My name is Patrick Kuhn.
Patrick?
Yes.
And where are you from, Patrick?
I'm from Pittsburgh.
Wow, Pittsburgh.
My husband is from Pittsburgh.
He loves Pittsburgh.
Do you love the Steelers?
Of course.
Okay.
All right.
We got that out of the way.
And what do you do for a living?
I do magic.
That's great.
Were you born with magical powers?
Well, I sold my soul a long time ago.
Good.
Then you're very welcome here.
Are you married?
I am married, yes.
Okay.
Actually, last year.
Is she a fan or your assistant?
She liked magic before, and now I think she's a little bit tired of it.
Wait.
She liked magic?
The magic is gone already after one year?
She think I love magic more than her, so yeah.
No, I love both.
I would not be able to pick.
Well, if you do well and win the million dollars, she'll love you regardless.
Of course, yes.
Oh, my God.
Go for it.
Would you mind if I join you guys downstairs?
Please.
Join us.
Awesome.
Please do.
So, I know this may sound a little bit strange, but the end is the beginning.
I brought with me a deck of cards.
This will make sense in just a few moments.
Simon, a brand new deck of cards, can you please unwrap the deck for me?
Yeah.
Just pull this little seal out.
Perfect.
And I'm going to take this out.
A brand new deck of cards come factory sealed with sticker.
And as you can see, every deck of cards come in brand new deck orders.
Jokers and the add cards.
We don't need those.
All the cards.
Simon, your shuffle, please.
Give the deck a nice mix and shuffle.
He's almost as good as Sophia.
He's almost as good as me.
Good?
Perfect.
Now, watch closely.
The first one, the ace of spades.
From shuffle deck, the ace of spades.
And the rest, in just a few seconds.
Each one of the aces is for each of you.
The spade, the diamond, the clubs, and the hearts.
You can see there's markers on the table.
I want you to sign on the card nice and big so we know that these are the only aces that exist in this world.
Will you sign our name?
Yes, make it nice and big.
Perfect. I'm going to take the cards.
Show it to the camera.
The hearts, the clubs, the diamonds, and the spades.
You know why most people don't believe in magic?
It's because they haven't seen real magic.
Watch closely.
As the first one travels, invisibly.
From invisibly card, to invisible.
Are you kidding me?
I'll do it one more time.
From here.
One last one, check this out.
You're amazing.
Can you please hold out your hands?
Hold my hand out?
Put your hand on top.
I'm going to take the deck, watch closely.
Ace of hearts, this time in slow motion.
One, two.
Do you feel it?
Lift up your hand.
Lift up my hand?
Yes, open your hands.
The ace of hearts.
It traveled back.
How did that happen?
Check this out.
Tonight, I want to leave you with a piece of mystery.
All the aces has your name on it.
And I'll do it one more time.
And this time, in reverse.
So watch closely.
Sophia and Heidi.
I want you to please lift up your hands.
Hold out your hands.
I want to hold both your hands out like this.
Extend them out.
Face down, both hands.
Both hands.
Yes, perfect.
I want you to cover on top.
Cover on top like this.
Perfect.
Hold it nice and tight.
You know, this may sound a little bit strange.
The end is the beginning.
The beginning is the end.
Ladies, slowly lift up your hands.
You made it back.
Brand new sealed deck of cards.
This is really good.
Wait.
We've been here before.
Simon, you know what to do.
I know what to do.
That's your job.
Take out the cellophane.
Look, every brand new deck of cards comes factory sealed with a sticker.
I take all the cards out.
No.
And we're in there.
You're kidding me.
No.
Brand new card.
Ace to king, ace to king, ace to king.
Except for one difference.
The ace of spades has your name on it.
Wait, not just that.
Look, the ace of clubs with your name on it.
The ace of diamonds with Sophia's name on it.
And the last but not least, Howie, your ace of hearts.
Thank you so much.
Hope you guys enjoy the ride.
That was amazing.
Wow.
How did you get us back in the deck?
I don't know.
That was amazing.
Wow.
Incredible.
I mean, it was happening right in front of our eyes, like this close.
How on earth did you do this?
I sold my soul a long time ago.
You're good.
That was special.
That was, like, mind-blowing.
You were, like, right in front of us.
You're amazing.
Thank you so much.
Very good.
Simon.
There are certain things that can't be explained, which means it's magic.
People laugh at me for saying that, but I do believe in it.
Of course.
And I liked your whole presentation.
It was very cool.
Yeah.
It was a really, really, really good audition.
Well done.
My dad, he was performing a lot of magic in France.
And one day, I told him that the best show in the world is America's Got Talent.
And he had to audition.
I've never seen anything like that before.
My dad always told me to follow my dreams, so I told him the same thing.
I saw Eugene's performance.
It was great.
So it puts pressure on me, and I have to make no mistakes and be perfect.
The next performance, I tried to do something more creative.
To try new little things.
I have to win a GT.
I can't let my daughter down.
For me, he is the best magician in the world.
Terry, are you ready?
I'm ready.
Pick a card.
Any card.
Sign it.
Terry, your card is unique.
It's your signature.
I put your card in the middle of the deck.
Slowly.
Take it.
And take it safe.
It's your card.
The combination of technology and reality is so mind-blowing.
It's insane.
Your skill set is beyond words.
I wish I could get a little more of your French.
When you speak French, I think it's beautiful.
I would love a little bit more...
If your daughter is right, you might be the best in the world.
Sofia.
Nicolas, I think you have brought a new style of magic to AGT.
It's fantastic.
It's visually...
You are definitely one of my favorite acts of this season.
Simon, you feel the magic.
Nicolas, we had so many amazing acts throughout the auditions.
I'm gonna be honest with you.
I forgot about you.
And then...
However...
Je suis un idiot.
Because, again, a magician has made me look really stupid in the live shows.
Because that was, honestly, I think in terms of a live performance, magic.
One of the best we've ever seen.
I really believe I have magical power.
Everything happens to me, this is real magic.
When I was young, my daddy really disliked that I do magic.
But he saw my passion and he asked me,
Can you be the best?
And I was like, Yeah!
And I practiced every day.
Until, when I after work, I was so tired and I was driving to go home.
And I fell asleep.
And when I opened my eyes again, I was in the hospital.
It was really bad.
The doctor said I nearly died.
But the surgery was really good.
Amazing thing is my fingers.
I didn't hurt anything.
This was the magic.
After the accident, I realized that I have to think about my future.
And I decided to come to America's Got Talent.
I've got to go with what I saw and I'm going to say no.
When Simon said no to me, I was very worried.
I thought I have to be better.
So I'm always looking for ideas.
You can find them everywhere.
So the new act that I'm going to do for the semi-final, I never tried it.
It was very difficult.
And there's no room for mistakes.
I'm going to take Simon's no and magically turn it into a yes.
Because this is my chance to show my daddy I can be the best.
This is me when I was one year old.
This is when the real magic began for me.
And these are my special memories.
Since I started magic.
Ever since I was little, I loved to play with the imagination.
Because in my imagination, any magic was possible.
Like this.
When you believe in your imagination,
sometimes the pieces of your imagination become reality.
Just like this moment.
Confident presence about you.
Everything you do is so elegant.
And I kind of feel hypnotized.
Did you hypnotize me?
Did you hypnotize all of us?
Did you?
It was very good.
Sofia!
You did so much magic in two and a half minutes that I don't even know what I was seeing.
You made me believe in magic. This is amazing.
This was better than your audition.
And I really want to know what Simon thinks.
Simon, will you win you over?
I think I helped you.
No!
I do. I really, really do.
I think that...
The magic of Simon.
No, by me saying no at the auditions,
I think has pushed you to be a better magician.
And I'm very happy to say on live television,
I am officially an idiot.
Yeah!
I have to say, there are two words that really don't go together,
but they make sense for what I just watched.
And that is magic and beautiful.
That was beautiful. It was a beautiful story.
It was beautifully performed.
It was mesmerizing.
That's why you're asking whether you were hypnotized.
It was everything and more.
And here on AGT, magic is king.
You know, a lot of magicians are headliners right now in Las Vegas.
And, you know, only two people are going through tonight.
And if you don't get to the finals,
you certainly deserve your own room in Las Vegas.
That's right!
Now, Yuho Jin,
how does it feel to win over Simon here in the live show?
Well, actually, I don't...
I cannot find any word more than happy.
And also, thank you, Simon.
Good evening.
Hello.
Who are you, beautiful girl?
I'm Mandy, Mandy Muden.
I'm from London in the United Kingdom.
How old are you?
I'm 29.
Ah!
It's been a rough couple of years.
Do you know what I mean?
And what do you do, Mandy?
I do magic.
Why AGT? Now?
Well, being British, as Simon will back me up to say,
I love America.
Also, I owe money and had to get out of the UK.
What are you going to do with a million dollars if you win?
Well, I'd probably spend it on men.
On men?
OK, we're ready for you.
We want to see your magic.
OK, fantastic.
Right, everybody, are you ready to get into a magic mood?
Let's go, talent.
Look at this.
Four strangers ready to judge me.
It's like one of those parties where you throw the car keys
into the fishbowl.
Heidi, would you just...
I've got a bag here full of letters.
Could you just reach in and get a few out just to make sure
that they're all different?
It's very difficult with the gloves on, isn't it,
if you've just committed a crime and hoping to get away with it?
They all look different.
Lovely. Shove that back. I'll give the bag a bit of a shake.
Hi, Howie. Hi.
I want you just to take a letter.
One? Don't look at it.
OK. OK, fantastic.
Could you take one as well?
Take it out? Yes, please, and don't look at it.
We'll come back to that later.
OK, Sophia, could you do the same?
OK, fantastic.
Now, Simon, I'm going to riffle through my book.
Could you just stick anything in you like?
LAUGHTER
Finger?
Yes, a finger would be lovely, Simon.
OK.
OK, brilliant.
Now, Simon, could you look at the page number?
Yes.
And the first word on the page, Simon.
Got it. OK, and could you write them down and remember them?
Yes, I can. OK, fantastic.
I'm just going to pop back up to the stage.
Feel free to check me out, Simon.
OK.
Right, here we go.
Now, Howie, I want you to think of any word at all
in the English language.
OK.
Now, would you be impressed if the word you were thinking of
was written on a piece of paper in the bag in front of you?
Yes, more than impressed.
Please open the bag.
It's a dictionary.
Unbelievable!
Heidi and Sophia, open your packages.
OK, Heidi, what lovely love story do you have, Heidi?
Mine says Fifty Shades of Grey.
Oh!
Now, Simon, what page were you on?
Seventy.
OK, Heidi, could you turn to page 70?
I'm just going to go into a trance and read your mind.
Here we go.
Page 70.
Does your word begin with an F?
Yes.
Right, lovely. Now, are you familiar with this word?
Yes, I'm familiar with the word.
OK.
Now, the spirits are telling me that this word ends in I-N-G.
OK.
Have you done this word today?
Yes.
That's my girl! Fantastic!
Is your word, by any chance, is it fantasising?
Yes, it is!
OK, now, Sophia, could you go to 70?
Could you look at the last word on page 70, Sophia?
Wait, I don't have my glasses.
Seventy.
OK, Howard, you've got a dictionary there.
Yes.
Could you go to page 330?
OK.
And could you go down seven word entries?
Seven words. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
What's the word?
Loony.
No!
It's loony!
Now, Simon, you were thinking of a word, you wrote it down.
What was your word?
Eat.
Eat. Howard, you picked a letter.
Yes, I did.
Could you hold your letter up and shout it out?
It's an E.
What do you have there, Heidi?
I have an A.
And what do you have, Sophia?
A T.
Unbelievable!
Andy, that was quite a surprise.
Oh.
You're so funny and I didn't expect to have so much fun.
Howie.
You're a very good magician.
You're funny. I love you.
I'm a huge fan of yours.
You are the epitome of somebody that deserves to have their own show.
I would go see just you in Las Vegas.
Oh, wow. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Heidi.
I think that you are adorable.
Can I keep this?
Yes, of course.
Simon.
We saw everything, didn't we?
I mean, you were mind-reading.
You were funny.
You're very naughty.
I really like you.
Oh, thank you.
I do.
So, we're going to vote.
The yes from me for Mandy.
Oh, thank you so much.
It's a yes.
Howie.
Three yeses.
Four yeses.
Oh, thank you so much.
That's amazing.
Thank you.
He is really good.
I'm absolutely in shock. That was amazing.
I couldn't believe what Howie said.
It was like, he's such a hero of mine.
I was like, oh, my God.
She is great.
Thank you so much.
Celebrate.
Thank you.
I've arrived.
What's up, AGT?
I love technology.
Why?
Because it has the potential to bring us closer together.
Let me show you what I mean.
Hi, Heidi.
In front of you is some paper.
And here, let me grab you a pen.
Yes.
Heidi, I would like you to think of a single moment.
A moment in which you felt a strong connection to someone special.
For example, I might think of when I went sailing with my dad.
Cute.
Do you have a moment in mind?
Of course.
Okay.
I would like you to take this pen and make a quick drawing of that moment you're thinking of.
Now, it doesn't have to be fancy.
No stick figures are fine.
But when you're done, autograph it for me so that we know that it's yours.
Okay.
All right.
Now, I am on the biggest stage in the world, the AGT.
Live shows.
Love.
But thanks to technology, I get to share the biggest moment of my life with my best friend, Kyle, on video call.
Kyle, are you there?
What's up, Trigg?
I can't believe we're on live TV.
Yes.
We did it.
We made it, brother.
We did it.
Kyle, meet everybody.
Everybody, meet Kyle.
Hello, everyone.
Hi, Heidi.
How's your drawing coming?
What is happening?
How's your drawing coming?
Very good.
Should I be finished?
Keep going, but don't forget to sign it because Kyle wants an autograph.
Kyle's very excited because, honestly, we've dreamed of performing together on stage like this ever since we were teenage magicians.
It's true.
I have proof.
Check it out.
Oh, man.
We were really cool.
Really cool.
Heidi, are you done with your drawing?
I am.
Oh, I can't wait to see what you've done for us.
Let's take a look.
Oh, this is brilliant.
Okay.
Fantastic.
Take a look, everyone.
Check this out.
The wedding.
Now, I think I know what's going on here, Heidi, but could you tell us, share with us the moment you've drawn?
Well, it's my wedding.
Of course.
Incredible.
Oh, it's incredibly special.
These are the moments we live for, right?
These moments of connection, sharing them with people we care about.
And, Heidi, I would like to connect you with Kyle by sharing your special moment with him despite the distance.
Okay.
Kyle, here you go.
Oh, you want me to take it?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Get it right here we go.
Heidi, there it is.
There's your drawing right there with your autograph, you and your husband on your wedding day.
Thank you so much.
You know, I've always wanted supermodel art.
I'm going to hang this on my wall.
That's pretty good.
Right there we go.
That looks good.
What happened?
Uh-oh.
Did we lose Kyle?
Uh-oh.
We're live.
We lost Kyle.
You know, I guess I can appear like that on stage, but I can't fix Wi-Fi.
He's live.
But I don't need to because I want to remember this moment between all of us, just like she remembers her wedding day.
Right, Heidi?
Well, yeah.
Fortunately, this is not a video call.
It never has been.
It's a memory, a poster of a moment I will never forget.
I'll admit that I was the best part of this act, but you also were pretty good.
I'm sitting here and I'm like, how did he do that?
That was pretty special, right?
Thank you very much.
Yes.
Sofia, what did you think?
That was something, again, that I've never seen before on this stage, so I have to give it to you.
I mean, you took the challenge of making a work live, and it was amazing.
Thank you.
Simon.
Well, yeah.
I mean, I said to Sofia, I have no idea what's going on here, which probably is a good thing.
I think your presentation is a bit annoying.
I'm not going to lie.
However, that was clever.
We don't know how that happened, so good for you.
Howie, wow.
Good for you.
You're annoying.
I don't know how to follow that, except that I got to say that I don't know if it's annoying as much as there was kind of a dip.
You're my favorite magician this season.
And I got to say, and magic is great.
Your entrance was spectacular and jaw-dropping.
Your closing was spectacular and jaw-dropping.
I think what Simon had, in the middle, it got a little boring, but it was fantastic.
I'm glad you're here.
Only two can go through.
It's up to America, not us.
Good evening.
I can't believe it.
Wow.
Welcome to America's Got Talent.
What is your name?
My name is Mervant.
And where are you from, Mervant?
I'm from Philadelphia, PA.
Three and a half, baby, three and a half.
And what do you do?
I'm a magician.
You're a magician?
I'm a magician.
How old are you?
I am 33 years old.
Do you make a living doing magic, Merv?
I do my best.
What got you into magic?
You know, watching magic, it kind of made me feel like you have a real superpower, you know?
Like growing up, and I always loved comics and stuff, and that's the closest thing, right?
Being a magician, so, yeah.
What does this mean to you, YAGT?
You know, if you can do it on this stage, you can do it anywhere.
I've been watching this on television for years, and to possibly have a Vegas show, to tour the world, it would be a dream come true.
And do you have any support?
Does your family support this?
My family does.
They've been absolutely wonderful.
You know, this past year, I lost my grandmother.
She was one of my biggest supporters of magic.
I remember a couple years ago, I wanted to quit magic, and she said, don't you dare ever do that.
And even at times when I wasn't performing a lot of shows, I always practiced.
And this is a testament to stick-to-it-iveness, and I'm happy to be here.
Good for you.
The stage is yours.
Let's do it.
He is nervous as can be.
America's Got Talent.
My name is Mervant, and I know you've seen a lot of magic on this show.
But I want to show you something you've never seen with a deck of cards.
I want you to watch each and every card closely.
Because I have a little story for you.
And it goes like this.
52 cards.
Check it out.
It goes one for the magic, two for illusion.
Three for the fact I can mix them both for the fusion.
Four for the suits of the playing cards that I'm using.
So I'ma be the only one performer who would do this.
Five-finger discounts led me to do some sleight of hand.
I got a six cents for this.
It's like I'm Spider-Man.
Seven different wonders of the world.
There's some great ones.
Magic, music, illusion.
I'm trying to be the eighth one.
We make classes.
It's the fly version of Di Vernon.
Look close.
I'm talking Oz Vernon.
This is just another lesson.
I'm lucky like number seven.
Wouldn't believe this rap had five versions.
But the sixth set may be the best yet.
You know why?
Because I wear a king suit.
No tie.
Blindfolds on.
My fluorescence done with no eyes.
Card disappear like in front of your nose.
I got one heart for two arts.
So I have to grind.
Otherwise, I'll be sitting around feeling asinine.
Jack of all trades.
Gold thoughts that I have to mine.
Always trying to change my two tens.
That's a paradigm.
Of paradigms, I probably go see ya.
Paradigms like Heidi and Sophia.
I'm a showman, so allow me to show you how I'm good
with the jokes like Howie.
Doing this for Simon so the world might hear me.
Cruise to the top and get jacked like Terry.
So whether you were born a jack, a queen, or an ace.
Or raised as a diamond, joker, spade, or an eight.
There's seven billion people in the world
and we're all connected.
The different colors of the globe as the cards reflected.
We're all from the same box when the cards collected.
So if the deck is incomplete, then we're all affected.
Be like the seven to the Q and the A3
to be like playing cards and spread L-O-V-E.
Thank you.
I was right.
Sophia.
Well, this was definitely a first for me.
Rap and magic at the same time.
How do you even figure out that you could do this?
I am super inspired by watching musicals.
I always wanted to like write a hip hop musical
that had magic in it.
That's cool.
I do magic.
Why not write a rap about that?
First time watching you.
It was fantastic.
It was a fabulous, fabulous, fabulous audition.
Simon, that was honestly incredible.
Thank you.
I mean, really, really incredible.
Thank you.
I'm just, I'm actually quite angry with you
because why haven't you auditioned before?
I mean, it was so slick.
We were all literally like,
how the hell did you do that?
Thank you.
That was amazing.
The best things are worth waiting for,
and that was one of the best magic acts I've ever seen.
And I feel the energy of your grandmother
in the room right now,
and she's making me give you the first vote of yes.
I give you a second yes, of course.
Sophia.
Three.
Simon, I'm not going to give you four yeses.
I'm going to give you 4,000 yeses.
4,000!
He's a really nice guy.
That was great.
That was so different.
I've never seen that.
Have you seen that?
Never.
Murat, I can't wait to see what you got next.
I can't wait to see it.
Congratulations, my man.
