This is the Airbus ACJ 220,
the luxurious version of the commercial A220 airliner
that offers the ultimate flying experience
in utmost opulence.
With a price tag of $100 million
and a cabin area of 800 square feet or 74 square meters,
this airborne penthouse is intended to combine
the best of all worlds,
an ultra luxurious and technological cabin for comfort,
the speed of a large jet and the range of an airliner.
The huge cabin can be customized to your liking
with amenities like a private master bedroom
with an ensuite bathroom and shower,
conference area, dining zone and entertainment spaces
to cater to the needs of the most discerning clients.
Stay with us till the end of the video
because here is everything you need to know
about the Airbus ACJ 220.
Stepping inside, the huge cabin is divided
into six distinct living areas.
It can accommodate 18 passengers,
more than 100 bags and is 78 feet or 24 meters long,
10 feet, eight inches or 3.3 meters wide
and six feet, six inches or 1.98 meters tall,
offering 785 square feet or 73 square meters of floor space.
Between leather, woods, seating arrangements
and other details, a blank canvas ACJ 220
has 77 possible interior design configurations.
The idea is to personalize the interior
within a standard architecture,
unlike a bespoke cabin that has to be engineered
from scratch, which could add months
or even years to the completions process.
The plane has a flexible cabin catalog
to provide the optimal interior arrangements
that can be built in for the passengers
and the cabins will be offered in three style motifs,
a traditional style called timeless,
a classic look named quintessence
and a modern motif dubbed avant-garde.
The ACJ 220 can be configured in multiple ways
to suit the specific requirements of its owner.
Typically, the cabin is divided into several zones
that may include a private bedroom,
office area, dining space and lounge.
The forward lounge is a spacious area
for relaxation and socializing,
often equipped with living areas that are open concept,
featuring lie-flat club seats
and divans with plenty of legroom.
Passengers can look forward to cushy solo seats and sofas,
a massive dining table for eight
supported by a full galley kitchen
with its own chefs and restaurant-grade equipment.
The coffee tables extend to become elegant dining spaces
or can be removed completely
so there's even more space for passengers.
The company can also supply a DJ
and turn the middle of the jet into a dance floor.
The plane also features a scene lounge
for enjoying movies and TV shows
on a large 55-inch 4K screen,
which can be very useful for long flights.
A conference and dining area
then comprises the next living area
as one moves further into the plane.
Airbus claims that the connectivity inside the cabin
will be two times better than its competitors.
In the ceiling above the plane
features an LED lighting system
and Wi-Fi up to 50 megabits per second.
And along the cabin walls,
electrochromatic windows that dim at the touch of a button
eliminate the need for window shades.
USB sockets at each seat along with credenzas
and cabinets with inductive chargers
will enable better connectivity.
The modern design will also integrate
advanced soundproofing materials,
a temperature control system, HEPA filters,
and an integrated cabin humidification system
that will refresh cabin air every three minutes
with one-way airflow.
The aircraft is equipped
with an advanced air filtration system
that continuously circulates fresh air,
removing contaminants
and maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The cabin altitude is maintained at 6,400 feet
even when the aircraft is cruising at higher altitudes
which significantly reduces the effects of jet lag
and enhances overall passenger comfort.
Then you can find a private office
which is the dedicated area for work.
Equipped with a large desk, ergonomic chair
and ample storage,
this area is designed to mimic a high-end office
on the ground.
Connectivity is a key feature here
with high-speed internet access, multiple power outlets
and ports for various devices
ensuring that passengers can work efficiently
while in the air.
Advanced communication systems
allow for seamless video conferencing
with high-definition screens and superior audio equipment.
The office area often includes additional seating
for meetings with high-quality materials
and sophisticated design elements
that create an environment
that is both functional and luxurious.
And of course, at the back of the jet,
a master bedroom comes in handy
on the longer flights of which the jet is capable.
The master bedroom is the epitome of luxury and comfort
featuring a fully private bathroom with rain shower
and another large 55-inch 4K TV.
This space typically features a full-size bed
with high-end bedding and pillows
and is often equipped with ample storage
including wardrobes and bedside tables
allowing passengers
to store personal belongings conveniently.
On top of that, advanced climate control systems
allow passengers to adjust the temperature
and humidity to their liking.
And finally, the baggage compartment
is both spacious and easily accessible
with a total capacity of 840 cubic feet
or 23.8 cubic meters.
It provides ample space for luggage and cargo.
The compartment is pressurized, in-flight accessible
and climate controlled,
ensuring the safety and integrity of passengers' belongings.
Now, let's step into the cockpit.
The flight deck is the same you'll find
in an Airbus A220 airliner.
It was developed to be simple, cost-effective and smart
while also reducing pilot workload
and encouraging more heads up flying.
The cockpit is designed to accommodate pilots comfortably
providing ample room that exceeds the standards
often found in similar narrow body aircraft.
And visibility is very good thanks to large windows.
The avionics suite is centered around
the Rockwell Collins ProLine Fusion avionics system
and features large 15-inch LCD screens
that offer high-resolution displays.
These screens are highly customizable
and can display a wide range of flight information
and navigation data simultaneously.
The layout of the screens is strategically designed
to reduce pilot head movement,
which minimizes fatigue and enhances concentration
during long flights.
The ProLine Fusion system
integrates electronic flight bag functionalities
directly into the cockpit displays,
a feature that modern pilots appreciate
for its efficiency and environmental benefits
as it reduces the need for paper charts and manuals.
The system supports real-time graphical weather updates,
which is crucial for route planning
and turbulence avoidance,
particularly on routes prone to volatile weather conditions.
Furthermore, the avionics suite
includes advanced navigation systems
such as the ADS-B,
which enhances traffic situational awareness
by providing real-time, accurate traffic information
directly on the cockpit displays.
The flight management system is another highlight,
offering sophisticated flight planning
and monitoring capabilities.
It is designed to optimize flight paths for efficiency,
taking into account various factors like weather conditions,
airspace restrictions, and aircraft performance data.
This system plays a critical role in fuel management,
helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
Autopilot features are highly advanced
with Autoland capabilities that support operations
in reduced visibility conditions,
such as CAT III-B ILS approaches.
This allows the aircraft to land safely
with a decision height as low as 50 feet or 15 meters
and in runway visual ranges significantly lower
than those required for older or less advanced aircraft.
This capability is particularly valuable
at congested airports or in adverse weather conditions,
ensuring safety and reliability.
And finally, in terms of communications,
the cockpit is equipped
with the latest SATCOM and HF communication systems,
which ensure uninterrupted communication
with air traffic control and airline operation centers.
Now let's talk about the engine,
performance specifications, and how it flies.
Some 40% of the Airbus ACJ 220
is made from advanced materials such as carbon fiber.
That makes it lighter and means it burns 25% less fuel
than similar sized aircraft.
Thrust is provided by two newly designed
Pratt & Whitney PDOW-1500G turbofans
that emit lower emissions and half the noise footprint
of earlier generation engines.
With each one producing 23,300 pounds of thrust,
the engines are able to push the aircraft
to a maximum cruise speed of 470 knots
and up to a maximum cruising altitude of 41,000 feet
or 12,500 meters.
The aircraft's increased range will enable it to fly
up to 5,650 nautical miles,
which is 6,500 miles or 10,500 kilometers,
and over 12 flight hours,
directly connecting city pairs
such as London and Los Angeles, Tokyo and Dubai,
as well as Beijing and Melbourne.
The plane can take off in 4,800 feet or 1,460 meters
and has a landing distance of 4,550 feet or 1,385 meters,
all while maintaining a maximum payload
of 33,300 pounds or 15,000 kilograms.
Now let's talk about the price and costs.
The base purchase price for a new Airbus ACJ 220
is $81 million before options,
with well-optioned models even surpassing
the $100 million mark,
and the charter price is estimated
at $10,000 to $15,000 per hour.
Naturally, prices will vary depending on availability,
fuel prices, ground fees, and more.
While the annual fixed cost is estimated
at $1 million to $1.5 million,
the average hourly operating cost
is estimated at $5,000 to $7,500.
