Do you know that in the reign of the Nanda dynasty,
Alexander the Great was defeated by the Bengali community?
Let's look for such interesting facts related to the Indian community.
Come, let's go to Epic Hoj.
Bengal or Angal,
the Persian word is taken from Bangla.
And the word Bangla is derived from Vangla.
Vangla was earlier known as Vanga Pradesh.
According to the Atharva Vedas,
in 1000 BC, the king of the demons, Vali lived here.
The Vanga dynasty that is also mentioned in Mahabharata,
was also in Bengal.
When archaeologists excavated Bengal,
they found some things that are 20,000 years old.
And the remains of the pit dwellings found here,
are even older than the Stone Age.
Bengal was inhabited by those people,
who had migrated here themselves.
These people came from time to time.
They were Austro-Asiatic, Tibeti-Burman,
Dravid and Indo-Orient.
Historians also find evidence that,
2000 years ago,
the people who cultivated rice in Bengal,
had settled here.
But it is also believed that,
the initial residents of this place came from Sri Lanka.
And there were some nomads,
who hunted with bows and arrows,
and lived their lives.
These nomads were called Vedas.
The Bengali community,
after China and Arabia,
was the third largest,
and among the Indo-European people,
the first largest ethnic group.
From the beginning,
rivers like the Ganga and Brahmaputra,
were used for transportation.
And the Bengali community,
used to trade with many countries,
That is why,
this community,
soon became prosperous.
In the 4th century BC,
in the reign of the Nanda dynasty,
the Bengalis defeated Alexander the Great.
The first independent king of Bengal,
Shashank, in the beginning of the 7th century,
united the Bengali states.
After that,
even under the rule of the Paula dynasty,
this place remained prosperous.
After that,
Arabs,
Turkish,
and people of Persian origin,
came and settled in Bengal.
And along with them,
Kolha,
Bhil,
Santhal,
Sabar,
and people from communities like Pulind,
also came and settled here.
With the unification of all these communities,
the multi-ethnic Bengali community was born,
which became the foundation of today's Bengali community.
In the 10th century,
Islam started spreading here.
And in the 12th century,
the Bengal state was also included in the Delhi Sultanate.
In 1352 AD,
in the reign of Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah,
the people here,
got their identity in the name of Bengali.
The Bengali language got the protection of the state.
Along with the Persian and Arabic languages,
the Bengali language also gained popularity.
Between the 14th and 16th centuries,
the Bengali community progressed a lot in business.
During this time,
a network of such districts was formed,
where coins were minted.
And they were known as Taksal Kasbo.
In these districts,
in those days,
the minting of Taka coins used to take place.
In those days,
the European people called Bengal the richest country for business.
In 1772 AD,
when the British came to India,
they made Calcutta the capital of India.
The Calcutta that we know today as Kolkata,
in British rule,
it was the biggest center of India's political administration and trade.
After the British came into contact,
when many prosperous people of the Bengali community
got the exposure of European countries,
they adopted Western style,
English language,
scientific approach,
institutional education,
and social reforms in the initial period.
The effect of the Renaissance in Europe
was first seen in Bengal in India.
And this gave birth to a new Bengal.
This is also one of the reasons
that from journalism to politics,
and from science to philosophy,
in every area,
the people of the Bengali community
were ahead from the start.
What Bengal thinks today,
India thinks tomorrow.
This is a phrase
that illustrates this community very well.
