Overcoming Worry, Anxiety and Stress

Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel.
If you are new here, the hope is that you just feel like we are sitting down having
some girl talk.
And today I want to talk to you about worry, because I feel like if I'm going through it,
I can't be the only one going through it.
And so in my devotion time this morning, I actually wanted to talk to you about something
completely different, and the Lord kind of redirected me, and everything I was reading
had to do with why worrying can be so detrimental to our mental stability, and how when we worry,
it actually is so upsetting to Jesus, because He's like, if you remember my faithfulness
through your life, and you remember all of the promises I have for you, then why are
you worrying?
A lot of you actually asked me what I use for my devotion time, and there's two things,
and I will link them below.
The first one is Lisa Turkhurst's book, Embraced, I absolutely love it, I think I've read every
page at least three times, but every time I read it, I get something new.
And then lately, I've been using this Bible called Thrive.
It's pretty great.
I think the reason why I love it is in the pages, it actually has little prayers, and
then it also has little devotions inside of the text.
And so today, I just opened it up, because a lot of times I like just opening it up randomly,
and it says greater than our worries.
And Chad and I were literally having this conversation last night about how there's
no point in worrying, we can worry our life away, and this verse was actually so encouraging,
and I'm sure you've heard it before, but if not, I'm going to read it out loud.
It's Isaiah 12 2, and it says,
And it's just like, my mind is just reminded of how silly I can be sometimes, because a
lot of the things that I worry about don't even matter.
I do this all the time.
I'll worry about a conversation I have to have with someone, and it'll take up so much
of my mental space, and then I have the conversation, and it's like not even a big deal, and then
I wonder, why did I waste so much time worrying about this?
And so I think that we have to get to a place where we hold tighter to His promises than
our problems, because we don't have room for both.
Like we're either living inside of God's truth and inside of His promises, or we're living
inside of worry and doubt and fear.
And so I think what I want to encourage you in today is to really take an inventory of
your mind and say, how much of this space is taken up by fear, doubt, and worry?
And how much is joy, hope, and just like reassurance of truth?
And I think that if the majority is here, then this can't even exist.
And so I think that the biggest thing that I'm trying to get across in this video is
that worry is something that we all go through, whether it's worrying about a relationship
or worrying about a job or worrying about a test and worrying about like where your
life is going, and we don't actually enjoy where we're at because we're too busy worrying
about tomorrow.
Ooh, my baby's here.
Come here.
Hey, babies.
Babies, what are you worried about?
I'm not worried about anything.
I am blessed and highly favored.
Babe.
Just kidding.
Oh, wow.
Okay, we're doing this today.
Wait, let me just, okay, here we are.
I am.
You worried about them seeing your hair messed up?
Yeah, I'm worried about that.
I'm worried about our week of travel coming up.
I'm worried about some work stuff that I'm currently transitioning out of, wondering
how people will receive that.
Yeah, I have a whole list actually.
You want to see my list of things I'm worried about?
This is everything I'm worried about.
But you know what's so good about it?
What?
Is that you shouldn't be worried about any of it.
Want to know why?
Why?
Because it's not going to add a day to my life by worrying about it.
And just something for you to know, just because you are not worrying about something, that
doesn't mean you don't care about it.
That just means that you're not going to add anything by worrying and stressing yourself
out and losing sleep and not eating and being someone who you're not.
I mean, I don't know about you guys, but whenever I worry, I'm not the same person I am whenever
I'm joyful.
And I think that we should really enjoy the portions of life that aren't going our way
because we can still bring our joy to those and still be ourselves instead of being someone
who we're not.
Because I don't like who I am when I'm worried and I know she doesn't like me when I'm worried.
He's more fun when he's happy.
I'm a lot more fun when I'm happy.
But I love him anyway.
I'm a lot better dancer when I'm happy, am I right?
Maybe you should show me some dance moves.
I'll show them some dance moves.
Okay, that's just for me.
Bye bye.
I have such a wise husband.
I love bringing him in.
But no, what he said was so good.
And honestly, just reiterating kind of what I've been saying that it's not, it actually
takes more energy to worry.
And so it's way more fun to live in joy and to live in hope and expectancy that something
great is going to happen.
And also having that joy that surpasses all understanding.
So your circumstances might deem or like make sense to worry about them.
But when you're like so engulfed in the truth of God's word, you just have this joy and
you have this peace because you just know that he's good.
And honestly, God teaches us so much inside of our suffering.
And so what I want to encourage you in is if your life is kind of in shambles or you
feel like everything's falling apart and you are worried, I would encourage you to just
engulf yourself.
Like get lost in his word, write down his promises and read them daily.
Like renew your mind morning by morning and it's just going to set you up for success.
It's going to set you up to live inside of peace, to live inside of hope, and you're
just going to be more fun to be around and things are going to start changing.
Like your life is going to change when your mindset changes.
So love me.
This is how I talk now, in case you guys were wondering.
