Exploring Hanoi Train Street & Michelin Guide Street Food (Vietnam Travel Vlog) 🇻🇳

Good morning! So another beautiful day in Hanoi and we have a few exciting things planned. So we're just standing outside the most famous banh mi here which is banh mi 25 and we've ordered two of their specialties which is the duck gum which is a combination. Yeah i'm excited for that so there is a bit of a lineup and we are just waiting at the front with our number and then from there we have a few things planned so i think it's a full activities and good food. It's quite strange actually because there's multiple stores here so there's all i think there's three stores here but they all run under the same chain which is quite surprising because you know even people tend to copy each other's names and such yeah but um nah they've pretty much got all premises here. Yeah you're right because when we rocked up there's the main one on the right which it leads you to the google maps and it has it's actually trademarks and then the ones i saw on the other side across the road i thought oh these are copies until someone told us they're all the same yeah same same company i do believe we are the same because i saw the lady actually walking across the road with the food to one of the other venues so i guess they make it on one side and then they're seating on the other side with drinks as well yeah oh my gosh i hope it comes soon because we seriously need to get to i'll be late for this train all righty we have our two banh mi's it's quite small to be honest yeah so do you believe this is their best banh mi in hanoi the most popular or i would say like the most reviewed ours has a bit of everything so when i ordered it had sarsiu which is crisp uh roast pork and then also the meatball to the siu mai and i'm not too sure what else is inside but so far all can see pate pickled vegetables cucumber coriander oh wow this is pretty good all right i'm gonna get my napkins ready first because i'm gonna make a mess there's breadcrumbs everywhere all over me all right let's try this all right first bite doesn't count as you guys know first bite does never count mine has a lot of pate already but i'm not sure there's butter yeah i don't think there's butter in it there's pate i believe there's a mayonnaise at the top pickled vegetables cucumber roasted exactly what you said but i just had to confirm that's all it's nice because the bread's fresh and it's warm but i find that there's a lot of pate but it's kind of like a dry pate like it's livery in a sense but it's not smooth does that make sense and also because there's not really butter there's no burr uh maybe it's just because it's yeah i think the main thing i taste is very chunky pate and yeah you're right it is very hearty the kind of um taste of the pate but i don't mind it to be honest i'm getting it everywhere it's really good i think that is my favorite in vietnam yeah the one thing that you can't complain about in vietnam is the fresh fruit this is pretty impressive i like it i i was gonna say i think this is my favorite banh mi so far because i have tried other banh mis here in hanoi in my spare time yeah this is my favorite all right check it back so before i said there's a lot of pate there is but i think i just made it pretty uneven so my side only has enough butter on one of the main a's i would say on the right hand side so i'll be eating from the left and then when i've taken a bite from the right hand side it tastes much better because it's got a bit of everything pretty good race through the train tracks so it turns out we're very very early and it's quite funny so we parked up the bike and uh we did bring online a few kind of like scams in terms of someone takes you there says it's closed you have to maybe you know give them some type of bribery money so the guy at the car park actually ended up escorting us to the train tracks and we were a little bit like oh no we've already got a place you know turns out he takes us to this place it's the same place we had in mind it's quite funny so it's not in the uh busy section of where everyone usually tends to go it is on the outskirts a little bit i guess it's the start because we did see down there that there were people uh prohibited to go in or enter even further than there getting chased down by a whistle on the kind of with like the train kind of security security i guess she's a god i'm excited it's so early we're like a whole hour early i've never been this early for a train in my life and i was asking kim is it a little bit like anticlimactic that we're just waiting for a train i mean in melbourne would wait for a train to get to work or even to go to school back then but it's the first time saying i'm actually excited for a train oh yeah so i just got two egg coffees and i'm having my first cold one i didn't know that you could get this in like a cold formation i didn't think so either i thought it was just purely hot it feels like it's frowned upon to get a cold one right yeah because when you were ordering she was like uh this season everyone drinks it hot yeah like you might get sick it's not good for you i'm like it's fine and then we also saw on the menu you spotted there was uh egg coffee beer yeah that'll send you straight to the toilet all right first time looks good cheers guys i taste way better cold in my opinion no i like it hot this is really good all right let's do a bit of a swap oh that's good yeah this is really good the way they do the egg as well that's really good so i think yours would be more creamy because it's so hot but mine is just different i think i'm starting to like egg coffee a lot i know that in the earlier video i mentioned that i prefer this salted coffee yeah nah i think this is really growing on me that's true we're definitely starting to embrace the egg coffee scene here in hanoi and i think that's a really good aspect so warm and everything about it's just so nice let's hope the train comes soon that was crazy that was actually pretty wild as well that's actually illegal here i mean like there's no safety behind it the only safety there was was a guy instructing you to stay between the lines yeah that's true and earlier prior to the train coming so about 15 minutes prior to the passing through there was a police officer and that was about it he just came up to tell people randomly people were just standing you know like a while for the train to come and be like hey stop go back yeah just like scolding people and then he just went away and that was pretty much it and that was pretty exciting it was pretty exhilarating pretty cool i mean once in a lifetime kind of experience i guess yeah especially like something you definitely have to do here in hanoi one of the most popular things to do and it's funny because we're like so early for the train like an hour and a half and i kept getting delayed and delayed and we're like it's so hot kind of reminds you of the melbourne trains it's just constant delays but no it was really nice if you are in hanoi definitely check this place out especially the one out here because i know the one in the inside is quite busy but there's a lot of people coming out here now and um we've heard that it's quite popular in our time yeah a lot of uh you said that they put the beer bottle cap like on the track so it kind of like crushes it when the train goes by also another thing is we didn't leave our sticker there so if you guys are ever at the number 28 cafe try to spot our sticker and take a photo for us so all right so we are having lunch now at a bangkok place which is michelin wow this is crazy busy everything so there's two establishments right next door each other one's a quick service one one's a more dine-in and they fry all the spring rolls and desserts and stuff here which is amazing to see take a look at that all right so it is so busy here and we've tried to find the best table there's only one available and there is a little bit of sun rays so we're probably looking really wild but there is a lot of things happening good meat on the side at the front there's like the chair so like a drinks kind of station with the jelly and you know your uh what's it called the glass glass jelly and all that as well as a guy on the side that is just frying up all sorts of buns what was he saying what did he say he was telling so there was a ball so it's like a ball of mushrooms and meat in it oh it's kind of at the yum cha and it's like it looks like a football kind of shape yeah right and it's really hot when it's like this nice kind of uh mush texture it's almost like a dumpling ball and that's like watering from thinking about it i might have to get one after depending on how it goes depending on how busy it is because in there it is chaotic it took us about 10 minutes to get a table let alone order but the food has arrived yes and i'm excited so we've ordered two things one is the bun corn which is the steamed rice kind of rolls inside it has pork um and woody mushroom woody mushroom and that comes with a side of a bowl of just kind of your grilled meats and your pork loaves and i've got the bun hook which is the flat rice sheet and my one has good meats which is the pork patty also the pork belly and then also the pork loaf wow you've got a big one yeah so just i've got a couple of pork loaves and then kind of like a grilled patty i do believe they sell a duck here as well because in vietnamese we call it yet but then yeah in southern vietnamese we call it yet but here they call it yang which also translates to duck wow okay right and it's really tricky because actually the outside tables are all kind of just like for one person so it's kind of one stool as a table a higher kind of stool to put the tray and then one kind of seat for the person to sit customer so this is like the prime definition of street food here in vietnam it is michelin yes and it's right on the streets cars parked so bikes are parked up cars are parked up people walking through i'm hungry let's try this yes let's go guys looks really hot and so fresh how they made it the fish sauce is diluted so kind of like your bun cha where it's diluted fish sauce not too fishy not too salty you gotta add your kumquats and your chili take a look at that that looks nice and grilled wow it's so busy that two restaurants side by side the same kind of the same stall and just inside there's just tables and tables of people that's so good so i took a look at the price inside and it is rather cheap for michelin selected restaurant that's true and i'm actually amazed because it gives everyone an opportunity to try these amazing foods wow wow yeah make next door where they're not serving they're just making things to kind of buy or takeaway yeah lots of things wow that is like steamed but so much flavor yeah and it doesn't feel fatty that's true because if it's fatty i don't generally like it you know you're right the fish sauce is diluted it's in the sense that there's actually not that much flavor at all there's a color but there's no fishy essence but wait for the pork patty this is when i wish i was left-handed because i'm having trouble no that is good need more fishy elements locally yeah besides besides the fact that it's rather busy it is actually i want to say it's actually worth the wait here waiting lining up to try something this fresh you got the lovely little ladies making the rice sheets fresh to order yeah and i'm gonna say that i've been sitting there all day they've got like a whole system going on in there um but they're struggling a little bit with the amount of customers that are coming in and you know as it is michelin like you mentioned and it's so uh affordable a lot of locals do come here for kind of lunch as we see around us and so like i'm not complaining at all like i'm so happy that we're trying this and it's so nice uh to find like that it's such an affordable admission that everyone can kind of try as well still good not only that the atmosphere makes it like the shade the amount of shade they have in hong kong where there's trees on either side of the road makes it nice it's street eats like we mentioned and the beeping as well it all adds to the atmosphere i really like that oh yeah that's so true it's like like you mentioned sunny but there's shade so it's so good that's rather thick it is thick right yeah the meat to the meat to rice sheet ratio is about 70 30 i wish it was 50 50 but yeah it's rather thick my favorite is definitely the pork loin i'm going to say that's one of the best that yeah i'd have to say that as well they're almost the highlight of the meal i don't even care about the rest of the meal i don't care about anything else but that pork loin is so good and i can see why people were getting it for takeaway like of course you would this is a perfect snack i'm pretty sure it's rather expensive per kilo wow so i had a glance at the price of this per kilo it is one 100k but i'll double check oh yeah you're right i can see from here so uh i think i guess okay i can't really see from here it says shrimp something i don't know if it's a shrimp paste that's a meal but the other things go for about 250k and it's like kind of the fried yeah probably the pork loins got too short all right a little bit of a mishap we went to go pay and uh they didn't realize that we paid already but another slight hiccup and we got out of football a little looks a little bit greasy to be honest yeah i didn't think it's what i was thinking it was gonna be the frying guys on lunch break so that's what's left and it's a cold one oh it looks like the filling looks like it right no it's exactly what you're talking about is it the chinese kind of yum cha dumpling it's like a fried dumpling very oily though so they're wrapped up in a little piece of paper and it's practically soaked through yeah oh yeah to me it's very oily i'm gonna stick to the um the no it's pretty good yeah i don't really like this but other than that today's been amazing day we tried the best banh mi here in hanoi that's really good and then this michelin restaurant as i mentioned the super fun but long wait for the train the one time we're early and the train's late it's quite funny
