Taking A Helicopter To Find GOLD In The New Zealand Mountains!

today we road trip for 2 days to drool on nuggets Camp make new friends and take a helicopter to snip for gold on the top of a mountain I can't believe we're doing this oh wait I forgot my Snapper bottle okay it is a brand new day Reese and I got up early and we're heading down south to the land of Queenstown the area where we're heading is world renowned for its gold especially the shod over river which is one of the richest rivers in the world now Chris who we're going to be meeting up with has a lot of claims up in the tributaries that go into the river and a whole bunch of other Creeks that he says will be perfect for sniping Mel detecting dredging gold panning you name it so if the rumors are true we're going to have a lot of fun now our journey is going to take a couple days because we are making some special stops along the way all right this is our first break and what a place to have a break check this out look at that view and of course the beautiful hux rightand drive turbo diesel it's like an everyday vehicle over here but it's junior banana all right let's get back to [Music] it so like I said it's going to take a bit to get there so we're going to enjoy ourselves there yet all right I am not allowed to do this but I have to show you something look at that view holy that is so cool all right our first night was spent at a motel somewhere along the west coast it was also the first chance to dry my wet suit from the last trip and edit the last video I made in Canada but early the next day we were off but we still made one more stop so this is called the Gold Room I've been uh really wanting to come here oh we got some pieces of gold in here ooh I don't know how much that one weighs some little bits some specimens some melted gold this is the one that Reese just found right I'm going to go get my phone and that's the one that I don't know that was found years ago apparently they look pretty similar they did what's in your hand it's a little picker what's in your head check these ones out nice and coarse chunky thick so our planets to go down to otago and find nuggets like this hopefully nuggets like that but uh I'll be so stoked with this anyway so here reys is trying to sell his big nugget but he had no success so the moment I saw no deal was made I actually ended up taking it shortly after we left the store Merry Christmas Rees so as much as I want to sit here and continue drooling on their desk we got to go find our own gold ain't that right let's [Music] go we were finally almost there we just had to cross a couple more rivers and Traverse this mountain so I'm a little nervous I mean you can't tell from here but there is a serious drop right next to us how you feeling a yeah we spent one more night in I don't know where so we could wake up early and start our big day there they are this is going to be a really fun day sniping for gold up in the hill with that helicopter you brought breakfast yeah breakfast heck yeah Champions yay awesome so this is just a prank this is Uber Eats they actually delivered by helicopter all right so what is the scoop Mr Chris so we're going to head up into the back Waters and get a bit of an idea of what's on the ground and uh in terms of bedrock and spots to land so I guess if we see a good area where we want to snipe that's all good but we also need to find a safe place to land so we kind of have to sus out where exactly to land and where to go so there' be a bit of searching and prospecting if you will up there but exactly and also enough uh ground there to make it worthwhile to snipe for the whole day as well okay my goal mine and uh Reese's goal is to find as much gold as possible so you can pin it on a map and then potentially come back in the future so yeah since this was my first time in a helicopter I was nervous so I posted live updates on my Instagram in case this was my last so this isn't your first time in a helicopter is it uh no second time but first time doing like yeah stop crazy stunt crazy stunt don't tell me that now I am so stoked to be finally doing this I'm not sure what to be more excited about being in a helicopter or looking for gold in a completely new area man it looks amazing up here whatever you do bud don't open that door Alpa Bravo cheesecake this is rubber ducky over so the flight was maybe 15 minutes it doesn't feel far but it's at least a few Day hike if we were to walk in I can't believe we're doing this I forgot my Snapper bottle bro we are in the middle of nowhere a right this is base camp we have to make sure we're here at 3:30 we'll probably be here before then but uh let's stop wasting time we wasted no time suiting up and looking for our first place to hunt let's go my first spot was random because well the river does a good job organizing the heavy material from the light material over long distances but because we are so much further Upstream already things may not be quite organ organized yet making it more difficult to predict where the gold could be hiding if that makes sense within minutes I actually heard Reese making some noise which told me he was the first to spot some gold so re said he found one oh Wow way to go buddy Reese is always really really fast in finding the gold it's another reason why I love having him with us all right so it's been about half an hour I half found a bit of gold but I can't bring the camera in there because it's just way too fast I've gone way Upstream with reys he's going to carry on and I'm going to go back Downstream to where I was finding gold and see if we can't get something where I can actually film it finally a piece of gold you could see I know you can barely see it [Music] I did see a bunch more gold stuck in this crack but it's just so difficult to film in this current I also think I need a better underwater camera oh I saw that crack and I ignored it then I looked a little bit closer I saw that one piece of gold because I found that one piece of gold I just found all that gold I'm going to stick here for a little longer up after blowing out this crack and suing up what I could I even found more gold around the area that I didn't see get blown out of the crack but once I got everything I changed spots I just found a really nice Travis but it's upside down it's kind of inverted really really hard to see I'll bring you it but I'll have to bring you upside down what go good I see a p to go I obviously wasn't paying attention to where the camera was pointing so as you can see I'm not working deep at all in fact you can do quite well just working the shallow areas you'll be able to stay warmer longer too and you can still work in areas nobody else can see I ended up finding some gold in that last spot but nothing I could film so I worked this other crack and found more candy on camera I also found lead which was weird and another piece of gold followed by more noises from Reese so where did you find little pocket oh no oh look at all [Music] that so I'm getting tired of talking but reys has found himself a nice crack to work I'm jealous so I stuck around the same area for a bit but I was getting hungry the sooner I could eat the sooner I can come back and get back in okay just hike back down to the LZ or the landing zone or base camp just to have a little bit of food have a quick break and show you the gold that we're looking at so far Reese is still somewhere Upstream I'm sure he'll make his way down pretty soon but for now I'm just going to sit here for maybe 5 or 10 minutes and then I'm going to go back Upstream but this time the M detector because there's a lot of Bedrock up there I wouldn't mind actually detecting some of these hillsides too but we do not have all day it's 12:30 right now and at 3:30 so in 3 hours the helicopter will be here so we got to get out from Upstream maybe half an hour early just prep everything make sure everything's good to go and then we get to go home I'm going to do this in the shade here cu the lighting is a little bit better oh yeah look at that now let's go back in the Sun look at that gold wow the gold here is really yellow really clean there's some coar bits in there a lot of smooth stuff so you know the gold has traveled now there are still huge nuggets around but I believe those bits are going to be up high in the hillside or down deep where we kind of can't really reach there he is now the man the hero Rees how you making out man good right good good real good you're done real good yeah all right here we go let's see the take baby oh man that's that's freaking awesome look at that bit gosh look how shiny it is dude well done yeah the gold here is really really nice do what I think we should do W I think we should continue to find more gold but I I do want to bring the detector Upstream too are you going back Upstream I want to check Downstream but do we leave a spot that we know there is gold that's the thing it's so hard to know because we only have 3 hours and that's a lot of time but it goes by real fast we could go down stream and see that it's worse could be better I don't know okay we're running out of time so I made my way a little further Upstream to find a spot and try my luck I found a spot where I could work a deeper crevice and keep my body out of the [Music] water well kind [Music] of this spot I liked it was easy enough to work and there was quite a bit of gold in here here too woo but you find gold it's a good sign that there could be gold around now there is still a lot of overburden here to go through and trying to dig through it while holding the camera is just slowing me down so I'll try to only show you gold as I come across it okay I have to be quick because we do not have enough time I do not want to miss that helicopter so I'm just going to quickly dig this out and suck up gold but if I see anything big I'll let you know whenever you're in a time crunch it's very difficult to take camera footage and be productive looking for gold at the same time I think the only way to find a ton of gold on these trips is if I don't film at all which means no video or I spend a couple nights camping up here just found my biggest nugget of the day I have like 5 minutes before I got to go back to the helicopter Zone perfect time to use my tweezers [Music] oh guys okay I cannot help myself I really need to make sure I don't leave anything behind I did start to notice other Cracks around that were holding some gold but I'm going to have to come back I think okay that's it for me I got to hike out of here I'm uh I'm late okay so just got back to the LZ I really want to show you the gold that we both found for the entire day but we're going to wait because the helicopter will be here any second and we're just going to be ready get dropped off to where our camp is and then we'll dump out the gold and have a closer look I cut up my fingers pretty good I mean that's what happens when you work right through your gloves and I do have other gloves but I didn't bring them right on time our ride has arrived [Music] that was an awesome day can you pull over for a sec I got a pe ah just like like that we're back let's go weigh the gold I forgot we actually have to drive back to the house to weigh the gold it took a few hours but we still made it before dark okay we're at Steve's house the gold is dry and this is what I found for today not tea bag all the pieces in here are quite chunky my favorite bit is obviously going to be the bigger one here there's a piece of rust on the edge that I find Rusty and most of this gold was found on the side the water was really ripping so I know if we got to the center of the river we could have found bigger stuff but this stuff is still chunky I am not complaining now before we weigh all this gold let's see what Rees found reys has nothing to hide he did way better than I did today not that it's a competition I say that I say that because I didn't find as much gold as he did of course well yeah he just basically goes over what I start and then he finishes it and gets rewarded nicely these are the two big bits that he got today one is actually quite coarse I'm probably not too far from the source and the other one is quite round so let's wh this up and see what we're looking at so we're just going to weigh the big nugget first here I'm going to guess I don't know a gr maybe 1.1 1.34 five yeah one 1.3 all right so our scale keeps moving around for some reason but it's not really going to make a big difference so go ahead just tear it for the 10th time and let's see what we got I think I lost a little piece yeah what the heck sorry I'll give you a piece of one n it's a rough what we got 6.7 G so not bad okay I got the scale to work it was just this cup here so while Reese is trying to find his scale I'm just going to quickly weigh one of his pieces 1.25 I was just going to guess that and now his coar bit I'm going to guess 1.1 ah 1.0.0 point point point point okay all together look how carefully he is now now that it's his gold well done what's your guesses Reese eight and a half eight and a half okay I'll go seven three o now oh I was like what three nine G man n g wow not bad what did I get again at least I got the biggest piece so it is a competition on that but not a competition
