Today we're in Tampines to tour a home that has been designed around Japanese minimalism
and Scandinavian warmth and as we go through the home later you would see how the homeowners have
thoughtfully balanced natural light, minimalism and neutral tones along with their own spatial needs.
So just a quick background about this home, it is a 5-room HDB that is 1,216 square feet in size.
The household consists of a couple and together with the interior designer Ascend Design have
transformed the space into what you see here today. But as usual we're going to be starting
off at the entrance. So stepping in it immediately opens up to reveal the entire space and along
this wall there is a sizeable 7-panel cabinet for your shoes and other general storage.
Right across is your dining area and it currently houses a 6-seater dining set along with circular
pendant lights above that really helps to nicely anchor this space together. So I do appreciate how
there is a decent amount of unoccupied space around this area, it really helps to give that
sense of openness and minimalism. Moving on to the living room, just look at how spacious this is
and we've also got a ton of natural soft light that is flowing into this area. So currently there
is a large 3-seater L-shaped sofa along with a compact travel tin coffee table and right across
is the TV wall that has been kept rather minimal. So here there is a 65-inch wall-mounted frame TV
along with a singular built-in TV console just right below it. One last thing that I've noticed
is that the use of the false ceilings over here does help to keep very clean lines and also to
reduce visual clutter among the primary areas of this home. So separating the dining and the living
from the rest of the home that we haven't seen yet is this wall and it does encompass a mixture
of both open and closed shelving. This does give the homeowners a variety of options to actually
display their decor items and one more thing that I do want to highlight are these glass sliding
doors over here. So these are used as the entrances to the kitchen as well as to the corridors leading
you to the bedrooms and when open it does become a part of the feature wall as well.
But right now let us head into the kitchen.
This long kitchen is finished in a galley layout and we do have quite a number of storage and
countertop options. So the walkway is pretty wide it should be able to accommodate multiple people
working in here at the same time and we do have this grey stone countertop that pairs really
nicely with this wooden cabinet and it also upturns into a half wall backsplash. In terms of
storage there is a single wall shelf over here that allows you to store some decor items or
easily reach for your condiments and on the other end we've got some standard overhang cabinets as
well. And moving further in we do have this laundry area so the wall to the service yard has been
hacked away to create an extension of the kitchen and I do find this pretty interesting. So what
this is is a small utility sink that allows you to hand wash your more delicate clothing.
On the other end is a washer and this is nicely tucked away under the counter
and right above it is this laundry basket which by the way you can find on the Stacks store so
if you haven't already seen it you should most definitely go and check it out we've got some
really cool home and decor items. Well you know we've seen all the common areas and now let's
head in to check out the bedrooms. So walking past the living and the dining and past this next glass
sliding door is a long corridor that leads you to the bedroom so at the end you'll also be able
to see the master bedroom. Here we do have access to the storage room and along with two common
bedrooms the first one is being used as a study. We've got two work desks in there and the homeowners
do frequently use this space especially when they're working from home. No major works were
done in this room and this is the same case as in the second common bedroom that is just right beside
it. These rooms have been very minimally furnished as one of them will eventually be converted into
the kids room in the future. And here we have the common bathroom I do like how it's been kept
rather simple with similar tones that we've been seeing throughout the rest of this home.
We've got tastefully finished grey floor and wall tiles and they match really nicely with this
kit kat tiled feature wall. And finally the master bedroom so it's pretty spacious in here you are
easily able to fit in a king-size bed and through that door you'll be able to find the master bath
which is finished in a very similar style to the bathroom that we saw earlier. But what I do want
to mention is the amount of storage they've managed to integrate into this room without the need for a
So at the foot of the bed you'll be able to find a six-panel wardrobe and there's even an
additional two-panel wardrobe right next to the makeup vanity counter. So overall I do feel like
this room is very well thought out with sufficient storage to go around. So thanks for joining us
