Hey guys, what is up? This is Mr. A. Krizzy here.
And yes, you're probably wondering, like, why is my room kind of dark in here for today's review.
Well, I kind of felt like making my room a little bit dark because I just got back from seeing this new horror movie which came out on Christmas Day.
And I've been hearing lots of really good things about it.
And in case you're wondering where that light is coming from, I'll show you, so that way you can see me.
It's actually my new neon sign, Movie Night.
Yeah, right here.
Very cool.
Yeah, it's my new Movie Night neon sign.
Yep.
Just wanted to show you guys, so...
And just to explain why I'm doing the review like this, so...
So yeah, today's movie review is going to be on the new Robert Eggers film, which is also a remake to a silent film, which I've actually just watched recently.
And it's a masterpiece, Nosferatu.
Yep.
Nosferatu is directed by Robert Eggers.
So, in this movie, it takes place during the 1830s.
An agent named Thomas Hunter travels to Transylvania for a meeting with Count Orlok.
In his absence, Hunter's new bride, Ellen, is left under the care of their friends, Friedrich and Anna.
Plagued by horrific visions and an increasing sense of debt, Ellen soon encounters an evil force that's far beyond her control.
And of course, she comes across a vampire known as Nosferatu, played by Bill Skarsgard.
And of course, we know Nosferatu, who appeared on SpongeBob SquarePants, and of course, it was also referenced by SpongeBob as well, so...
And yeah, and like I said, this is a remake to the original silent film from Germany, released in 1922.
And I actually just watched the original silent film of Nosferatu recently, and it's a masterpiece silent film.
It's definitely a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in the silent film era.
And so...
And then I just got back from seeing this movie by myself at Cinemark, and...
When I first saw the trailer to this movie, it did look pretty interesting, because this comes to us from the director of The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northmen.
Which, The Northmen was actually the very first Robert Eggers film I ever saw in theaters.
And of course, I also enjoyed his other two films from A24.
And my favorite film from him is The Lighthouse.
Because The Lighthouse was one of my first A24 films I ever watched, and...
Yeah, and of course, The Lighthouse is also one of my favorite A24 films, and so...
And when I first heard that Robert Eggers was gonna be directing a remake to a silent film...
It sounded like an interesting idea, and so...
After hearing lots of people saying that this is considered as one of the best horror films that came out in 2024...
After seeing it, I actually really enjoyed it.
You were right, guys. This movie was awesome.
Yeah. It was great, and it was also well done as well.
Another job well done by Robert Eggers.
And...
And yeah, this was an awesome horror film.
It's also a gothic horror film as well.
Yeah, because... yeah.
And I can see why people have been considering this movie as one of their all-time favorite horror films of 2024.
And of course, yeah, this movie came out on Christmas Day recently, and...
And yeah, when I was watching this movie carefully...
Excuse me.
Pardon me.
When I was watching this movie carefully, when I was watching it...
Some aspects and elements in this film kind of felt a little Christmassy, because...
Because not only this movie takes place during the 19th...
Excuse me, the 1830s...
But also...
It's also set place during Christmas, like the holidays.
Like, some scenes had something to do with Christmas, and had something like some elements to Christmas.
Even though I will say, this is not really a Christmas movie.
It's more of a horror historical film.
Because the reason I say historical is that this movie takes place during the 1830s.
And yeah, Robert Eggers previously directed another historical film, which was The Northmen.
But what I also really like about Nosferatu, the remake, is that...
Is that...
Is the acting performances.
Because I always have a kick with acting performances.
Like, you know, the cast members and all that.
But they were all really good in the film.
Like, I think Robert Eggers does a good job telling them what to do.
And getting the script right, in terms of being faithful to the original silent film.
Although I will say, the original silent film is better.
I gotta say, I still really love this movie.
Yeah, and of course, this is why I'm making this video dark-themed.
Because this is a dark movie, and you know...
If you guys have seen the trailer, you'll know what I'm talking about.
And yeah.
And you know, the performances were great.
I thought Bill Skarsgård was actually in the film.
And you know, Bill Skarsgård was one scary Nosferatu.
And by that, I mean he was really good in this film.
And I gotta say, the makeup design on Bill Skarsgård as Nosferatu...
It's actually very unique in terms of movies like this.
And maybe I can definitely see how...
Maybe this movie might get some nominations for Best Makeup or Costume Design.
Because I gotta say, the costumes that were used in this film were actually really good.
Pardon me. Sorry.
Yeah, the costume designs were good.
And of course, the makeup design was really good, was well done too.
Yeah, not only Bill Skarsgård was in the film, but Nicholas Houle was also in the film too, and he was good.
And Willem Dafoe. Willem Dafoe is always awesome to see.
And you know, Willem Dafoe, he was great in this film.
And yeah. And you were right, guys. After seeing the movie, Nosferatu was awesome.
Yeah, and so, if Robert Eggers can direct more movies like his first three films, then I'm totally up for it.
Although, I will say, my only flaw I do have with this movie, Nosferatu...
...is that sometimes the pacing can get a little slow at times, but then once we get to the climax, then it picks up.
Yeah.
But that aside, this movie was awesome. Another job well done by Robert Eggers.
So overall, Nosferatu was an awesome remake.
And I'm gonna give Nosferatu 4.5 out of 5 stars.
For the original movie, I would rate the original Nosferatu 5 out of 5 stars.
The Robert Eggers adaptation, I would rate 4.5.
So yeah, if you love horror movies, and if you want to start the new year by something scary related, or something that has a little bit of Christmassy themes tied into it...
...then I say, I recommend checking out this one.
Not only that, but also, if you enjoyed Robert Eggers' previous three films, then I'm sure you're definitely gonna get a kick out of it.
And if you're interested in checking it out, then just sit back, relax, and enjoy Robert Eggers' new film.
Because I really do appreciate how Robert Eggers puts effort into his work here, and he's doing a great job here.
And what more can I say? This movie was very good.
Alright guys, so that's gonna be it for my movie review on Nosferatu.
And that's gonna be it for this video, so make sure to give this video a thumbs up, and subscribe to my channel if you haven't yet.
And as always, thanks for watching, and until next time, this is Mr. A. Krizzy saying...
Goodbye everybody, and that's about it.
