Fascinating concept behind the free skate for this phenomenal athlete, Mao Shimada.
The request was for Japanese music and Lori Nichol clicked and like Bubz switched on when
she heard this piece and the piece is sung in Japanese and based around a series of five
Japanese Heiku each corresponding to the changing seasons starting and ending with spring.
Well Mao Shimada delivered the brilliant work of Lori Nichol on this day perfectly beautifully.
Well the song is about the cycle of life and the evolution through the seasons and the concept just
like the concept and the consideration of this piece is almost like the evolution of the artist
and she does such a wonderful job in creating artists and that's what you sense here and I
think that skate Ted might be a skate that many worldwide senior junior will struggle to beat
this season. And that was a really good statement he created artists not just art because you can
create the art but this young skater has become an artist through the work of Lori and coach as
well there's the triple axel nice and solid nice and clean quad toe is on the quarter
in the judging system let's take a look at the landing here for the height yeah you can see it's
on the quarter but there was just no pause in this program it was just so beautifully skated
the music is wonderful it's mystic in a way. I was chatting to to Mia Hamada who was explaining
the awareness that Marsha Maddow will not compete the olympic games till 2030 and Mia was explaining
she wants to offer her student lots of different vehicles of choice creatively and artistically
as we see the triple loop here and so there isn't there's obviously a long-term athlete
development plan here to hone the every aspect of this skater towards the 2030 olympics that
we're seeing brilliance now that i suggest might be hard to beat juniors or seniors this season
but they know that the peak isn't in 2024 it's in six years time yeah and i i have to do the
interview with her i think you're gonna ask for her autograph because it's just amazing brilliant
work get her to sign a few things yeah let's take a look at her score 152 is her personal best this
is a 151.57 the season's best and even they were surprised at that of course that's first by a mile
for the 224 224.68 you don't often see a junior skater above 200 that much that is perhaps a
record i don't know we have to check the books that's her new overall personal best that's
that is simply amazing and so well deserved
