more.
No more.
How is it overrated?
You non-stop eating that.
Based on the price, the time we waited,
the hygiene, it's overrated.
And the rating that that guy gave you.
Yeah, it ain't a 9.5.
No.
He's lying to you.
There's normally a massive queue, huh?
We're quiet today.
It's Monday.
All right, there we go.
That's why we came on a Monday.
Oh, lovely.
Thank you so much.
Those guys.
Thank you so much.
Right.
This is it.
It's that little tiny, that's it.
Normally there's a queue for hours.
We got it straight away.
I think they must've saw us waiting outside
and they got cooking them
because they were done instantly.
These were eight quid, by the way.
And also, this creator said they were 1,000 out of 10.
All right, here we go.
Absolutely not.
What is that?
That is dead.
That's like a 1.8.
Why would you pay eight quid for that?
Now I know what you're probably thinking.
Oh, Harrison, you paid eight pound 50
for a tub of chocolate and strawberries.
Here, you're getting pancakes
and the strawberries in the chocolate.
I know it doesn't make sense.
I know you're like, Harrison, make it make sense.
It don't make sense.
This ain't worth it.
This is so overrated.
I didn't even have to wait to get these.
If I had to queue an hour to get these,
I thought these were going to really be good.
I'm kind of disappointed with these.
If this was four quid, I'd be like, good deal.
Genuinely don't taste of anything.
It's just there.
Maybe a hint of egg.
That's about it.
Right.
Let's get out of Chinatown and onto the next spot.
I would never, ever, ever get this again.
Any allergies or celebrations?
No allergies, no celebrations.
Amazing.
And what is your first name, please?
Harrison.
Perfect.
Behind the lovely lady here.
The host is really, really nice here.
Five minute wait.
Normally it's like a 30 to 50 minute wait.
This is already why it's overrated.
Why would you queue for an Indian?
If I was at the back of the queue, I'd be like, man.
So we're at Dishoom.
This is known by a lot of Londoners
as an overrated spot.
So I asked if this thing was still true.
You come to Dishoom, you ask for a key ring.
And then at the end, when you ask for the bill,
if you roll a six, your whole bill is free.
And it's actually still a thing.
It's a little tip.
If you ever come here, ask for the key ring.
We waited five minutes.
It's a Monday.
We came on the most quietest day.
It's still packed.
A queue started to form.
And then it was probably getting in the range
of like 30 minute wait, hour wait.
Right.
We're just being honest.
It took about 35 minutes to come.
It looks great though.
This looks unbelievable.
This is what annoys me.
Five pieces of chicken.
That's it.
That's all you get.
And then it's just loads of sauce,
which the sauce is fine
because you've got the bread and the rice.
I mean, it tastes great.
Oh, it is good.
It's got a good kick.
Decadent, rich, luxurious, comfort food.
Garlic naan in the sauce.
Also, last time I was eating Indian food,
everyone got annoyed at me
for not using my hands in eating.
So that's why I'm using my hands today.
Taste-wise, for it being reliable,
this does taste great.
I can't knock it.
I can't say this doesn't taste good.
The things that I don't like are
that you've got a queue, wait,
and then also it's kind of expensive
for what you're getting.
16.50.
You're kidding?
16.50.
Not just that?
Just the chicken.
Garlic naan, yeah.
4.70.
How much?
4.70.
And then what'd you get?
This is adding up, too much.
The rice is 4.50.
I mean, that kind of answers it.
I don't really have to say anything.
You can be the judge.
I don't think any curry for five bits of chicken thigh
should be 16.50.
That's pretty wild.
We need to have a little chat.
We didn't get to play the game.
The server that gave us the key ring,
super nice guy,
he was like, oh, I knew that was coming.
And we were like, what?
He was like, I just tried my luck.
See if he would let you do it.
You have to come back the next time
and say that you've got it.
Because apparently this is their gift,
and then you pay there to eat,
and then you come back the next time.
And it don't really make sense to me,
but like, sure, whatever.
I'm not bashing the food of this place.
The food is great.
That's not the point of this video.
It's to talk about if this is overrated.
The price came to 28 pounds, 91 pence.
Do you weigh up waiting in queue?
Okay, we only waited five minutes,
but normally you'll wait a minimum of 30.
Do you wanna pay 30 pounds ahead?
No, I don't.
And then third, do you wanna get shafted
into playing a game that isn't actually a game,
and then they get you to come back the next time
to play the game for a one in six chance?
No, I'm not bashing the food.
Food's great.
Is it overrated?
Yes, it is.
This video is based on the creators
and articles of people that hype places up.
It's not Dishoom's fault.
La Entrecote, next up.
Now there's loads of articles
about how this is the most overrated restaurant in London,
or one of the most overrated.
There's always a queue.
Apparently people say it's not worth the wait.
Some people say it's worth the wait.
I've heard mixed reviews.
Kicking off things with the salad.
It's just a mustard salad with walnuts on top.
That's it.
I ate that in the most disgusting way.
I'm embarrassed.
Basic, simple, no menu.
Fantastic so far.
So you've got a nice plate of steak with the fries.
Asked for it cooked medium.
This is 31 pounds for the salad.
You get a second plate and the sauce and some fries.
We nearly didn't get into this place, by the way.
We were nearly turned away at the door.
They were like, nah, might not be able to see you.
I was like, you're kidding.
We've been waiting 20 minutes.
I don't know what they put in this magic sauce,
but whatever it is, it's unbelievable.
If anyone works at La Entrecote,
can you please message me
and maybe tell me the sauce recipe?
Thank you so much.
Second plate, more steak on, more sauce.
I will say, it's not the most massive plate.
You know, it's not like,
oh my God, this is the craziest, biggest plate.
It's not about that,
but it's the fact that I've had two small plates
and the chips are banging.
The fact that they only do steak and chips,
they get it right.
Right, that was 31 pounds for the meal.
You've got the salad, you've got the steak
and another refill of the steak and the fries.
You are a bit crammed in there.
However, I do feel the quality of the steak
and that God damn Mersenne sauce,
is worth it.
Is it overrated?
We had to wait 20 minutes.
Yeah, you're crammed in.
We waited in line for longer,
but the wait for food was five minutes.
Genuinely got the salad straight away,
got the steak straight away.
They just ask you how you want it cooked.
Also probably worth noting,
we got about the same amount of food,
but except here, we're eating the steak
versus Dishoom is chicken thigh and getting five pieces.
They did offer desserts, wasn't in the mood,
as you can probably guess.
I don't think it's overrated.
I think it's a spot on place.
I'd definitely come back here again.
On that note, thank you so much for watching.
I'll see you next week.
Peace out, bye.
