ETIAS: The New Travel Authorization You Need for Europe in 2025

Hi, my name is Kat and I'm here to help make your travel life easier. So today I'm talking about a new travel authorization for going to European countries. This travel authorization is not officially out yet, but it should be out by mid 2025. I want to tell you about it now so that you can start looking into it. The new travel authorization is called ETIAS. ETIAS stands for the European Travel Information and Authorization System. What is ETIAS and why does it matter to you? Well, if you're from the United States or one of the countries listed here, you do not require a visa to enter these European countries. However, in order to enter these 30 European countries, you do require travel authorization. This is a new fully electronic system that prescreens travelers from visa exempt countries before they arrive in Europe. Why are you hearing about this now instead of next year? Well, it's to get you familiar with the idea of applying for travel authorization before going to Europe. Better for us to talk about it now than for you to be like, I never heard of that. Is that for real? Is that true? It's just so that way you're not caught off guard when the change is in effect. How do you apply for ETIAS? Well, the link is in the description below. That website is the official website, the only website at this time where you would be able to apply for your ETIAS. The application is a pretty simple form. It will cost seven euros or around eight US dollars to pay for it. And it should take about a couple of minutes to get the approval. However, it could take longer. There may be additional questions or reviews. So it's important to fill this out in advance. When you apply for this authorization or any travel authorization, make sure that you double check that the details you have entered are accurate. If you misspell your name, if you put in the wrong address, that could delay approval. Once approved, your ETIAS is good for three years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Again, it's not out yet, but it's coming soon. So that's why I'm doing this video now. So that way you can start thinking about it. Just keeping it in mind, put it on your travel checklist. Make sure that you know what you need before you go. So this website is going to give you exactly what you need to know. It is the official website to learn more about this. And they give you information on how to apply, what you need to do before you travel, and additional information on how to contact them directly.
