Alcaraz & Sinner are BETTER than Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic?!

For years, tennis has been defined by the epic battles of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal
and Novak Djokovic, the legendary big three.
Together they've gifted us some of the most unforgettable moments in the sport's history.
With Federer now retired and Nadal on the verge of retirement, Djokovic remains a formidable
force in tennis.
As the sport evolves and transitions beyond the era dominated by these three legends,
the question arises, will the emerging rivalry between Yannick Sinner and Carlos Alcraz reach
heights that surpass those of the big three?
In 2024, these two young stars have undeniably become the dominant forces in men's tennis,
sweeping all four grandstand titles between them.
This marks a monumental shift in the sport, as it is the first time since 2002 that none
of the big three, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic have claimed a major title.
Tennis legend and pundit Mats Verlander had his say on the rivalry.
On Eurosport he said, I hope Roger, Novak and Rafael are not listening, but in terms
of level, when Sinner and Alcraz are at their best, there's no way anyone has ever played
better tennis.
He recently turned heads with that bold statement following Carlos Alcraz's victory over Yannick
Sinner at the China Open.
It's a massive compliment to these two stars, but is it an overstatement?
Well, not for the British number three Liam Brodie, who weighed in on the matter, claiming
that the level of tennis showcased by Sinner and Alcraz exceeds even that of Federer, Nadal
and Djokovic in their prime.
Furthermore, Pat Cash, a former Wimbledon champion, even claimed that Alcraz is the
best ever on grass.
These tennis pundits have given their perspectives and yes, 2024 has been the year of Alcraz
and Sinner in terms of records and results, with their head-to-head encounters always
fiercely competitive, but is it a bold statement these pundits are making to claim that no
one has ever played better tennis, that the level they've reached surpasses even the
big three or even that Alcraz is the best ever on grass?
Not everyone agrees with the pundits' bold claims.
Former Ukrainian player Aleksandr Dolgoblyov had a different take on Max Villani's perspective.
He stated on social media platform X,
Dolgoblyov's scepticism isn't without merit.
The big three set an unprecedented standard for consistency, winning a staggering number
of Grand Slam titles and Masters 1000 titles over two decades.
Can Alcraz and Sinner really keep up with that kind of dominance?
Also, tennis legend Boris Becker shared Dolgoblyov's perspective in a post, even going so far as
to publicly apologise to Villani for disagreeing.
He commented,
So while Sinner and Alcraz are putting on great entertaining matches, many including
Becker and Dolgoblyov are not ready to say they surpass the big three in terms of tennis
intelligence, tactical mastery or historic impact.
For all their talent, they have a long way to go before reaching the heights of Fedor
Nadal and Djokovic.
So guys, what do you think?
Do you agree with Max Villani, Liam Brodie and Pat Cash that Carlos Alcraz and Yannick
Sinner are playing at a level that could even surpass the big three?
Or do you side with Aleksandr Dolgoblyov and Boris Becker who believe the current stars
haven't yet matched the strategic mastery and impact of Fedor Nadal and Djokovic?
It's worth thinking about the fact that, as intense as their rivalry has been, Alcraz
and Sinner have yet to face each other in a Grand Slam final.
Until they clash on the biggest stage, any comparison to the big three could seem far
fetched.
Will they rise to that challenge?
Only time will tell.
