Well guys welcome to another adventure and the adventure starts right now because
we can't even make it to the start line. Paul is in the van we're brainstorming what to do.
There's been a lot of snow and the access point goes down this way and we're thinking that if
the van goes down this way it won't really make it back up. Considering our options right from
the get-go it's 12 30 we have about three and a half hours left of sunlight. The adventure starts
right now. We're going for it we don't know how we'll come out tomorrow but well we made it down
we were probably a bit more dramatic than we needed to be but can never be too careful here
and we just wanted to weigh our options. Absolutely beautiful here it's a winter
wonderland and we have it all to ourselves this is absolutely magical.
Hey guys and welcome to another adventure. I'm here with my good buddy Paul and we're here in
this beautiful winter wonderland. It's approaching 3 p.m and sunset is in about an hour. We're
expecting some pretty severe weather over the next few days so priority right now is to establish a
strong camp. What do you think buddy? Is this flat? We can't do it here.
Is it? Hello captain. Let's check it out. Gorgeous man look at this. Well we've come to a second spot
now the first one didn't work out and we continue to run out of time. We're looking for shelter from
the wind. We're expecting a lot of wind on the last day coming from the south and this site would
probably get blasted on the last day but tomorrow we would be in good shape here. Gonna try and find
a relatively flat spot for the hot tent and establish camp. See if we can find something
really protective. No, not happening here mate. I don't think so. Can't wait for a nice warm fire
to warm up. It's gonna be pretty cold during this trip. We're expecting lows of minus four or minus
five and winds potentially gusting to over 50 miles an hour so really harsh conditions and with
that comes a lot of respect and good decision making so we're really going to make sure that
we set up a good camp to be safe. Yeah. You sleep on the opposite side of the door and you can lay
whichever way you want sort of thing. Okay. Is this the door? The door is. Okay this is the point.
Hey nice. Nice. Are you pulling quite hard on this one? When you do it? Yeah fairly. I'm not
gonna pull the one out next to it though. Is there a rock there? Yeah there's a rock there.
It'll be a cold one. Well looks like we got the tent up for now. We're not too confident about
the setup and it's super calm absolutely beautiful but it's not really testing the tent in the wind
so we'll have to wait for tomorrow for that. Can't wait to get that fire going, get some hot food on.
Temperature's really dropping and all the batteries are failing, the GoPro is failing,
it's hard to film but stunning to be here. Let's get that fire going.
Well about 6 15 p.m and let me tell you how grateful I am for having this hot tent.
Paul did amazing to bring it and to set it up. It's boiling here it's like probably around 25
degrees celsius or more and it's minus 3 outside. There's almost a 30 degree difference in
temperature. Big morale booster to feel this warm when it's so cold outside and it's time now to
make some dinner. We're gonna make some tea first. I brought some fresh ginger, some lemon and some
maple syrup to make a nice fresh homemade tea. With that let's settle into the adventure and
enjoy this beautiful winter wonderland. Maple syrup, nice little
whoa yeah that's probably too much. Smells good.
Finished it? No. Oh I was gonna say, you just downed it.
Go for it. I mean that's gonna expand isn't it? Not really. Whatever, we'll find out.
That's quite a bit of pasta there.
Yeah please. Thank you yeah.
Look at that. What a meal guys. Salmon, tortellini and broccoli. Eating like kings.
Bon appetit my friend. The salmon is cooked to perfection man. That's amazing. Well done dude.
Look at that. Nice and cozy. Paul is on that side, I'm on that side. Got my summer bag there with
little blanket to help to boost the rating. All right guys 10 o'clock. Paul is already passing
out here in his sleeping bag. Pretty cold outside, it's minus four but the stove is
doing a good job of keeping us warmer. We are a little bit concerned about our exit plan.
There's a snowstorm coming with gusts predicted to be over 90 kilometers an hour so we have to
really think about our options here and make sure that we have a safe way to get out. We're
gonna sleep on it, wake up tomorrow fresh and develop a plan of action. With that good night
So nice. We had a good night's sleep, got pretty cold between two and five in the morning and then
Paul bravely got out of his sleeping bag and lit the stove again and then we snoozed for another
like two to three hours. He only admits that he slept 20 minutes but that's a long 20 minutes mate.
We're here enjoying the warmth of the tent and we're gonna get some breakfast on and in the
meantime we're listening to the beautiful sound of the snow falling against the canvas and yeah
very atmospheric. Luckily the wind hasn't really kicked in yet. We hope it doesn't come at all
and it may be due to the position we are camping in. It may just be down to
being sheltered. We're taking that as it comes. We need to time this like five minutes maybe.
Oh sh** I cracked one. Oh wow. Oh you cracked your one? No yours. Was that a sh**? Of course it was.
Why was that my one? Oh that's toasty. That one's toasting.
This toast is ready I think. Well super breakfast. We got some eggs, avocado,
cherry tomatoes, cucumber on a nice protein soya bread and yeah nice to be here nice and warm
and in good company with Paul. Cheers guys. Cheers buddy. Yeah cheers man. Thank you very much.
You're welcome. Thank you. Very good.
Proper breakfast of champions right there. Yum. This has been pretty much a eating show so far.
Yeah I'm fine with that. Yeah me too. No sometimes guys it's nice to relax, kick back and not have to
move, not have to do too much and it's one of those trips it's snowing outside, cold last night and
nothing else to do but chill here and take it all in and sometimes that's pretty nice. Yeah.
Well we're approaching midday and not much to do but relax here and enjoy this beautiful spot.
It's been snowing pretty much the whole day. Luckily the wind hasn't really been a factor.
I think we're protected from the east side here, really sheltered and the forecast was saying
gusts of over 70 kilometers an hour for today and we haven't experienced any of that at all which is
a real real blessing. Tomorrow the wind is supposed to come from there from the southwest
so we're really exposed and we have the whole lot for the wind to build up speed and force
so we'll see how that goes but in the meantime absolutely gorgeous here man. So quiet.
So so quiet. Listen to it. Well it's really warm here in the hot tent now and it's making me want
to go in the water. Just to challenge myself a little bit the water temperature is probably around
one degree celsius so it's gonna be really cold. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna stoke up the fire
a little bit make sure this is nice and hot for when I come back. Fire stoked. Probably a pretty
stupid idea I shouldn't be doing this. Cold on the feet already. Damn damn damn. You want to go for it?
You coming in? Oh my gosh.
Very beautiful especially when you're about to freeze my nuts off.
Okay can't take too long. Here we go. Here goes nothing.
Here we go. One one two three four five six seven eight nine ten
eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen
She's a cold one.
She's a cold one. Ah lovely lovely lovely.
Okay I think that's enough. Quick wash and we're off to the hot tent.
How was that? Cold.
Thinking about it? Yeah. You should do it man. Do it. Come on man. Do it. It's a once in a lifetime
experience. Oh man. I don't know. Once in a lifetime. Come on. Peer pressure. Peer pressure.
Maybe I need you holding my hand on the way in. Yeah I'll hold your hand.
Ah my feet. Are you gonna look after the tent? Me? I already stoked the fire. Well that will
wake you up and that will make you feel alive. Let me tell you. Gets your blood flowing
and shocks your body. My feet are about to fall off. Luckily the fire has been stoked in the hot
tent and this is what it's all about guys. These moments make it all worth it and couldn't be
happier right now. Well we were all dressed up. We were going to go for a paddle and um
unfortunately it's now raining. Snow raining heavy so hypothermia weather so we can't really go out
in this. I guess we're confined to the tent for a little longer. Nothing wrong with that. One of
those trips we're just relaxing. We would like to do more but we also have to be smart about what
we're doing and the risks we're taking and getting hypothermia here is no joke. The terrain
little squares? What are you thinking? Medium? Medium it is coming up. That's a medium square
sort of. Whoa almost almost. That was dinner done. There we go. Nicely coated.
Now come with me. Come with me man.
I was recording.
Sweet and sour tofu. Colorful isn't it? Yeah.
Bon Appetit. Thank you my friend. It's good. It's really good.
All right guys another great day here in the wilderness of Scotland.
I'm a little apprehensive about the winds. We're supposed to get to 90 kilometers an hour for Gus
and the direction should be from the southwest which is exactly the most unfavorable direction
for us. So with that time to go to sleep and see you guys tomorrow. Good morning or should I say
good midnight guys. It's about 2 30 in the morning. Woke up pretty cold. It's been raining like crazy
the last couple of hours. I managed to wake Paul up as well and he kindly got... What are friends for?
And yeah Paul kindly got the fire going and it's already warming up in here but
taking advantage now to get some food in and we're having this little midnight party going on.
We're gonna have some granola with oat milk. We got the fire back up on the way. Trying to
heat some water for the hot water bottle to get back in the sleeping bag. Nice and toasty.
Well good morning again. It's now 6 00 a.m. We're expecting strong winds but they haven't
arrived yet or maybe they're not coming. We don't really know. Just out of precaution we
want to make sure we're off the water before that strong wind comes. Coffee and off we go.
You recording? Yeah. Oh me handing you your coffee? No no. Is it going? Yeah it's going.
Thank you. Thank you servant. Back to your duty servant. Cheers buddy.
iPhone stopped recording. Does it work? No. It'd be so cool if it did though.
Whoa that's pretty solid man. More than I expected. Well testament of how cold the
Wait. One, two. The canoe's doing the work. Well we tried to get an epic drone shot.
Drone took off and gave me a critical landing alert because of the cold and it just started
brute force landing like one to two meters behind us and we're trying to scramble and
Paul was trying to catch the drone with his paddle which he did to be fair in the beginning and then
the drone slid off onto the ice kept trying to fly and then it just went in the water and
Paul grabbed it from about half a meter under the water so that's this drone potentially done.
Having said that this drone has already been submerged for 10 minutes underwater in Patagonia
and it survived so hopefully it can live to fight another day. I'm sorry.
Well guys what an adventure that was. Really grateful to be able to spend
three days here in the Scottish wilderness under such magical circumstances. An absolutely
beautiful winter wonderland. We didn't see anybody at all. A single soul for three days. Spent it in
great company with Paul. He's got his own channel When Nature Paws. I'll leave a link in the
description of the video. Please check it out. He's got great content. With that thanks for
watching as always guys and see you on the next adventure.
