Load and make ready. This school bus. Unload show clear please.
If you see this gun and you think to yourself well that ought to be you know something that
is in Arnold Schwarzenegger's underarm as he's shooting from the hip,
you'd be right. There's that.
What is this? That's a hole.
Did you go for his head? Yeah.
All right so this target right here, I don't know if you guys saw it but
one of the drawbacks of the KL-12, the Vepr, is the fact that it is gigantic and so I went to try
to get it over the barrel and I really like I didn't want to tuck it all the way back in so
I went over the top and I ended up just kind of shooting it from like a 45 to 90 degree shot but
as you can see all alphas even though I staggered number four buck in with my double hot.
Two alphas one Charlie. Oh nice. Yeah.
So all right the KL-12 Dissident Arms starts its life as a Vepr, 12 gauge Vepr.
The guys at Dissident Arms take it, tear it down, tune the internals, work the gassing system,
the recoil system. As you can see there's a giant muzzle brake, red dot sight, custom stock so it's
perfectly seated for your cheek weld. The ALG trigger gets added into it. The thing is an
absolute machine. Magwell for speed reloads. This gun is a competition shotgun. That is what it is
designed to do. One of the things that you're you're not really getting a great picture of
in this style of a course because it's not really a target rich course for a shotgun that you might
see at you know a competition where there might be 10 steel plates right next to each other and
someone's just going to rip through them with birdshot. That's where the effectiveness of
that the compensator and getting those really fast splits is going to come into play.
But it is the open division shotgun that the best guys in the world are shooting right now.
It's the one that won the world shoot this past year for the world shotgun championships.
Speaking with Mike and Lam, the owners of Dissident at SHOT Show, they had actually just
completed orders to send off to the U.S. Army for the Army Marksmanship Unit or the USAMU
who are going to be running it at least in part this coming season for competition shooting.
That's the U.S. Army's competition shooting team. So pretty pretty cool stuff. Ironic that we've got
a rifle that starts its life as a Russian weapon coming to the U.S., getting overhauled, and then
being picked up by the U.S. Army. But technically though I mean the Russians also bought American
made Mosin-Nagants by Westinghouse back in back in pre-World War I. These are things that you
know Henry. Very very highly collectible. So overall we had a double lot and number four
mixed in the mag. And that was? That was on purpose because I wanted to show the difference in the
spread between the really tight double lot and then the the number four. Sure sure. Yeah definitely.
But the well I mean the the point the interesting thing is though it actually still functioned
perfectly fine with a varied. Yeah varied loads staggered loads absolutely. This gun will run
everything down into most bulk store ammunition birdshot ammunition. A lot of the advantages or
disadvantages come into effect with with respect to being tube fed versus box fed.
The the difference between say shooting this versus like I don't know a Benelli,
a Beretta 1301, SLP from FN. Like the recoil is not super dramatic on the shots up close.
What we're doing is we're shooting one per target with it with the 12 gauge. If we were
shooting multiples per target that's where you would start to see a difference between this gun
and just say like a regular let's just say the M4, the 1014, the Benelli that we've already
done a run of on the channel. Even when we get to shooting the slugs there's only a marginal
difference with adding the the brake to it. It doesn't make a massive difference but it is there
and it does help. But again you would really start to see the difference if we weren't
transitioning between every shot up close and we were just ripping shots at the at the target.
That's where you would start to see the efficiencies of you know something like this
come in over say a combative shotgun or a standard combat shotgun. Cool cool off to the next one.
