Throwing a Big Wide Clay Pottery Vase on the Wheel

Hi folks, I'm just going to make a big pot now with my last piece of clay.
I think I look like a serial killer.
I've got some new specs because I can't throw any more close up without specs on.
I can throw but once I look away my eyes are all blurred.
I've had to finally admit that my eyes are going a bit close up to get some glasses.
This is about a seven pound ball of clay.
I'll try and make quite a round, wide one I think.
That's getting centred up.
I'm going to dive it up, leaving about a third to half an inch of thickness at the bottom.
Just keep closing the top in so it doesn't go out of control.
Squeeze it in a bit at the bottom.
Right, again as usual, the first lift is going to be a knuckle lift.
Which is using that knuckle on the outside and just pulling up from the inside.
We wheel down again at the top.
I've got an annoying rattle somewhere.
I'm going to get it a little bit narrower at the base, it'll probably go a bit off centre but I can sort it out later on.
I've lifted open up a bit from the bottom outwards.
I'm going to bring it up because I want the top to be a bit narrower.
I'll just try and close the neck in a touch now.
I may have actually let it get away from me, the top.
But we'll see how we get on.
More of a stretch out from the inside.
Really it's all about how far you dare push it without it getting too thin.
Collapsing on you.
I'll try and do something with this neck now.
Something's come in the shop, great stuff.
Give me a sec, oh Christ.
Typical, typical, typical isn't it.
Don't have anyone in all day and then when you're doing something.
You get somebody in and now the clay's probably gone too soft.
We will see.
I think that's about it, if I do any more messing about it's just going to collapse.
I've got quite a bit of width to that I think.
And it's reasonably narrow at the bottom.
So that's about it I think.
Quite a wide pass.
Just try and lift that up in touch, not quite happy with that bit.
I think that'll do.
So that's it, that's a wide vase with a narrow base, a squat vase.
