Peace and blessings everyone. I hope everyone is doing fine. It's Caribbean Ducks here.
I'm out in the garden to show you this amazing plant. Many of you are familiar with it a little
bit. We use it in recipes. So all of my West Indian people, Caribbean people are very familiar with
this, right? This is our Broadleaf Thyme, Spanish Oregano, Indian Borage. It goes by many other
names, right? So it's a very easy plant to grow. Just break off a stem just like this,
put it in some water or soil, make sure it's well drained and you'll have a new plant in no time,
right? They'll have roots coming out right on the bottom here and you can have bountiful plants
all year long. So if you live in the winter area where it's cold, keep it indoor, keep it in a pot,
keep it next to your window and you can have a lovely medicinal plant like this,
Broadleaf Thyme. I'm going to give you 8 reasons why you should plant this and what you can use it
for. This rich aromatic plant has a combination taste of oregano, mint and thyme, but it has no
relations with oregano. It's actually related to mint. It can be used in your stews, in curries,
in any dish that you like. I also use it to flavor my meat and in my soups and whenever I make chows.
Number one reason why you should grow this plant. It has trypanoids which is an antioxidant property
that can help reduce damage of healthy cells, fights bacterial and fungal infections.
It clears out toxin in the body which speeds up recovery time. It's a mild sedative which reduces
stress and anxiety. It aids in the cleansing of your kidney and lymphatic system. It will help to
upset stomach. The tea could relieve edible bowel syndrome. It aids in women menstrual pain
and relieve headache beneficial to reducing pain and fever. It is said to reduce arthritis.
It's loaded with omega-6 and fatty acid that can help prevent osteoporosis as well. It's very rich
in vitamin A which can improve your vision, prevent macular disease. This is how I prepare
my tea in a pot with two cups of water. I add some soursop leaves and some lemongrass
and then I go in with my broad leaf thyme, cover it down, bring it up to a boil and now I cover it
down, turn the heat off and let it steep for about an hour. Then I pour it into a cup. You can have
cold or hot and now we can sweeten to taste a little bit of honey and we can enjoy a nice cup
of bedtime tea. So guys, flu season is coming up on us. Plant this, get your hands on some
and make your tea and have a delicious nighttime bedtime tea. Caribbean ducks have a blessed day.
