When I was in Munich, I took a day trip to Hallstatt.
It is one of Austria's most picturesque villages
and it is also one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.
The sceneries along the way were so beautiful.
When we reached Hallstatt, we were already amazed with
the mountains around. Our first activity here would be to have
lunch at this burger outlet. It was close to zero degree Celsius at
the time so it was really nice to have a warm burger for lunch.
This burger outlet is right at the entrance of the village so you won't
miss it. I had the chicken burger which tasted so
nice because it was so crispy and also tender.
After lunch, we started our exploration of the village.
First, we would pass by the locals' houses.
The area looked so peaceful. We walked over to the lake.
The view was simply breathtaking with reflection of the snow-covered mountains
on the lake surface. Hallstatt truly deserves its reputation as a winter
fairy tale. It was cute to see the ducks swimming in
the lake. We continued walking and would pass by
souvenir shops as well as cafes. There is this narrow lane with shops on
both sides which lead to the market square.
At the market square, there were cafes and restaurants as well.
You would feel as if you're in a different world with the cobblestone
streets and also vibrant houses. A few steps from the market square, there
is this evangelical church. As you walk through the village, you'll
get to see the lake from other angles. This view overlooking the catholic
church is also one of the popular photo spots.
A visit to Hallstatt would not be complete without a cozy cafe break.
The hot tea was really perfect for the chilly weather.
After that, we just walked around the area.
There is a museum there if you are interested to find out more on Hallstatt
history. I went to check out the souvenir stores
there. The woodwork decorative items were just
so pretty. There were lots of wooden traditional
toys as well. I was quite surprised to see yo-yo and
spinning tops being sold there. I bought this Austrian cowbell which is
also a key chain. There are also conventional souvenir
shops selling magnets as well as specs and traditional costumes for kids.
This house looked like a piece of art. Towards the evening,
the view at the lake looked even more stunning with clearer reflections on the
still water. And before sunset, we were on our way
back to Munich. Having visited Hallstatt, I can now
understand why people would want to have it on their bucket list.
The mountains, the lake and the historical village just make it so
unique. I'll be sharing more on other places I
visited from Munich, so stay tuned. Till here, thanks for watching!
