🔰Mike Johnson will remain speaker, top Trump adviser predicts
A potential battle for the speaker's gavel looming as some of the GOP are
doubtful about Mike Johnson's future. GOP Congressman Mike Lulov, though,
warning of the hazards of not backing Johnson.
These folks are playing with fire and if they think they're somehow going to get
a more conservative speaker, they're kidding themselves. We can't get anything
done unless we have a speaker, including certifying President Trump's election on
Corey Lewandowski is a Trump 2024 senior official and was a Trump 2016 campaign
manager and he joins us now. Corey, thanks for getting up with us. So what are your
thoughts on this? I mean, could this cause problems if the Republicans don't
back him?
Well, I think it's very simple. Mike Johnson's going to be the next speaker of
the House. I believe that Donald Trump is going to support him as the next
speaker of the House. He's been a great partner for Donald Trump. There are very,
very few people, if any, that are serving in Congress that would be able
to do what Mike Johnson has been able to do, which is to keep a very, very small
majority together to get big things done on behalf of America. So I believe this
comes down to a one person decision. I agree with Congressman Lawler. There's
nobody else is going to do this. And my prediction is that Mike Johnson is going
to be the next speaker of the House. That's going to get done very quickly.
Look, some people want to make some noise, but at the end of the day, he's
the right man for this job. I mean, that is the question. If not Mike
Johnson, then who? That said, that's not preventing people like Kentucky
Congressman Thomas Massey from saying that he is not going to vote for
Johnson. He's out. There's no way of getting him on board. If you listen to
what he's been saying, several other Republicans remain undecided on
Johnson's future. You see them right there on the right hand side of your
screen, including Scott Perry. They're a very notable one as well. In your
first answer, you kind of give the sense that Speaker Johnson is going to
be reelected. But should we maybe not fully but partially prepare ourselves
for a President Chuck Grassley, which is how the success and succession plan
goes. If Trump ultimately is not certified and sworn in by January 20th,
because that's quite a name to be in the presidency there, Corey.
Well, listen, I have enormous respect for the longer serving U. S. Senator in
country Chuck Grassley right now, the Senate pro tem. But but the reality is
this. Donald Trump is going to be sworn in. The Republicans understand what's
at stake here. We fought very hard over the course of the last four years to
return Donald Trump back to the White House, and we're not gonna let a few
rabble rousers say that he's not gonna have that privilege. So the American
people have spoken. He's coming back to Washington D. C. With a mandate. That
mandate is to make America great again. Mike Johnson is gonna be the person to
make sure that that happens. And now that we've got a Republican U. S. Senate,
we can actually implement the ideas that Donald Trump talked about in the
campaign, which is closing our border, securing our nation and giving people
the economic relief they deserve. So Mike Johnson's gonna be the next
speaker. I have enormous respect for Senator Grassley, but I just don't think
the people of this country voted for him. So let's put Donald Trump in the
White House where he belongs. Corey, let's talk about some billionaires. Now
they're cozying up to Trump with seven figure donations to his inauguration
after previously feuding with him. The president elect received a million
dollar donations from Amazon's Jeff Bezos met his Mark Zuckerberg and open
A. I. S. Sam Altman. I mean, this is really no shock to me. I'm sure it
isn't anybody else either. But isn't this what we want in a president is
someone who feuds with people in the past and can have open dialogue and
talk to them in the future?
Well, you're exactly right. Listen, we have people on both sides of the
political spectrum that have their difference of opinion, and most of
these people didn't support Donald Trump. They were out either advocating
for Vice President Harris or, you know, just staying on the sidelines. But
now that Donald Trump is the president elect, he'll take office three weeks
from today. What you're seeing is these individuals understand the importance
of the most important job in the world, and they want to come and be part of
that, or they're gonna get left behind. And look, Jeff Bezos and Mark
Zuckerberg don't even notice a million dollars. Unfortunately, they have such
incredible wealth. It doesn't even fuel their yacht. So, you know, for
them to write a seven figure check to the presidential inaugural committee to
say that they're committed is a little bit of a fallacy. You know, I'm sure
they could do much, much more. And their businesses, many of them have
enormous contracts with the federal government. And so they're doing this
from a strictly business perspective. We know what their real position is.
We're happy that they're on the team, but let's not pretend that they're fans
of Donald Trump all of a sudden. I think that's an important clarification.
They are clearly doing this to curry favor in the most sort of unintrusive
way possible. Here's a million dollars to your point, Corey. It matters nothing
to them. But that said, it's good to see everybody kind of getting under the
tent, maybe not fully under the tent, but at least one foot in. Yeah, I mean,
Bezos wedding to Lauren Sanchez, like $600 million in Aspen. That's a drop
in the hat. He denied it. He denied it. Corey Lewandowski, we appreciate your
time. I'm Steve Ducey. I'm Brian Kilme. And I'm Ainsley Earhart. And click here
