See you later boys have a good day bye bye well made it to work i've got to package up
three pictures for a gallery in yorkshire which i'm going to do now
at least i was going to send them off but now i'm not because i forgot to varnish them
okay i've got this back to finish here which i'm going to do now and then i'm going to work
my way down into the foreground and then i'll show you what how i'm going to do this foreground
here and in particular this area here that's the bit we're going to focus on today but let
me get some of that done and then sir bloody siri yes we'll come back to that anyway
i'm going to get started on the water so i
i'm just building water up here um and although i've put in a coat of paint very thin water down
or it's uh i've used a lot of liquid so it's it's very thin the paint i put on so you can
see the underpainting underneath and that gives you that sort of transparent feeling to it
especially when it's slightly glossy as well and now i'm just going to build up on all these
ripples here because it's actually quite a ripply river um and just to give you a swing that around
so you can see that's what i'm copying here is ripply but you can still see like the clouds
and stuff underneath so that is what i'm going to do now
the water is now finished coming up to it's lunchtime now um so i'm going to get the rest
of that finished after lunch and also i've got this tree here um that i'm going to put in over
the top just to finish it off so that's this afternoon's job but it's going pretty well right
so first of all i'm going to work on the grass areas and once i've got the darker areas put in
before i do the highlights i'll then put some darker areas in here and then we'll do the
highlights all together i wouldn't have thought this would take too long this bit maybe an hour
and a half something like that so mixing it's mainly sap green and a little bit of ivory black
maybe touch a burnt umber in there as well and i'm using this uh skanky old fan brush
that's really stiff and old in fact if i just show you i was going to show you what it used to look
well it was a bit more like that obviously not the same brush but that's what it would have
looked more like so it's been really worn away but it's perfect for doing this sort of thing
just put in the darker areas and i'll do that all over right now i'm going to put in just the darker
areas of the path they're not going to be too dark so i'm going to use burnt umber and a bit
dioxin purple a little bit of the cerulean blue and i'm going to use that for these bits here
just where you've got the bit more shade and just sort of scumbling it on using the same brush
for the moment at least in fact now that doesn't work let's try a different brush go back to the
mangled piece of it's funny how the older brushes seem to work really well for some things
so there's a little bit of liquid in there as well just to so it's not too uh thick it
thins out a bit makes it a bit more transparent so using the same brush now i'm going to do the
highlights of the grass but i'm not going to use the liquid i'm going to what if i do it won't be
much so mixing in the yellow medium yellow there with a bit of lemon and a little bit of sap green
that looks pretty much it let's zoom in give you a better a better view of what i'm doing here
so just using although there's not much of a point it's going to say the point
there's not much of a point i'm going to use that sideways and i'm just going to dab the
the paint on whereas with the the um when i put the darker shading on i was brushing it down like
that or more i was brushing it down more i'm not going to do that so much with this we want that
to be really crisp and vibrant that green especially up here and that gives us a pretty good
grass effect at least i think so and now i'll go over the whole grass area doing that changing
the colors subtly as we go down because this bit is more in the shade but same technique i'm going
to do that all the way now so that's starting to look like grass now it's not finished there's
still plenty of extra little bits to add to it you know there's um some darker areas and i'm
going to refine the edges just a little bit and make it look a little bit more tufty because as
it is it look they look quite blocky but in the photograph you've got more sort of tufty little
areas in there i'm not going to work on the path just yet let's try and get the grass to
nearer a finished sort of article so now i'm just using this um hog brush here to
just sort of define the edges a little bit more and make those bits at the back there seem a bit
more sort of tufty and i've put the darker areas on and i'm now just putting the the highlighted
bits just on the top of those leaving what looks like a a shadow below and i'll go over some of
these areas with that okay so now that's done a little bit of that i'm going to now just put in
some individual blades of grass so mix in to get a nice mid green not too cool um and then
this is there's no no liquid with this looks like a little bit lighter because we want it to
we want the paint to um be quite opaque and thick we want it to really cover what's below it so it
stands out all right so grass is now pretty much finished going to get working on the path
so right at the very end of the path here i'm pretty much just doing it flat i'm not um
doing any real detail there and i'm also using the paint fairly thick because i want it to be
have a bit of punch bit of strength if i put it on a little bit too thin
then it's not gonna it's not gonna appear that bright because it's going on a slightly darker
coat of paint underneath as we come nearer to the foreground i'll do a little bit more detail
oh well it's been a long day a very long day it's 4 37 maybe not that long so there we go
that's that picture oh let's have a look let's put it on the tripod that's that picture finished
i want focus no you don't want to focus so there it is finally finished all that's left to do
and i must actually do that now is put in my signature but that's it that's today i'm going
to do another i'm going to do another one tomorrow and i'm going to try and upload one video
every weekday so you'll get this on tuesday hopefully and i'll see you again tomorrow
leave a comment if you
and i can't seem to adapt
and somebody that you felt the same way since we went i want you give me your
wouldn't be the same
it's worth the try
