And we take a look at the tail of the TAYPOR opening contest as mentioned the weight you
see the concession being made on Castro's part Katana's team reportedly requested this
as you see the weights above the 135 pound limit Katana will enjoy a slight reach advantage.
That's right hand over the top there from Castro last time out we saw him score a seven round
technical decision over Georgia Costa as part of the Crawford Matrimon fight week that was
at the Santa Monica Pier and I think his performance in that fight was the driving
force behind his decision to go up to 130. He won that fight clean won every round
on the judges scorecards but he just didn't look like the contender we expected to look like so
here he is five pounds heavier the weight cut is a little bit easier hoping to have
more strength more activity on fight night and his most recent loss was stopped by Juan Carrasco
who went on to face Zaur Zaur Abdullaev in an IBF eliminator earlier this year so this is a
guy who has fought more experienced quasi world level opposition in recent times and that will
understandably be ruled a slip. Mark Castro really imposing his will and his size really early in
this fight he's getting overly aggressive here but I like that strategy against Katana who wants
to be jabbing him on the outside but you know keeping his range and distance Castro's not
allowing that. It has a lot of success that way. That's uh way too high praise I would say. I didn't
say he was Gennady Golovkin I said the bar was high. Not for you for his team to be comparing him
to a silver medalist and a middleweight champion and one of the biggest punchers
in the last in the last 20 years so high praise and high
aspirations for Mark Castro. He's a volume puncher this is him right now.
Really bringing the heat here in the third round Katana sneaking in a nice counter there a moment
ago. Looping right hand there from Katana caught on the gloves of Mark Castro comes right back with
a nice left hand to the body. Good body shot by Katana right there that's what he's gonna have
to do he's gonna have to move his upper body not give a stationary target for Castro because
Castro will punch at anything you keep those gloves up he's gonna punch at the gloves at the
shoulders biceps and that's gonna accumulate points and get confidence so Katana wants to move that
upper body. Struggling back downstairs but there again a nice counter right hand from Katana.
Chopping right hand chopping right hook by Katana. I really like Katana's jab too it's long
you can see it's strong and if you can get that going it's gonna be issues for Castro
to come in as easily as he did in that first round. Castro kind of taking a walk backward
there a moment ago Katana's corner thought they might have had him hurt instead Castro got what
he wanted now having a nice little sequence here Katana misses with a big looping left hook.
There's something we don't see that often it's Castro backpedaling you know going backwards but
I think Katana he got some respect he has some good pop in his punches I think Castro has to
respect that now going forward. Certain fighters are able to get away with that and normally those
fighters are guys with wide shoulders. Big left hook there from Katana and that got the Katana
corner fired up and he steps in with another one and now starting to get a little bit more playful
feeling himself here in the fourth round. That's the thing about these Argentinian fighters man
they got power all of them got power you know both these guys have about the same knockout ratio
you can see the heavier hands about by Katana. Final 20 seconds of round four certainly the best
of the fight for Agustin Katana who just landed a beautiful uppercut there on the inside.
Castro trying to get his leg back here with sheer volume nothing landing cleanly there in that
flurry this is an excellent round for Agustin Katana. I'll tell you what Corey I think it started
in the last round in the third round I like the shots that Katana landed this is an evenly
matched up contest so far. Katana can hide behind those wide broad shoulders and he's good and fluid
and coming back with counters. Nice right hand over the top there from Katana bringing it and rocking
Castro's head around. Constant work to the body here from Mark Castro now climbs the ladder with
a nice right hand and now you see Katana's not rolling and coming back countering with those shots
so this is where this is where Castro does have success he beats the attrition out of you.
He cannot miss with those hooks Castro's keeping his head in the exact same position
not moving his upper body not moving that head and you can see Castro looks gassed right now
he just got flipped again with that same left hook and now a right hand might have Castro in
trouble. He kind of slipped right there on the emblem in the middle of the ring but it was still
a clean right hand that landed. Look at the uppercut the amount of energy he spends early
in the rounds of these fights he's just throwing so many punches and expending so much I think
useless energy Sergio that leaves him in this state. I absolutely agree and that's the reason
being a volume puncher either you have to have a great engine or you have to hurt opponents.
Castro's not a one punch one punch combination guy just like you mentioned so it's not one punch
you're gonna do it he breaks down fighters but Katana's not gonna go anywhere he's in this fight
as well. Good shot again Castro coming back with the right hand and now a left hook.
Shots there by Katana left hook right hook uppercut that's the thing Castro can't be
getting hit like this man. Big right hand from Castro but he walks right into another left hook.
Chris Mannix how do you have this one scored so far? Got 77-75 in favor of Mark Castro I thought
Katana did his best work of the fight in that eighth round gave Castro the two prior to that
so he had a good start 77-75 this fight definitely still in doubt. Mark Castro using everything he
has left in the closing moments of this fight and these scorecards will be very interesting.
Carlos Colon 97-93
Quintana. Luis Ruiz 96-94 Castro.
