Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I just thought we might take a look at this quite quickly tonight, to make sure that the show is healthy, using our zither like a choir.
As virgins we have a very singing based approach to musicianship and different things that we can do to become better musicians.
Singing in a classroom and singing in a choir develops a highly trained ear and a depth of musicianship that is hard to replicate by just a member of the choir.
To sing in tune, to sing in harmony, to sing with expression and sensitivity, to understand different styles of music, to work as a team, and to be disciplined and to be self-controlled in rehearsals, which we practice all the time.
These are some of the reasons why choir is so important in some of the lessons that I speak to.
All the things we can do, strictly with our instruments, is only our voice, which we were born with.
We're all on a level playing field, and it's the most revealing measure of our skilled admonition.
Tonight we thought it would be fun to do a little show on healthy, so that you get a taste of what we do in the classroom, because lots of you are new parents.
I thought it would be nice to have a little time with some of the children in the classroom, and also that which we follow up on a regular basis with the choir.
Choir is very much about musicianship, not just about getting together to sing a song, but to learn how to sing a song.
In the classroom we use this songwriting approach as well, and we use it to learn theoretical content.
We thought we'd just perform through a short little song that we've learned in the classroom, and we're going to show you how we can sing it through a short song, and we can pick it up at the same time.
Come follow, follow me, echoing along.
Ta, ti, ti, ti, ti, ta, ti, ti, ti, ti, ta.
And we'll teach melodic lessons, so that students can sing, so far, to the notes, and we can dance along.
Jo, re, re, mi, mi, sol, la, ti,
Jo, re, mi, sol, la, ti,
So we're going to sing note names, decode them, and we're going to perform them at the same time.
It's quite complicated.
If you're not loud enough, it will be a problem.
Ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti,
It's very much a higher level activity.
Lastly, we've got one other little song to perform with you.
We're going to be demonstrating how some songs can be performed simultaneously.
Some songs together as a part of a song.
And we've got another song that matches this song, which goes like this.
Have you seen a bird fly so high?
Have you seen a fish swim so deep?
Have you seen a horse run so fast?
Yes I have in all words of
Have you seen a bird fly so high?
All you have to do is participate.
When they're finished, you have to pluck the rhythm of their song.
Thank you.
