In 2024, Subaru released the 3rd generation Subaru Crosstrek and in 2025 Subaru is making changes that I think we'll all be pleased with. I'll also address a couple Subaru features we won't be getting on the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek that many people have asked about.

There are three changes coming to the 2025 Subaru Crosstrex and today we're going to highlight
those exact changes. We're going to talk about some details on the Crosstrex just in general.
They came out with a new generation for the 2024 model year so that was the third generation
running for the Subaru Crosstrex and about every five to six even seven years they come out with
a total new redesign so this is really more of a refresh but there are some significant changes
they're making this year some things to be on the lookout and maybe could determine whether or not
you go with the 24 or decide to wait a little bit longer and get a 2025. If you are new to my
channel my name is Alex I like to share weekly videos all on Subaru related topics so if you

greatest around Subaru consider clicking that subscribe button down below and as always if you

small favor to ask but it helps me out a ton and I really appreciate it. To give you a quick recap
and catch up to speed with what has changed with this third generation in 2024 Subaru redesigned
the exterior of the Crosstrek they redesigned the seats to make them more comfortable and then they
also came out with the new touchscreen display which was first introduced on the 2020 Outback
and has since been carried out to every other model including our most recent the Subaru
Forester. So now all of your Subarus have this large 11.6 inch touchscreen display unless of
course if you go with the base trim the base trim has two smaller seven inch displays with a split
in the middle. Both displays virtually operate the exact same way except this one has wireless Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto whereas the split screen does not and it requires cable connection in order
to use CarPlay and Android Auto. Subaru also introduced the Crosstrek wilderness trim line
for the 24 model year which added the standard 2.5 liter engine an additional transmission cooler to
help with additional towing capabilities and climbing capabilities if you do decide to take
this off-road. It's got all-terrain tires and it's overall a more off-road capable Crosstrek.
They are continuing this Crosstrek wilderness and keeping it the same for the 25 model year.
Now let's talk about what you came for. The differences. What's changing for 2025? What is
Subaru doing different for this new model year? The first change that they are making is with the
color options. They are removing one color and adding another. The new color is going to be
Daybreak Blue Pearl. I don't really know exactly what that's going to look like. I'll show you
all that I have right now but this is going to replace the Horizon Blue Pearl. So here's a look
at the Horizon Blue Pearl that we currently have and we've had for many years now on the Crosstrek
and they're going to do away with this and replace it with this new Daybreak Blue Pearl color which
the pearl tells me I guess it's going to be a metallic color like we're used to seeing on many
of our Subaru colors and this is listed as a premium color option meaning there's going to be
an upcharge to get it. It's $395 added to the MSRP if you go with this color just like in our Alpine
Green that we first saw in 2024 and and the Offshore Blue that were also offered as premium
color options. Now this new color the Daybreak Pearl appears to only be available on the base
trim and the premium trim line whenever we look at the spec sheet. So it's not going to be available
on the Wilderness, the Limited, or the Sport from what I can tell. The second change that Subaru is
making for the 2025 Crosstrek has to do with the engine. So in the past a lot of people have had
complaints about the lack of horsepower or the lack of acceleration on the Subaru Crosstrek.
It used to only come standard in a two liter engine with 152 horsepower. A lot of people felt
like Subaru could do more. After all Subaru has the 2.5 liter in their Outbacks and Foresters.
They even have a 2.4 liter turbo in the Outback and even a turbo engine in the WRX and previously
in the STI many years ago. So why can't Subaru develop a higher performance engine for the
Crosstrek if that's what people want? Well Subaru tried to address this in 2024 with the third
generation Crosstrek adding the 2.5 liter standard on only the Sport, the Limited, and the Wilderness
trim line. If you went with the base or the premium trim you still got a two liter engine. Well now
for 2025 I'm happy to announce that Subaru is going to have a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated
engine standard on all but the base trim. So if you go with the premium even though it's a lower
priced option you're going to have the ability you're actually going to get the 2.5 liter standard
which equates to about 30 more horsepower putting you right at 182 horsepower and a little bit more
torque as well. I think it's about 30 something pound feet of torque additional compared to the
last generation 2024 model. So no while we're not getting a turbo engine we are getting a larger
displacement for the lower trim line offerings. And there has been talks of the hybrid coming to
the Crosstrek. Previously Subaru had a hybrid powertrain many years ago. It was only offered
in I think like 10 states in North America. It wasn't offered everywhere but Subaru has announced
with the 25 Forester that they are developing a hybrid engine. They're going to release hopefully
mid 2025 and with that hopefully the Crosstrek comes shortly after. I don't know if it'll be
around the same time or later in the year but hopefully the Crosstrek hybrid gets released
after or re-released after. This is not going to be a plug-in hybrid but it's supposed to be
something that we anticipate being incredibly popular. A lot of people ask about the hybrid
and I think that this is a good bridge between the gap from fully ice and electric. This is
something that I think is a good medium a middle ground for people who want additional fuel economy
but aren't quite ready to make the switch over to full EV. Before we address the third change that
Subaru is making for the 25 Crosstrek I want to talk about two features that I know we are not
getting because many people ask me about it and sadly at least here in the U.S. we do not get
these two features. One of them has to do with the all-weather package. Now if you look at the spec
sheet of a premium with this optional package on up you're going to see something listed as
all-weather package and that includes your heated side mirrors, your heated seats, and your heated
front windshield wipers. Unfortunately this does not mean it includes a heated steering wheel.
So right now we are in a 2025 Outback Onyx. It does have a heated steering wheel. Unfortunately
here in the U.S. the Crosstreks don't get the heated steering wheel in that package. I believe
that's only in Canada from my understanding. Obviously it's much colder there and even in
northern states where we get snow and cold they don't have that on the Subaru Crosstrek. It'd be
nice to have that as a part of an optional package but we don't get it. The other feature that I know
we're not getting on the Crosstrek is the power rear gate like we see here in this Outback. It's
offered on many other models that Subaru has but we don't get a power liftgate on the Crosstrek
and my thought always was well the power liftgate on the Crosstrek is really lightweight so whenever
you open it about halfway up it kind of flies up on its own. That's really not the the issue.
The real issue is whenever you're trying to close it so if you're either really short or don't have
the strength to pull that down you're not going to have that power assist on the rear gate to open
and close it for you. Subaru does have a little bit of a workaround. It's not perfect in my opinion
but you can get an OEM strap that is connected to the bottom of that hatch that you can then
pull on that so it brings it down probably about five or six inches lower at least the strap the
handle is lower so you can grab that and pull it down so you've got a little bit more leverage than
having to reach all the way up to pull that down yourself so it's not perfect but that is what they
have as an optional accessory on the Crosstreks and last but not least probably something that
you could have guessed the third change for 2025 is going to be pricing now each and every year
depending on how Subaru how much they change on the vehicle dictates how significant this price
change is well it's really not that significant this year because they're keeping a lot of things
that they brought in the third generation they're really only doing kind of a revamp
the base trim line when you compare the base 2024 to the base trim 2025 you're only looking at about
a $500 difference in price the base MSRP on a 24 was $25,195 and it is now $25,695 so really not
that big of a difference when you compare pricing so if you are out there shopping you're trying to
or trying to snatch up one of the last 2024 models worst case scenario the 25 really isn't going to be
that much more and with dealer inventory getting better a lot of dealerships are discounting their
cars already so it's not going to be that significant in my opinion but it is something
to be aware of in terms of availability on the 2025 Crosstrek we are in the beginning of November
these are going to be arriving very soon we're projected to get our first batch of the 25
Crosstreks by end of December if you were to place an order right now for a Crosstrek at your
local retailer you could probably expect a lead time of around two to two and a half months
putting the projected arrival sometime in January so really not too far out that's about in line
with what we would expect when it comes to placing new car orders if you all have any questions at
all leave those down in the comment section below I really hope you enjoyed today's video and found
it insightful if you did remember to click that like button before you leave
