Positano is a town that's been attracting visitors for hundreds of years. With its
colourful buildings, gorgeous beaches and breathtaking views, it's not hard to see
why. Positano is located on the Amalfi Coastal region of Southern Italy. You must be wondering
what is Positano known for? Well, Positano is primarily known for its beautiful seaside
setting. Positano is also known for its high-end boutiques and fantastic restaurants.
There are a bunch of fun things to do in Positano, Italy.

Positano has stunning scenery and small streets that wind down from the top of a mountain into
the sea, and it's known for its vibrant nightlife. There are plenty of bars, clubs and restaurants
where you can get your dance on until dawn. If you're planning a trip there soon,
here are the things we think are essential. Let's dive into the top 10 things to do in Positano,
Italy. Positano has many stunning beaches you can enjoy.
Let's start with the beach that enjoys the sun the longest in Positano,
Arienzo Beach. Arienzo Beach is one of the most cherished sites on the Amalfi Coast.
It has 300 steps and breathtaking views, and it's no wonder this beach is one of the most
sought-after beaches in Positano. The steps are not just for show, they lead down to one of the
most stunning beaches in Italy. Arienzo Beach faces southwest, so it gets more sun than any
other beach in Positano. Next up is Positano's main beach, Spiaggia Grande. Spiaggia Grande,
or Grand Beach, is Positano's most famous beach. It has both a rentable and free area of sunbeds,
bright umbrellas are a beach fixture, making it easily identifiable from above.
The vista, however, is this beach's most enduring and alluring feature. Turning away from the lake,
you can see the traditional Positano houses on the hill. This view is truly breathtaking,
and will leave you speechless. Last on the list is one of Italy's most beautiful beaches,
Fiumicello. Fiumicello is a gorgeous beach, located relatively far from Positano proper,
that offers enough room and an unforgettable beach day experience. It's almost buried away
from the hustle and activity of Positano, and it's ideal for families. You can reach here by
boat or car, but boat is the best option. Arriving by boat is the most pleasurable way to arrive,
because you can see the entire coast on the way in. If you want to escape the madness of Positano,
the longer distance and peaceful nature here are ideal. Moving on from Positano's beaches,
the next best thing to do in Positano is a hike to La Tese di Positano. If you're looking for a hike
that will take your breath away, La Tese di Positano is the place for you. This trail is the
oldest road connecting the Sorrento Peninsula and Positano communities. It is a secret mule track
between the mountain and the sea, almost unknown to hikers. But it's not just any hike, it's an
experience. The trail begins at the highest hamlet of Vico Equense, with a natural balcony
overlooking Positano. It then descends into a Mediterranean maquis, surrounded by mountains
and the sea. The maquis once served as the only road for farmers and merchants until the first
half of the 19th century. Italian troops traversed this trail during both world wars. Farmers utilized
it as a legitimate commercial route based on Vico Equense dairy products and Amalfi village seafood,
but also salt, wedding trousseau, and cigarettes. Next on our list of things to do in Positano is
to tour the church of Santa Maria Assunta. The church of Santa Maria Assunta is an essential
feature of Positano's cultural, pastoral, and architectural landscape. Also called the pearl
of the Amalfi coast, Positano is a town with almost no flat land. Its buildings are placed
on top of one another along the cliff edge. The church is one of Positano's most visible and
photographed landmarks, right in the heart of town. One of the town's defining emblems is the
with its intricate pattern of yellow, green, and blue tiles flashing against the blue sky and the
sparkling Mediterranean sea. The church has stood in the center of Positano for hundreds of years.
It has been a constant source of inspiration for painters, poets, and other artists since
its construction. This beautiful church is located along the seashore just a few steps
from the Marina Grande beach, at the bottom of a narrow stairway lined with unique chic boutiques.
Today, painters sell their works on the beach and along this romantic staircase
leading down to Santa Maria Assunta, many of which reflect this lovely Positano church.

newsletter so you don't miss any of our videos. You'll find the link in the description section
below. Now where did I get to? Oh right! Positano stuff! Another exciting thing to do in Positano
is to hike to Montepittuso il Bucco, or Hole in the Rock, and take in the views. I went over this
in the Best of Amalfi vid which you can watch here. If you're on a mission to visit all of
Italy's fascinating sites, don't miss Montepittuso il Bucco. This massive stony marvel is well worth
visiting and is an excellent site for photography. The major feature of this site on the Amalfi coast
is a strange looking mountain with a natural hole which looks like it leapt out of Lord of the Rings
or Game of Thrones. Aside from the hole, this location provides an unrivaled perspective of
the area which is simply stunning and cannot be missed. Imagine waking up after a refreshing
night's sleep to the crashing sound of waves on the beach, the sun is peeking over the horizon,
and you're ready to explore your surroundings. The only thing between you and this idyllic moment?
Well, a little bit of work on your part. The good news is that booking a stay at one of the
beautiful bed and breakfast villas in Positano is easier than ever and once you've done it,
just pack your bags and off to the airport you go. Whether you're looking for something romantic or
relaxing, there's something perfect for every traveller. You can find everything from oceanfront
and beachfront villas to quaint country cottages nestled in the mountainside. There are also
options for those who want a truly unique experience. While we were in Positano, we stayed
at Hotel Villa Gabrisa. On our private balcony in Villa Gabrisa, we had a panoramic view of the
Mediterranean. We had a wonderful time. The hotel was welcoming, comfortable, and the staff, mmm,
shares kiss. Villa Gabrisa was previously a private villa and is now a four-star hotel.
There's 12 guest rooms, so the staff was attentive to our needs. They even helped us schedule private
tours. Apart from the sea view, our accommodation included air conditioning and Sky TV, and we
enjoyed breakfast on the patio. Wonderful time. Positano is great and all, but there are so many
towns and villages to explore along the Amalfi Coast, one of the best being the namesake town
of Amalfi. This beautiful town has a spectacular natural setting beneath towering cliffs. Outside
Italy, it's a relatively hidden treasure filled with old world attractions and charm. Formerly
the capital of a great maritime republic, Amalfi combines centuries of complicated history,
magnificent natural landscapes, and delicious fresh seafood. The scenic Amalfi Coast is best
in its capital, where winding alleyways, colourful houses, and sun-filled squares surround you.
While you're here, meander through the old piazzas to get a sense of local life as you
view the town's beautiful cathedrals and abbeys. The pace of life here is slower than in other
towns on the Sorrentine Peninsula, so take your time exploring the hidden alleyways or relaxing
with a drink of local limoncello while admiring the stunning sea views. Another top day trip
destination is the island of Capri, a total treasure of southern Italy. This famous island
features stunning natural beauty, delectable cuisine, and world-class shopping. It's also a
location to see and be seen, which is why so many celebrities dock their yachts in Marina Grande.
Seriously, this flashy Italian island is a haven for jet-setters.
Capri is well known for its magnificent coastline, which is dotted with majestic
mansions and villas. Boat tours are a popular method to experience these massive houses,
as well as the natural beauty of this southern Italian island. A short trip around the island
will allow you to explore popular sites like the Blue Grotto, the Green Grotto, and Faraglione.
As fun as the boats are, dry land ain't so bad either. The towns of Capri and Anna Capri's
twisting alleyways are packed with shops, historical sites, and restaurants.
Marina Grande and Marina Piccola are two beautiful beaches on either side of the island.
If you enjoy history, several museum complexes on Capri showcase the island's illustrious past.
You can also ride the chairlift to Mount Solaro or stroll the magnificent natural arch for vacation
snaps. The only thing better than a beach vacation is a beach vacation with great food,
and Positano has that in spades. This Italian town is famous for its restaurants within walking
distance of the beach. When it comes to wine and dining and classic Italian eateries in Positano,
few places can match the experience of dining on your terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
You have a lot of restaurants and eateries to choose from. Positano has the romantic La Sponda,
the breathtaking Zass, the laid-back Ristorante Adamo ed Eve Positano,
and the modern Casa e Bottega. Just some of them. It's a true vacation destination that
embodies everything that makes Italy magical. Incredible food and wine, served with endless
smiles and warm hospitality, combined with breathtaking views of unspoiled natural beauty.
If you're looking for the perfect private beach vacation in Southern Italy,
look no further than Ferrore di Fiordo. Located just beneath the roadway that connects Amalfi
and Positano, Ferrore di Fiordo is tucked away in a secluded corner of the coast.
It's not walkable from Positano and must be reached by car or public transportation.
However, the drive is worth it for this magnificent one-of-a-kind beach.
This is the ideal remote beach for a more private beach vacation
and some of the most breathtaking scenery in Southern Italy.
The beach is accessible by descending cliffside steps from the highway into the swimming area.
The beach is relatively small, making for a more intimate beach day experience.
And the views from your beach towel, they are unparalleled.
Visitors can swim in the clear blue waters during the warmer months,
or hike around enjoying unusual granite formations.
During the colder months, you can roam about and take in breathtaking sights
without worrying about getting cold or wet.
When you visit Positano, it should be clear by now that you're in for a treat.
From the colourful houses cascading down the cliff to the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean,
Positano is a sight to behold.
But if you really want to experience the heart of this town, there's one thing you must do.
Get out there and explore it on foot.
One of the best things about Positano is its size.
It's a small town, so you could easily walk around and explore at your own pace.
And trust us, you don't want to miss a thing.
The winding streets and alleys are full of surprises, from hidden treasures to charming boutiques.
When you're exploring the town, keep an eye out for local artisans.
Positano is known for its ceramics.
You'll find shops and workshops throughout the town selling these wares.
Watching these artisans at work is a treat in itself.
And if you can take home a piece of Positano to remember your trip by, well, that's just a bonus.
Exploring Positano on foot and doing a bit of shopping
is a wonderful experience that you won't forget.
It's a chance to immerse yourself in the town's culture
and get a taste of what makes it so special.
