Hello everyone, we are Easy Taiwanese Mandarin.
Today we are in Taipei's Shuangfang Art Gallery.
There is an exhibition opening today,
so we would like to ask the audience
what they think about art.
Do you like art?
Of course we like it, that's why we are here.
We like it, that's why we are here.
Why do you like art?
When you first came in contact with art,
what kind of inspiration did you get?
Because when I was young,
I was a narrow-minded boy.
I didn't go out,
I just drew at home.
I like to look at exhibitions,
to see if I can adjust my mood.
Maybe it's a kind of projection.
I like to see good works and good exhibitions.
Because I like to read comics,
I like it.
So I am also a creator,
so I like art.
You read comics and you are a creator,
what kind of works do you create?
Most of my works are related to paper devices.
I used to draw,
I was a technician.
After I went to Beijing Arts University,
I had training on how to think
and discuss things.
I think it's quite interesting.
Because I think when I appreciate works,
my body and mind will go through the works
and get the inspiration from the creator.
No matter what he encounters,
or his experience,
you can have a feeling of leaving your life
We have a chance to interview
the person in charge of Yilang,
Mr. Hu Chaosheng.
Hello, Mr. Hu.
Hello.
We would like to ask
why did you create Yilang?
What is the business concept?
The main purpose of Yilang
is to promote contemporary art in Taiwan.
The business model of Yilang
is to invite exhibitors and artists
to work together in the depth of exhibition and research.
So every exhibition
will invite different exhibitors and artists
to spend time on the theme of the exhibition
to communicate and research with each other
until the final version is published.
I would like to ask
if you have a favorite artist?
I have a lot of favorites.
I like all the exhibits here today.
One of them is Huang Hongbo.
He is my favorite.
At the beginning,
I thought he was special.
Of course, it was Picasso.
Or painting something surreal.
Or something abstract.
There was a fashion photographer in the past.
He was the first in the history of art.
He was Herman Newton.
He is my favorite.
Later, I started to focus on
more decorative or conceptual things.
Sarah Z.
I like her.
Why?
Because she uses all kinds of objects
to combine them into a device
and even integrate them into the space.
I think it is very free and interesting.
She also has a lot of hand-made details
that you can't see through.
She gives you a lot of space to imagine.
At first, you can't understand her.
But the more you look at her, the more you like her.
Even though you can't understand her,
you still like her.
That's why I like her.
I think she represents an era.
I study psychology.
Her works are similar to
the ideas of two-minded equality
in our art history.
I really like that concept.
My favorite artist
is an artist from Taiwan.
His name is Lin Ju.
I like Chen Jing-yuan.
He is also my senior.
Sometimes, I feel like I haven't finished his paintings.
But I think his paintings tell a lot of stories.
His works include
the scenery of the mountains in Taiwan
as well as some strange sculptures
like the Shanghai Sutra.
But his way of handling them
is a bit magical.
But it's not a very vulgar way.
Mark Rothko.
The reason I like him is
that his works are pure
and have the charm of traversing time and space.
Has your work been influenced by him?
Yes.
Sometimes, I've been influenced by him.
So your works are very casual
and use various materials.
No.
Actually, my works are not casual enough.
But people will like
the opposite of me.
So I admire his mental state
in his works.
I really like that feeling.
In fact, art can be seen everywhere.
It's not necessary to go to a certain place
to experience art.
In fact, everyday life is art.
I think art is a medium
for me to get to know the world
and myself through art.
From the artists' attitude
to themselves, the environment,
the society, the world
and even the universe.
From their life experiences,
I can make a comparison
and see how I see myself.
For me, art is both external and internal
and a medium for understanding each other.
