new year new series! not really a new me so you'll have to deal with that part of it! but
I am starting after talking with everybody in the comments and getting y'all's opinion we are going
to do what's on the Shelf so I have accumulated so many things over the years that we are going
to use some of these things I impulse bu art supplies it is it's an issue and I'm working
on it for this year so this should be a super fun series sprinkled all throughout the year and so
let's see what's on my shelf okay so I am honing in here to start and at the end of the video I
think I'll show you a lot of my shelves and show show you kind of what there is um to choose from
but I think I'm going to start with some satin enamels I have all kinds of colors back there
and again this is over the years so no judging me but let's paint okay so I picked out the satin
enamels from the Shelf now I you're seeing this like right after but I experimented actually with
quite a few things here I'll show you so here I was experimenting with swipes adding the satin
enamel into the swipe mixture and I mean these have been on my shelf um for a few minutes so
they're like starting to like move in they're still wet you can see as I just brought it
over but um I was doing a tester with my regular swipe mixture which still does beautiful lacing
but adding the satin enamel this was the one it completely wiped out the Australian flow
trol effect in it then I moved over and tried a little bit of um a uh satin enamel and gac800
didn't work so all of these were tests but I came up with something else in the mean time and that's
really what the series is all about so it's kind of like my cloud series my um Cloud Series where I
swipe with the satin enamel but it's not going to be in my swipe it's going to be around the
outside of all the colors so I want there to be lacing in the center I want it to be super soft
and then I want the kind of bottom satin enamel to kind of eat up some of the colors so I might call
this one a disappearing act I don't know we're going to find out together let's get started okay
so there's a lot that's probably going to go into these videos um because I'm mixing up new okay I
have lots of different whites here so this is just regular Amsterdam and my regular pouring medium
which is flotrol and gloss medium and a little bit of water it is kind of medium thickness you
can see as I go around it leaves a trace and sits on the top for a few seconds same as my
colors all of that is the same so the white I'm going to pour in the middle and my colors are all
the exact same way the Australian flow trol and Amsterdam titanium white that I'm using
exact same thing same consistency basically as these paints mixed uh Amsterdam titanium white
and Australian flotrol same as my regular swipe technique mixtures um and I have like a little
swipe technique guide uh if you would like to check that out and download it it's free but
the fat and enamel so the part that I grabbed off the shelf I am going to pour it around the outside
and when I swipe through it I'm hoping it's going to give me these big puffy cloudy kind of I don't
know cells and then I'm hoping that I'm going to get a reaction around the outside that's going to
be like Pearl cells so okay so I'm going to start I I tested this out on a little tile and it the
this satin enamel mixture definitely swallows up those paints so um you will definitely want
to make sure you just use a very small amount of it and I'll list it in the description how I made
it but for the inside here we go inside section is just going to be regular white I'm just doing
a small circle and I'm going to have my colors be big throughout here because the rest of them
are going to get swallowed up along the sides I think H should I layer the white and then the
colors I don't know I think I'll layer my colors
so that I know where this white is and I'm going to do a big strip of
it oh I hope this works so almost this entire Center and I'm using colors that are saturated
and dark darker I should say so that um if they disappear off the sides I'll still get a hint of
them okay so now for my inside mixture here it's going to be hard keeping all these whites separate
hoping there that I got the consistency pretty close at
least and I may need I don't know do I need more around the outer
edges that should be enough I'm
hoping okay all right now for my swipe this is so fun to experiment again I'm so happy I'm doing
this series and so when I show you my shelves at the end if you want to leave me a comment letting
me know if you see something on the Shelf like hey I've always wanted to experiment with that
drop it in the comments and then I will hopefully use your comments to make those videos all right
I want to do I like to do what I want to do but I also like to do what you want to do or what
you want to experiment with and since I already have the supplies I'm happy to experiment for you
and maybe it saves you some money and time and heartache okay here we
go okay I'm going to swipe through starting over here I don't want to get any of that
inside swipe now I have a lot of ideas for this Watch What Happens as I pick
this up along the satin enamel there the cells just go crazy right there at that
end okay so I'm going to do another one I think do I come back this way I think so I think
so super excited to see if any of those cells start popping up on this
one okay so that's one thing I'm going to experiment more in the new year I
want to continue on with using some new palettes and I'm just really just
excited to get going I can already see cells the the reaction starting to pop
up along those edges where it looks like I dragged a little bit of that in this could
be super interesting I'm really excited about this so I'm going to start o start
again I wanted to have big color big bold color through
there oh you can see it already oh my gosh I'll have to make sure that I do
a closeup of that section yes it gives such a softer lacing I just hope it doesn't disappear
that's the only thing I experimented for hours trying trying to make satin enamel
in the swipe mixture work but the paint it's the only way I can describe it is
it's just too strong it doesn't allow for the surface tension to glide through even
though running paints over it will create this reaction so it's just very interesting to me
the science behind it is super interesting okay so I'm going to come in through here
and I think for this year I want to work on my
turntable a little bit more that Erica Hughes art gave
me cuz I do love the effect of spinning it out a lot of artists
spin out their artwork and I think it's beautiful okay I think we are
to the point of to look at these big cells starting to pop up yes okay let me torch
this is what I wanted I wanted there to be a swipe
but I wanted the Pearl cell reaction too so fingers crossed y'all fingers
crossed I added in a little bit of gloss medium to the base um just because it
really helps as a a good binder okay so now what do I do I feel like I need to pour the
rest of the white around here because I don't want this to stretch out too
much so this was a 10 oz cup after yeah 10 oz after I made everything and then I
used 5 oz in the center and then my colors I might have even needed just a little bit
more paint I'm already to this corner so I might as well start here bring it
back over to that corner
now bring it down to this corner I want those colors to start running
over and it's going to be a stretch to that bottom oh you can see the
reaction [Music] happening and I didn't want it to happen in the center that's why I used
my regular paint and pouring medium in the center o am I going to make it down
there oh I don't want my cells to get too
wonky okay I think as an experiment I'm just going to leave it
there it's already
starting so my composition in the center is I don't love that I might drag my hand through it
maybe I'm excited and I don't love this portion right here
but again I didn't mix up quite enough paint so I don't love this
not quite
sure just kind of softening this up oh my goodness I'm so happy I'm so excited
it's not quite there it's not quite there but I am going to try this again for sure
dang it's just this one
little super duper interesting a few more things that I want to see what happens and test out
putting the gloss medium in it still let me have that reaction but I want to see if the colors hold
a little bit better sometimes when you use satin enamel you get this like breaking or um it's not
really floculation but it's like the paint cracks a little bit or or breaks a little bit
um with the pigments there so I want to see if these hold up well because I've always left the
gloss medium out um so that I could get more of a cell reaction but this is happening no matter what
I am so
excited oh okay I'll show you all clothes then we will see how it dries I will show you my shelves
you can pick out some new ones I'm going to do a few more experiments with this I hope you have a
safe and happy New Year I hope that I wish for you the most creativity in this next year and
whatever you're doing and I'll show you the web result okay so here are my shelves now of course
I have my goldens I love those I have my Golden Fluid acrylics these Global ones I don't even know
if they're good or not still the company sent them to me back I think in 2020 maybe 2019 um I didn't
really promote them at the time because they were only available in Australia and the shipping
was crazy so I didn't want to exactly promote something to my followers that was going to cost
them like exorbitant amounts of money when we have products like this here I don't know if that's
changed for them now of course I have all of these I would get these every time they were on sale at
Michaels um but I need to use them up I don't even know if these are good um these I believe
Gail bursten uh from life and splatters sent me I know she's been doing a lot of Photography lately
and uh peo I have been doing I wanted to do some experiments with those I Posta markers let's see
obviously I have all my paints and I want to use up these colors I have told myself because you can
make a lot of these colors that I'm not I'm going to try not to purchase anymore except white black
and the primary colors and just use up what I've got let's see let's go to my other shelf over here
obviously I'm not going to use my Clorox wipes but I do have um some gloss medium gac800 crackle
paste light molding paste these are just varnishes up here and some spray varnishes I've got glitter
crushed glass I've got some spray paint back here over here I've got uh the blackest black
the goldest gold mirror paint let me see mirror paint um I've got some masking fluid and then
some markers and some pigments so get ready it's going to be a year of experimentation for sure
okay so now you can see why I said disappearing act because this is where I put the regular color
and you can see how the colors just fade around the edges you can see like a little semblance of
color popping through but it's really just white but but it is so cool look at those different
types of cells the Pearl cells that is a beautiful Corner up there I love the swipe that's coming
through the center right there now this is new to me I don't know if anybody else has tried this but
super cool look at that oh now my composition I'm not quite 100% with it because it's going
off this side and it's not going off any of the other sides but I'm super happy with this I am
going to play around some more and then after I read your comments we will find another thing
on my shelf to experiment with Happy New Year to everybody and I'll show you what this looks like
dry here it is and so the first thing I want to point out is I set these up and then left
them for a couple of days to dry and it fell off my stand it must have been the the second
day and it all just kind of moved that way on the edge and I'm so upset because you can see it just
all kind of started right here and just kind of slid to the end but this was an experiment
to see if this new kind of for me mixture would work um and adding the gloss I didn't have any
breaking of any of the colors down here I got some really pretty like colors peeping through
but adding that tiny little bit of gloss and look you can see it up here too it all started to spew
down to that end otherwise it would have just been these beautiful clouds of pearls all around it I
ended up getting and it's kind of fitting because I feel like this reminds me a little bit of of a
reptile like the scales that are there this swipe with this part turned out so beautiful and then I
had drawn a little part with my finger up here and it caught the the Pearl mixture underneath
and it started to make a snake up here too so I feel like that's kind of fitting I love
that section right there as well so I would say this is a success even though the drying
of it wasn't such a success for the the fuxa it was this this right here this corner fell off
the stand and everything tilted that way but I am going to play around with these some more I think
my next one I'm going to see if I can tint the Pearl mixture with a light blue I do want to do
one in fire colors and I want to do a big one as well I think so I am super excited to play around
with this I hope you like the what's on the Shelf series you're going to be seeing a few of these
throughout the year um as I try to use up some of the supplies that I have and I hope everyone has
an amazingly creative New Year! thank you so much for watching! happy painting! bye!
