The house was designed to connect and experience the Atlantic Forest in its purest state.
I felt that more people should have this contact with nature, which was so important in my story,
since I grew up in this place.
The project had the openings defined for the contemplation of nature.
It is almost a provocation for people to reflect on what is really important,
since many answers are in nature.
We built the house on a lake, with an extensive deck and large openings.
The house was all planned so that the main focus would be nature.
On the front of the house, the view to the lake and the mountains of the valley,
while on the background, the feeling of being inside the forest.
My name is Sabrina da Rosa, I'm an architect, I designed the house and I'm the owner.
I grew up here in the site and that's why I have all this involvement with nature.
I also tried to bring the travel experience to this experience of the house only.
We are in Camboriú, near Itapema, 10 minutes from BR-101,
which surprises those who know it, because it is so close to the city and beaches,
and at the same time I felt that I was in the Catalan mountains.
The house is inside a site with 90 hectares with preserved Atlantic Forest.
In the fields, waterfalls, this land is my family's for more than 35 years.
The house was completed in June 2024.
The project was designed to minimize the impact on the landscape,
using the structure of an old ranch that already existed in the site,
in a sustainable way, with the addition of large openings and a block in the back.
Inside a valley, the wood brings heat to the house, making contrast with the burnt floor.
The preference was for natural materials, such as wood and stones.
They are a way of bringing elements that refer to simplicity,
and this simplicity wears sophistication.
With the open floor, room, kitchen, living room and office are integrated in a five-division,
creating a wide environment in a single plan,
with large openings in front of it and being embraced in the background by its garden,
natural and molded by the glass plan.
The concept of the house brings references to traditional Brazilian houses,
with this roof, with colonial tiles, the wooden door,
being able to see what is happening on the street,
and in addition to other influences, such as projects in Bali, Tulum,
Trancoso, the Mediterranean, Japan.
There are so many references that leave the house unique.
Access to the house happens through a corridor, with a well-closed landscape,
to have the impression of opening when arriving at the deck
and finding the access door to the house.
The internal materials were designed to bring a sense of comfort to the inside of the house,
since it is so close to water and, therefore, a lot of wood.
It was a way to bring technical and aesthetic comfort to a house
so close to the elements that refer to the cold, such as water and the woods.
The living room is one of my favorite parts of the house,
with the feeling of entering a hidden forest and, at the same time,
feeling very comfortable, especially on rainy days.
While my girlfriend watches a series,
I can practice yoga or work a little on this home office.
I also left some good books to wait for those who come by here.
For the kitchen, there were two premises in the project,
to cook and have breakfast while admiring the landscape.
The window and tap, and in front, the sink allows you to cook
by observing the plants under a mango tree.
We left the kitchen complete to be able to make all meals
and it also brought my passion for special coffee,
so I used several methods to prepare myself.
For the decoration, I brought a painting that was made by a friend of mine,
pledged to the house, and on the shelf there is a pink knot,
which we received from the man who set up this painting,
which he brought as a gift from the mountain range.
The room is divided by a closet, and it has a very spacious bed,
with cozy bedding to bring comfort.
In front, we have the pool, and on the right, a Mexican door,
which we had an idea on a trip to Malaysia,
and it opens to the bathroom.
It can open as much as a window, as a door.
Also one of my favorite parts of the house,
the bathroom has a garden, with a mirror in the center,
which I brought from an antique shop,
for the person to have the feeling of being framed by nature,
like this, wake up in the morning, go wash your face,
and nature is framing this mirror.
The shower also brings a natural stone wall on the side,
bathed in hot water, with spring water,
so it gives a cool to take a bath in this bathroom.
In addition to the water from the lake, we have a pool,
and the hydromassage bathtub,
all supplied with spring water from the site,
so there is that moment of contemplation,
both on a rainy day, that landscape,
as well as being able to catch the sun in the pool.
The fish and turtles are in the lake,
and the turtles have been here since I was a child.
I won them, released them in the lake,
and then I won some more people who found them on the road,
and brought them to us here.
So they are always here, and always curious about who came to the house.
The landscaping around the house was all planned by me,
and a lot of what was planted in my hand.
They are plants from the Atlantic forest, aromatic herbs, teas,
and there is also a box of bees on the roof.
In addition to the plants, there is the network,
and there is a bonfire to enjoy those colder days,
and also the trail that goes to the waterfall here in the site.
The name of the house came from the experience I had on trips,
and how I feel when I'm at my parents' house.
My mother always welcomes me with a smelly bedclothes,
or with the sonar on.
That's why the name of the house is Sol,
in honor of my mother Solange.
It's the way of welcoming people.
It's different from what people imagine,
that the sun comes from the bathroom, from the pool,
it comes in honor of my mother.
Thank you for watching.
If you are an architect or designer with an amazing project,
and that we can exhibit,
share it with us.
