Welcome back collectors. Today I thought I would show you a small group of ancient Roman coins
from the first century AD. Now there's so much I could say about each of these coins
I could do separate videos on each emperor but I decided to group these together and this is
certainly not every emperor from that period but it's a taste of the emperors from that period.
So let's just take each of these. I'm going to show you the obverse and reverse of each
of these coins and then I'll show you the attribution that came with the coin when I
bought it. This is Caligula. This is a coin from Spain. I love the fact that it has a hole through
it. That means someone probably wore this coin around their neck at some point which adds
value to the coin as far as I'm concerned.
Caligula of course a very infamous emperor.
And then we have Claudius. This is the emperor just before Nero. I showed you my Nero coins
in another video. If you would like to see those please go and check that video out.
Now I know I'm going through these fairly quickly so the video won't be too long so
if you need to pause the video and you can read more on the attribution.
This is the emperor Galba or Galba. This is the emperor that followed Nero
in a year when Rome had five emperors beginning with Nero and ending with the emperor
on the next coin I'll show you.
A lot of information here. A lot of reference numbers.
Translation of the Greek letters on the obverse and the reverse.
Next we have the emperor Vespasian. Very small coin here.
I just love this coin because it looks like he's smiling.
Vespasian and his two sons would rule Rome for about roughly 30 years
in what I believe is called the Flavian dynasty.
His sons being Titus and the next one Domitian I believe is how you pronounce the name.
I really like this coin. A lot of detail left on that coin to be as old as it is.
These coins at least when I purchased them 10-12 years ago were not terribly expensive.
Most of them under $50. Now I have no idea of the value today so if anyone watching
does know the value please comment below and let me know. Let us all know.
