HELP! How Do I Clip a Difficult Dog's Nails? Easy Grooming Tip Awaits

Hi KittyGAFam, I'm Jonja here for the Professional Dog Grooming Academy and today I'm going to show you how to clip the nails of a difficult dog. As groomers we all have those crazy dogs that just go psycho when you stop clipping their nails. I've got a basic and easy technique that I can teach you today. So you would use a towel and an assistant. So what we do is I'm going to take the towel and wrap finger like a baby. So place the towel over his back. Take one piece of the towel and wrap it underneath his face and throat and the other part underneath the dog's abdominal area and exposing one leg at a time. Be wrapping him up like a little baby. There you go. So now you can clip the nails safely. The towel is keeping him compact and I've got full control over him. He cannot move and he feels safe. And so now I can clip my nails. Even if you're on your own, take the towel and just place it underneath your armpits and pinch it and now I can clip these nails. This works better if you have an assistant as the assistant can hold the dog for you while you clip the nails. So let's just do that again and then I'm going to clip the nails. So what we do, we take a towel, place it over the back, take the one part, wrap it nice and snug underneath his throat and chest area. Take the back part and just like tuck it nice in and then we take the back part of the towel and wrap it underneath the abdominal area, pull it up through the chest and now I've got everything here compact. It also helps when you hold the dog as they have less movement. As I mentioned, having an assistant would be better. Now the groomer can comfortably clip the nails and with the towel being between my face and his, this just is a safer way that the dog cannot nip or bite my face. But if you're going to try to do this on your own, it can work. It's just a bit more difficult but let's just do that. There you go. Tuck him in. Always keep your face away, please guys. A dog can snap at any time. And expose the nail by pushing the coat back and now cutting the nail at a 45 degree angle, taking it bit by bit. When he starts to wiggle, just put some place straight with your arm on his back. Allowing him to stay in place. There we go. Bit by bit. There you go.
