Welcome to corporals corner today. We're going to talk about my choice for headlamps and camp lanterns
So stick around why because as usual we have an outstanding show coming up
Let's go ahead and kick this off and say that there's several different choices out there for headlamps and lanterns
In this video. All I want to do is go ahead and show you what i've been using and then talk about what i've upgraded to
And I want to try and keep this in the realm of the common man
Now for me the difference between a common man and a stupid man
Is that the common man will buy once and cry once meaning he'll buy what he can afford or
Save up for what he wants
versus
a stupid man
He'll try and buy a similar item
Two three four five or even six times in a feeble attempt to save money
and in the end
Spent double triple or even quadruple the amount of money and still buying the item that he originally wanted
So with that mindset, let's go ahead and kick this off
The yuko sprout camp lantern measures 2.5 by 2.5 by 1.9 inches takes three triple a batteries
Has a high and low setting
Magnetic lanyard and weighs 2.7 ounces
Now i've owned this yuko lantern for about 18 months and it's great my opinion anything from yuko is outstanding
Now a couple of features I like on here are the high and low settings
The high setting is around 100 lumen and it's adjustable all the way down to 10 lumen
Now the 10 lumen is a sky blue a light blue color which aids in night vision and it's outstanding as well
The other feature I like on here is the removable magnetic lanyard
Which allows it to transfer from a tabletop to a ridge line in seconds
Let's go ahead and move on to the viz headlamp by princeton tech
The viz headlamp by princeton tech is waterproof has a 200 lumen spot beam
a 50 lumen flood beam
Red lens for night vision takes three triple a batteries and weighs 3.2 ounces
Now i've owned this princeton tech for about three years and what sold me on it was that it really was waterproof
When you open it up, there's a rubber seal that goes around that battery case. It actually seals that case shut
And I was up in vancouver, washington about three years ago
And so I did an experiment said to myself i'm going to go ahead and hang here in the hammock
It's pouring rain outside. I'm gonna put this on low setting and toss it out in the rain
Next morning, I woke up
Not only was the light still on but the battery case was 100 dry
That's what I used to carry. Once again, they're outstanding items for the common man
Let's go and talk about what i've upgraded to and kick this off with my led lenser ml6 lantern
The led lenser ml6 lantern uses state-of-the-art micro prism lens technology giving 360 degree glare free lighting
It can deliver up to 720 lumens
Offers flexible mounting solutions by using a hook or magnet
It measures 1.6 by 1.6 by 7 inches and weighs 10 ounces
In my opinion this is a lot more versatile and has a higher lumen output
So i'm going to upgrade to this now speaking of that lumen output. I mentioned before that it's up to 720
That's because you have a adjustable dimmer switch that allows you to control the lumen output
And if that's not enough check this out not only is this thing rechargeable but it doubles as a power bank
And the last upgrade I want to talk about is the mh8 headlamp by led lenser
The led lenser mh8 headlamp measures 5.9 by 4.7 by 3.4 inches
It ranges from 20 to 600 lumens
Has a night vision and strobe options
Has an adjustable headband
And is rechargeable
Here's what I love about that headlamp first off. It's rechargeable
Second the lumen output ranges from 20 to 600. You can adjust it using the dimmer switch
Next at the lens you actually focus it from a flood beam to a spotlight
And lastly, you have three night vision options red blue and green
Welcome back headlamps and lanterns are outstanding
All this video was was me showing you what I used to carry versus what i'm going to roll with now
