I arrived in St. Moritz as the short winter day had already come to an end and the evening
quietly enveloped the town in its frosty embrace.
A gentle chill pleasantly tingles my cheeks and the air is filled with a freshness that
you just can't get enough of.
Nighttime St. Moritz in its Christmas decor is not just beautiful, it's absolutely breathtaking.
I am standing in front of Badrut's Palace Hotel and it feels like I have stepped into
a real Christmas fairy tale.
Exquisite decorations, glowing golden arches and a towering Christmas tree greet me at
the entrance.
This hotel was opened in 1896 by Caspar Badrut, a man who essentially invented winter tourism
in Switzerland.
He invited his guests to spend the winter in St. Moritz, promising they would fall in
love with the Alps.
His idea turned out to be brilliant.
Since then, Badrut's Palace has become a symbol of luxury and elegance.
Here, a rich history meets modern comfort, leaving even the most discerning travelers
impressed.
It has hosted royalty, aristocrats and Hollywood stars.
Let's enjoy this Christmas tree.
It is adorned with thousands of sparkling golden baubles, shiny ribbons and ornaments.
Luxury cars continuously pull up to the hotel, dropping off new guests.
Let's continue our stroll along the main street.
St. Moritz is located at an altitude of about 1,800 meters above sea level, offering a unique
alpine climate and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Winter here feels like it's straight out of a magazine cover.
Snow blankets the slopes and streets, creating the atmosphere of a true winter wonderland.
The crystal clear air and soft, crunchy snow make this place perfect for winter sports
and leisurely walks.
Down below lies a lake of breathtaking beauty.
Unfortunately, its outlines are hidden beneath the veil of evening twilight.
The lavishly decorated displays of luxury boutiques are works of art in their own right.
St. Moritz is a charming alpine town with a population of just around 5,000 residents.
Despite its modest size, it is renowned worldwide as a luxurious resort and boasts a rich history
of hosting prestigious international sporting events.
St. Moritz has twice been the venue for the Winter Olympics, in 1928 and 1948,
and hosted the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2017.
Its challenging slopes and stunning alpine backdrop make it a favorite destination
for athletes and spectators alike.
Beyond traditional winter sports, St. Moritz is celebrated for hosting unique events
such as ice cricket and the Snow Polo World Cup on its frozen lake,
seamlessly blending sport and glamour.
The central square of St. Moritz is alight with festive hustle and bustle.
Young people, slightly tired from skiing and snowboarding, are enjoying hot mulled wine.
The aromas of wine and cinnamon weave into the crisp evening air.
